a little late but I loved this unhaul! I wanted to say I'm currently on book 6 of the wheel of time series and I love it! The worldbuilding is unparalleled and the magic system and characters are really fun - but if you're used to romantsy it might be the equivalent of jumping into the deep end. I'd recommend starting with something lighter then work your way to the wheel of time :)

PS I am a big big fantasy fan and even I couldn't get into Wheel of Time... it's an old series and it's just dated in a really unfortunate way. It's not even super ~problematic~ or anything, it's just written in a style that is sooooo dry and hard to follow imo
It happened one summer is definitely one of Tessa Bailey’s best books. I really enjoyed the second one in the series as well! Personally for me a lot of her others are no where near as good but would recommend reading it happened one summer.
I'm near the end half of crescent city and it's not doing it for me too... I'm glad I'm not alone. But from the same author I love the ACOTAR series ☺️
John Scalzi is a good sci-fi comedy author for some of his books. I loved Assistant to the Villain (which is why I thought of to make a comment) and would recommend Kaiju Preservation Society which is kind of alien Jurassic Park. Also the Murderbot Diaries has been fun. If you've already made a determination about those, I apologize. I would not read Wheel of Time. It's huge, some of it hasn't aged well, and the original author didn't finish it. However, I don't usually read epic fantasy type novels.
Omg yes I seen Starter Villain recommended and put it on my list! I’ve never read the Murderbot Diaries but that’s another one I’ve heard so many good things about. Wheel of Time might be one I get rid of in the future then, thanks so much for the recs!
My advice is before you get rid of Sea of Tranquility, go read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. It's one of my favorites of all time and by far her best book. Then if you like it, read her others (Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility). They are all very slightly interconnected, but really start with her best.
Keeping books based on gold foil and poison for men. That's why you're my kind of girl. (That sounded very manhater-y, I'm not haha!) I have the Lost Apothecary om my tbr shelf, and would like to read Queenie and Red Rising. The fanstasy ones all look the same to me 😅 Good luck with the unhaul!
I had a bad habit of buying all the books in a series if the people I followed on TH-cam loved/ liked them or because of pretty covers. I ended up hating more than I liked. Living on a disability pension and wasting that money was a big ‘No Thank You!’ from me. Now I buy the first book of any series etc or even an older series that I’ve just found. If I like the first book, I will then start getting the rest and only then. I just think about all the money I’ve saved 😒Okay, maybe saved is a stretch because you know I’m still buying books; I’m just choosier about the ones I buy😂😂
It seems we have very similar tastes. The Space Between Worlds is very meh. Black Sun is like every other fantasy book. DNF Kingdom of the Wicked too. The Lost Apothecary is reasonably good but the second book is dull. The only book you’ve missed out on is Sea of Tranquility, but again, the first half is confusing until it all falls into place.
It happened one summer is one of my faves. Didn't love the second one as much but the first one I adored

Ice Planet Barbarians is a great romance sci-fi series!!! I enjoyed It Happened One Summer and The Lost Apothecary.

I much preferred the 2nd & 3rd book in the kingdom of the wicked series, the romance kicks in and it's a bit spicier. Went from a 3 to 4 star series
