    It's nice to just see a bunch of good ideas. So many videos give you just the one "best way ever" to do something, it's nice to see a lot of different options that work well, but each has its own pros and cons, and you can make the choice for yourself.

    Excellent fences such quality all round.
    Good to see Strainer with a diagonal Stay brace with high standard detail. The H brace is good but a Strainer with a properly constructed diagonal Stay holds a tremendous amount and is less material and less hazard for Stock.

    You know what I loved about this 3video series? In everyone’s day to day life the last thing we think about is how many different ways a fence can go up or that their are people out there who care enough about the skill to go to something like this to learn show off and just have fun. Thanks josh really enjoyed it!!

    If you are using wood posts I never put the big end in the ground because later they will rot as holes where limbs were hold water from the rain. If you put them in with the small end in the ground which would be the top of the tree, they can’t hold water.

    • @jonathanrayfencing1824
      @jonathanrayfencing1824 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travis Petsche I definitely agree with lime or class I sand. Where I was talking about on the post was on up on the post where any knot holes would be or where a limb was cut off. Even on bought treated pine posts you can see where the limbs were.

    Those are nice fences and they all look nice and I remember putting up fence with my grandfather as a child and ours didn't look that good, but kept the livestock in and was well built. Those guys who did that was so talented and even though the fences look great the ones built with the steel posts will last the longest. I worked for the Arkansas Department of Correction and they had a fence line which was more practical and they lasted a long time and they didn't have cattle getting out.

    78yr old countr boy. Digging holes in rocky mt ground. Cross brace is notched in. Brace bar has double wrap of wire on ent to prevent splitting. Drill 3 starter holes on brace ends for 5" ring shank spikes with flat washers. Brace wires are double stran Smooth wire looped around both top and bottom. Loos stapled at posts. Wires are tensioned by a cross twist stick. Wires are pulled and taken a wrap at termination post and wrapped back. This allows wire ro be removed litter if need without pulling staples.

    Wonder if you’re still answering questions three yrs later. Here goes…
    How would you run Red Brand anti climb fence, on 4x4 square posts but running it on the inside? The corners are what I’m struggling with. How do you get the fence tight on corners, running it on inside? It’s important the fence looks nice, which is why I want to run it inside of posts. It’s for our backyard and will only be to keep the doggies in when they’re outside.
    Thanks for your time.

    Those Easy Post twist ties and Twist Tight tie systems were originated and patented by LC Enterprises. The original design was for prison fence construction. I was their supervisor over several foreman and their crews for many yrs. The "side ties" aka now, the Easy Ties, are extremely effective! Good call using them. Another product you might want to checkout (more for chainlink installations), are Page Band ties (Not manf'd by LC but kickass. Easy to install, and last 60% or so longer than traditional tie wires).

      @@StoneyRidgeFarmer NP my friend. I want you to know, I dont have any affiliation with LC/Delta Fence anymore. After working with the teams there, and training 100's of other companies around the world on how to use their products, I spent a lot of time with tons of different installers. The learning exchange was phenomenal, ie, with each crew over the years, we learned tricks, and left tricks of our own with those we trained. Through that time, we took that knowledge and what we already knew and developed several of the products that most in the industry have adopted and use today on a daily basis. One HUGE semi inexpensive time and energy savers is the InstaLink. We put up a mile of fence with a 3 man crew (w/ the top rail completely tied) in well under 8 hrs through very rough terrain. World Fence News had me and crew on their front page on at least two occasions showing the footage and telling the story. It was awesome. Check out InstaLink... Its worth a look..no joke! It works on nearly every Rolled type fencing, but works especially well on chainlink.

    Josh this has been a great set of vids. I learned quite a bit about fencing. Where I grew up there wasn't much fence on the farm we had fields so this was a great learning experience for me especially since next year I am moving to Arkansas to start a small homestead with goats and probably sheep and will need great fence. Like the old saying goes if a fence can't hold water it can't hold goats. LOL

    Another great video Josh and thanks for all you do. I know this taping, editing, and posting takes up a lot of your time. I've enjoyed this farm fencing series. Im sure to take this info into consideration when I retire and start my farm. If possible, can you get with these companies and do a comprehensive take on what fencing options are better for which parts of the country? Dry climates vs. wet or snowy, rocky soil vs sandy or loamy, and which post and fencing type may be better for different climates. Thanks

    Great video boys! Why do your wooden posts not come with points on them? Surely they would drive more easily! I'm a contractor in Ireland and I cant imagine driving posts without a point on them!

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't need a point on them my friend.....pointed posts "walk" when driven unless perfectly pointed...why add more cost and labor if it's not needed.

    • @barrydevlin4367
      @barrydevlin4367 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must have a great depth of top soil in the United states because I assure you that it would be impossible to drive a post here never mind a strainer without it pointed! It's no additional cost or labour here either as all our suppliers sell them pointed, Plus we stand all our posts to a low line before driving them, meaning if you have a few men on the job you can stand a lot of posts very quickly, and not abusing one man with all the lifting! However very impressed with your work and knowledge and I envy your weather and land take care.

      getting a real corner post and brace v/s something that will be trashed in 2 years. That's m suggestion. T posts nowadays just don't last....going to the trouble to build a good fence and have proper bracing is super important. Those kits work, but they just don't last and don't hold up as well as a good brace

      Crimp sleeves are the strongest as long as you get the right ones. Luke sells the best ones. I use them everyday and the wire will break somewhere else before these crimps fail. Gripples are faster, easier, and almost as good in my opinion. Also Gripples can be tightened later if your fence ever gets loose. Call Luke, great guy.
