Doesn't the soap get into the soil when it rains or if you use a sprinkler system to water your garden? Seems unavoidable that you're going to get it into the soil.
The mule deer around my house are not scared off by Irish Spring soap. I put pieces of the bars on the shrubs, I crush it up, put it in a spray bottle with water and spray it on them. Doesn't work. I've found there is always one deer in the herd that eats something the others don't.
I'm from the Caribbean and here's a little tip for ur kitchen garden when u do laundry that doesn't have bleach use the water to water ur plants it's very healthy for them and it drives away bugs and crawling insects also worms that would feed on the roots of ur plants ! YOUR WELCOME!🤗

i think its funny how he said that you need to use plant food if you want to properly maintain your garden despite the fact that humans were cultivating farmland for hundreds of years without having a home depot down the street XD
Shogunbloodx420 that’s because they used Midnight Soil or their own poop. They also put wood ash on it too. Not options people use now, so they now use commercial fertilizer these days.

@Renee Tate We even tried spreading our own urine around the garden, and that didn't deter them, either. To any animal, that's about the most potent of human scents; I seriously doubt that hair would have made any difference. We've since built a chickenwire enclosure, held up with 7-or-so-foot 2x4's, with a latching door that's a 2x4 frame filled in with chickenwire. It keeps out all but the moles. But thanks for the tip. Fred
@Renee Tate I welcome input from zoologists, veterinarians, or any other experts in this area, which I am not, but I think animals pick up human scent in all kinds of human secretions, including perspiration, which is almost identical to urine, chemically. And all humans perspire - even when we don't think we are doing so because the water component is evaporating instantaneously. What's left behind on our skin is human scent, and animals pick that up. Urine is filtered from blood by the kidneys; if I'm not mistaken, sweat has a similar origin, but without involvement of the kidneys. And both contain components that are diet-dependent, but they always have some unique human component in common. Hair clippings from beauty shops are pretty much all going to have some artificial, cosmetic components in them (shampoo, conditioner, and possibly others), but I guess they must also have human scent, if only from perspiration, which wicks onto hair. Maybe the cosmetic scents are more repulsive to animals than the other scents in there? Or is it just the much greater exposed surface area in a sample of hair? Fred
i have a problem with rats.... already tried oregano, ground black pepper and peppermint(or spearmint, i dont know which one). they simply knock over the pot, and cut off the plant, and leave it there to rot.....at first i thought it was cats, but then i installed cameras....and it was rats..... the black pepper was the most disappointing one....i put a LOT of it near the cameras......and the next night they were roaming as usual, no effect at all......i suspect the soap will also not have any effect......my next bid will probably be catnip.....either the smell repels them, or the cats that are attracted will eat them....i'm happy either way.
huh my grandparents told me about this, I've used Irish spring for years under furniture, under the house and in air ducts to keep spiders away I didn't know mice didn't like it either but to think about it I haven't had a problem with them. They also taught me spraying a 50/50 mix of Dawn Dish washing Liquid and water with a pump-up spray bottle to your house eves, porch eves and any place you have problems with wasp or dirt dauber to prevent them from building nest. I do it once a month during the 4 months of summer in my State.
First find out whats in the soap, because its going into your plants as well. Srcondly dont use plant food on your garden unless you know exactly whats in it.
Ok.. So does the chemicals in the soap when it rains doesnt it get absorded into your veggies and fruit. Then you eat the soap when you eat your veggies.
@@connectionoflivesandinterests I don't know yet. I just tried it two days ago, for the first time. I had an garden fence, that I tore down, because it was falling apart and I wanted to get rid of it. The former garden and (now the area where is was), is a huge deer magnet because there is this weird minty stuff growing there, that they love. I grated the soap up with a cheese grater and sprinkled it on the ground and I also hung a whole bar in some panty hose on a part of the fence that I decided to keep up to grow blackberries on it. The smell is pretty strong. I smell it from at least ten feet away when the wind blows it. So far, I haven't been able to tell if it's keeping the deer away, though, because I happened to be working outside every evening at the time they usually come around, since I put the soap up. They won't come around if I'm outside. I have to wait and see if I see them out the window on a day when I stay inside.

