Would check out the TH-cam channel Space Dock for additional details on these ships. I would note that his Force Recon series is all about Expanse ships and actually has agreement from the producers of the expanse that his videos on ships are considered canon for the show.
Hey Colin! Just wanted to say that even though you don't have many subscribers yet, I am really happy about the continuously good content you keep making and delivering us! 😊 I enjoy your channel a LOT, and always check out your new videos as soon as you release them! Keep up the great work!! 🙂👍
Was so hoping you would have some info on the class the Pella comes from. The Pella in the show is a gorgeous looking design that is clearly MRCN (if not stated in the episode) and I'd love to find more info on it
I agree, the Pella is one beautiful ship. Unfortunately we know next to nothing about it. We know it’s a light cruiser and we know it’s of Martian design so one can infer that it belongs to a class of Cruisers utilized by the MCRN and was stolen by the Free Navy. Unfortunately that’s basically all we know about it so far.
The Scirocco, MCRN Hammurabi... and her captain Sandrine Kirino I love her, and her XO who in BSG frightened me was actually the voice of her conscience: duty, obligations and following orders. Both, more Captain Kirino, were the heroes of the battle of Io. Admiral Southern initiated the end of the war, giving his life to it... but she made the decision to follow his plan. The MCRN Donnager is a difficult ship to like: we never saw its full capabilities, only specs... the battle where captain Yao was forced to order a self destruct was more of honor, sacrifice and bravery than fighting. Yet this should be the ship to send into a deep exploration of the ring planets... as long as that lunatic Marco Inaros doesn't own one I am happy The MCRN Tachi / Rocinante... Amos Burton... if only he and Larissa survive Inaros' suicide attack (that's his plan, FYI)
The Hammurabi is the perfect example of a Scirocco-Class playing a leading role in a Martian fleet. Always nice to see them filling the role of command ships, especially seeing as the Scirocco is my second favorite class(behind the Morrigan-Class). It’s unfortunate that we don’t get to see a Donnager-Class on the offensive. While the last stand of the MCRN Donnager was impressive, I really hope we get to see some more of the class in action.
Sci Fi DeepDive Those two rail guns and the ships inside, Morrigan patrol ships?, along side a Scirocco or two and other smaller shops like the Tachi class corvettes... A fleet like this, geez! But during the war the MCRN fleet array was all that minus the Donnager dreadnought... And their navy had a dozen, which makes me believe they were treated as real dreadnoughts and patrol on their own... Or were together to protect Mars from a loosing war I didn't read the books, obviously... This time I preferred to enjoy only one media type, but that leaves me in the dark a lot
without going into spoilers depending how true to books and how much they share screen time from the Roci, we should see the Donnanger class kicking ass and not bothering to ask names next season (sadly I forgot this season is only 10 ep, so I doubt it will be in next weeks) remember, they did say Inaros faction also bombed the MCR senate, the Martians are only slightly less happy with him than Earth/the UN is
@@SciFiDeepDive hold the phone... the Hammurabi was a cruiser and it out ranged the Agathar King, a battleship? just how stupidly advanced was mars compared to earth??
The Donnager class is the Asuka Langley Sohryu of ships. Good looking and powerful, indeed the best on paper, but criminally screwed over by the plot at every opportunity so we never really get to see what it's truly capable of.
Good style; you missed a few facts, though. The Scirocco class has a rail gun. The Donnager has 6 tubes forward, 8 aft. The Donnager can carry 6 frigates or 8 destroyers, not both. Other than those, great job.
I think in all likelihood most of the colonization efforts will be led by both the UN and the MCR. Both have the immense resources needed to conduct a massive colonization effort. Earth has a population advantage but Mars has a strong motivation to start more colonies due to the state of their planet.
Mo AlZaben Why? Your argument sounds as if you know something I don't 😳 But Colin (may I?) is correct. Part of the whole Inaros problem is because Mars if falling apart because of the new "gold rush", to leave the terraforming and Mars and go find a new all green and blue planet. Maybe you point is about the MCRN Navy, surviving to control and protect the sol system... But then again they did a wonderful job with mr Marco.... I hate him, a jihadist but with logic... The worst (Jihad is not concerning to a religion, the Fremen declared it against the houses... GW too lol)

Thanks! PDC stands for Point Defense Cannon. They’re machine guns mounted to turrets and are intended for shooting down incoming torpedoes, although on rare occasions we see them used to fire directly on enemy vessels.
The Donnager class appears to be, in effect, an assault carrier. The equivalent of a Space Control Ship in the Star Fleet Battles universe.

Thank you so much!!
I love your work Collin
Thank you!
The Donnager is my fav.
Subbed. Expanse ships and structures are excellent and deserve being talked about. Please continue!
Thank you so much! I love the ships from The Expanse. Easily some of the most fascinating vessels in science fiction.
The morrigan class has to be my favorite
Mine too, personally I believe it’s the best looking ship in all of Science Fiction.

Thank you for the content and you deserve more views and subscribers. Clearly there ain't that much information from the UN navy
I’m looking into the possibility of doing a video on UN ships soon, hopefully I can scrape together enough info.
Great videos, thanks Colin. Sub'd. Would love to see in depth ones for each vessel.
Thanks! In depth breakdowns of some of these vessels are definitely on my list!
