You can get different dialogue that still ends in 'Marlet trying to make you a better person in a movie style montage dialogue', if you attack on turn 1, then spare 3 times, then attack again. Marlet says something about you giving them whiplash with the only sometimes attacking.
I attacked on turn 3 only, Martlet didn't even get to say her HI-YAH and just said that being attacked hurts and that I was correct for not hurting her (what is seen at the end of this video's second half, after Martlet tells you to insult her and they attacked)
this is the only time i've ever seen in undertale history where the enemy registers missing attacks as a choice (besides the training dummy in deltatune i think), usually missing an attack is interpeted as stalling time (like when you do an useless spare, check or use an item)
A fair interpretation, but in Undertale missing your slash is actually extremely hard. In this game is actually fairly common to wiff even at the highest tier of genocide simply because of the timing based combat. So a few miss based interactions are kinda natural.

@mariotheundying it requires a specific build of undertale mod tool to do. my copy was passed to me from someone who was in the UTY server when a dev dropped it for a bit and then shortly deleted it.
This game is really interesting to me because the spritework is godly and the story is above average, but the gameplay was lacking. All the fights felt too easy up until the Ceroba fight which dragged on for a miserable amount of time. Still one of the best fangames out there and I hope the creators are proud of themselves.

They already did that a few days ago. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s in direct response to a comment on the previous video.

There are plenty of ways to confuse her, also by attacking and hitting.
My first run i was attacking a lot and found that way to spare her.
I accidentally got spared by Martlet by missing enough times once
This fight annoyed the hell out of me with how much Marlet kept stalling when I didn't attack. So this was how I fimally beat her

make the enemy saying "ow", a new way to make the player guilty from fighting, toby would be proud