@@moniquewashington4319 hi Monique you can purchase fresh cherries @your local grocery store or farm stand and after consuming them put the cherry pits aside to use in your garden. You will see wonderful results and your garden will thrive. Happy gardening 🌞👍😁🌞👩🌾👨🌾
@@moniquewashington4319 "Pit" is the proper name for the seed of a cherry. It also is the proper name for the seeds of peaches, plums, nectarines, apricots avocados, etc. and any fruit that has only one seed in the center of the fruit. These are called 'stone fruits' and the pit is also called a stone.
It keeps my wife away from me when I shower with it.
Lol
If you would be a man she probably wouldn't be a problem
Then it works?
Lastinline THAT'S BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THAT SOAP IS ACTUALLY SHOULD BE CALLED IRRITATING STINK
Your wife is a critter
Doesn't the soap get into the soil when it rains or if you use a sprinkler system to water your garden? Seems unavoidable that you're going to get it into the soil.
I immediately thought the same thing. But then with how many dangerous chemicals are already used on our foods, what's 1 more eh?
The mule deer around my house are not scared off by Irish Spring soap. I put pieces of the bars on the shrubs, I crush it up, put it in a spray bottle with water and spray it on them. Doesn't work. I've found there is always one deer in the herd that eats something the others don't.
If you own a cabin put fabric softener around the cabin when you're not around, keeps the mice away and keeps the cabin smell alright
keeps spiders away 2 and if u rub sheets on ur naked body..it repeals mosquitoes..( being a lifelong nudist ) this works 2
what type of fabric softner? &, Any scent?
Fabric softener is toxic.
@@joanmarie5449 yeah, to the mice
@@someone-ot9zm It is poison for the person also.
Thanks for sharing this, Angelous!
🙏🏼
The detergent won't kill the plants
@@marielagregory1217 nope!
Never would've thought of that.Thank you. Do you mean when washing laundry by hand though? Cuz my washer busted,& dont have money for the laundromat so I must try this now.
i think its funny how he said that you need to use plant food if you want to properly maintain your garden despite the fact that humans were cultivating farmland for hundreds of years without having a home depot down the street XD
Thanks for the information. Here in Zimbabwe we don't have Irish soap. Is there an alternative soap I could use?
ZODWA Cathy try ivory soap it has a very strong scent
Yeah because they used fish as a plant food.
Shogunbloodx420 best comment here!👍😄
Shogunbloodx420 that’s because they used Midnight Soil or their own poop. They also put wood ash on it too. Not options people use now, so they now use commercial fertilizer these days.
I loved Irish spring when I was a kid! Used everyday before school
Thanks for watching!

I like how they say original scent but show icy blast scent! Lol
Lol I know right
I put Irish soap in my garden and the next summer Irish soap start growing. Just like last fall I planted my old light bulbs in the Garden. When spring hit this year new light bulbs start popping up.

Well you should plant a dollar bill or a Ben Franklin maybe you’ll get money popping up, when it does make sure you invite me over Since it was my bright idea! Haha 😂

@@sashacerny8227 I'm ready to invite you over. A year ago I took your advice and planted a Ben Franklin $100 dollar bill. Now my money tree is ready for Harvest.
My wife must be a bug! I use Irish spring when I’m feeling a little spicy and it just doesn’t seem make her feel the same..🤷♂️🤷♂️😜😂
I can't put soap in my garden .the animals use it to take a shower and have a salad for lunch.😂😂😂

We were told this several years ago, we tried it, and it didn't seem to keep the deer from snacking on our garden.
Fred
Fred
😂😂
Put up a fence or quit whining. People are stupid, lazy and cheap.
Just piss on your plants, that will solve that problem as well as server to fertilize your plants.
In the spring she puts Irish Spring soap in her yard. A few months later she was caught sprinkling Summer's Eve. See a pattern? ;)

Well, this is good information to know! I've got some ground hogs to get rid of! Thanks a bunch! 😅
In the video we learn how to grow a garden first! 🌱
Mothballs work the same way. When we lived in Southeast Asia, we tossed them in the thickets at the end of our yard to keep snakes away.
Mothballs have ingredients that cause cancer. I don't know if you want to use those near your garden you eat
I use them for the same reason. I toss some under my house, in my shed and around the yard.
Probably does but mothballs smell so disgusting
How do you get the balls off of a moth?
Used Irish Springs for the door frames due to all the flies this year. WORKS!!
I put it in my flowers, the deer kept moving it somewhere else. Repeatedly.
i have a problem with rats....
already tried oregano, ground black pepper and peppermint(or spearmint, i dont know which one).
they simply knock over the pot, and cut off the plant, and leave it there to rot.....at first i thought it was cats, but then i installed cameras....and it was rats.....
the black pepper was the most disappointing one....i put a LOT of it near the cameras......and the next night they were roaming as usual, no effect at all......i suspect the soap will also not have any effect......my next bid will probably be catnip.....either the smell repels them, or the cats that are attracted will eat them....i'm happy either way.
It's an old remedy, but it works! Keeps the critters away.
When we’re talking about critters is it just like squirrels and deer and big animals or does it keep away bugs like the Beatles eat the leaves
huh my grandparents told me about this, I've used Irish spring for years under furniture, under the house and in air ducts to keep spiders away I didn't know mice didn't like it either but to think about it I haven't had a problem with them.
Thank you for this tip!
Peppermint essential oil apparently works wonders too…I’ll be trying that as well. 😁👍🏻
How often do you change out the soap under the furniture
I love this tip and I am on my way out to buy Irish Spring soap...i have a huge fear of spiders...
Thank you!
😍🙏💞
First find out whats in the soap, because its going into your plants as well. Srcondly dont use plant food on your garden unless you know exactly whats in it.
I was thinking it might make the vegetables taste like soap.
Ok.. So does the chemicals in the soap when it rains doesnt it get absorded into your veggies and fruit. Then you eat the soap when you eat your veggies.
I thought the EXACT same way as you
My question as well, yet no one seems to have an answer!!! hmmmm maybe not so good after all!!!
It takes a while for it to melt away. But you change it out every 4 weeks so who knows
No but you sh!t bubbles
No, chemical won'tget absorbed into the vegetables.
What about when it rains!? That soap can't be good for the plants!
Actually my mom had the best garden. Water from the washing machine and sink went out there.
Win win results no killing just nice fresh veggies. Brilliant and cheap.
I remember this from an episode of the Victory Garden show on PBS in the early 90's, that I saw when I was a little kid.
*Do you know if it works? 😁😁😁* Sharon in SC

When someone wants to explain something right they do it step-by-step so you don't have to go back in this question cuz you want to be in a rush so I think this is a good video and I do listen to Summer and keeps away the Beatles and all kind of different things but it doesn't keep the gnats away thank you for sharing very great

That soap smells great but it makes my skin itch like a fothermucker, allergies ya know? I gotta use Kirks.
@No Secrets Tell me about it.... I have been on Fragrance Free for years now and it's to the point that I can't even wash my hands without thinking twice.... Zero fragrance can touch my skin.
Makes me itch too. I use coast instead. Only now coast has gone to smaller sized bars.
Same here! That’s why I use DOVE, I like how my skin feels after a shower that I don’t need to put on lotion Lol
So Irish Spring brings the leprechauns into your garden to keep the critters away❓❓
What a great video - Thank you so much for this idea!!!!!!
I use Irish Spring soap in my trailer to keep mice out when it's in storage. I was using traps and bounce sheets at first but still had to empty a trap occasionally but since using Irish Spring soap I haven't had any mice for the past two seasons.

Dryer sheets & Irish Spring keep the mice away. Put it in your summer car or motorcycle when in winter storage.. bronze wool in the intake & exhaust too.. oh, way to long. Could have been
Works for rabbits as well.
electronron1 Thanks for the RV tip!
Every time you spray the garden, the soap would seep into the ground...
don't know how good that would be for the dirt and plants, since it's anti-bacterial!
You need that bacterium in your dirt! Oh, and MiracleGrow has steroids... it's fine for lawns but not for edibles!
Thank you! Good info!
After exposing it now the company will raise it by $1.
😂😂😂 u read my mind
Aahhh, the smell of the Irish! 😂.
When it rains, wouldn't the soap get into your plants, and harm the plants or taint the taste of the veggies?
I wouldn't think. It would probably be great for deterring crawling insects and mold
Thank you so much for advice. It will definitely work 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks for watching, Alfiya!
soo next question they didn’t mention,,,,when it’s time to water on days no rain in sight… soap will wash into the soil will that effect the plants?
It won't harm them. Some people collect "gray water" from their shower (via a separate drain) and use it in a garden. It's just soapy water.
@@mikesiver1950 thank you! fr the info
Confirmation to what my Niece said, Irish spring soap to warn away insects also...thanks...great info...on it..👏🏾🙏🙂❤
I use Irish Spring in my camper and my shed and it keeps mice away.
For years I would cut it up a little pieces and put it in little nylon bags and hang it on my fruit trees in Alaska and the Moose would not eat the trees then
Thanks for sharing this, Wil!
Are you serious?
Awesome I live in Alaska I wonder if I put it in the trees by my dog houses if it will keep the moose away from my sled dogs they like to sleep by the dogs to keep the wolves away from them but if they have babies they are very protective and could hurt the dogs but normally they just lay down about 5 feet from the dogs the bulls never bother the dogs just those pesky Cows
