3:00 on aircraft carriers. You hit my tism as you mentioned the Navy. The US has eleven but by some estimates we also have 20. The US has 9 Amphibious Assault Ships. These ships look similar to classic carriers from WW2 except they are designed to be the Swiss Army knife of logistics and combat. Ships and hovercraft can dock in an internal docking well in the back. Planes and stored in the hanger. Trucks and aid are also stored in the ship. USS Essex is an amphibious assault ship who showed up to save lives after both the 2010 Super typhoon in the Philippines and the 2011 Japanese earthquake and then a year later she collided with a friendly. USS Enterprise has to be my favorite ship of all time. Or collection of ships. If wooden USS Constitution wasn’t the US flagship US Enterprise would be. US Enterprise -06 fought like hell in WW2. She literally destroyed the Japanese navy after they sunk her sister ships Hornet and Yorktown. Only for the US to casually print out another Hornet and Yorktown. She was scrapped in the 1960’s only for some of her items to be placed inside of the over-engineered Goliath that was Enterprise -65. Enterprise 65 was the world’s first nuclear aircraft carrier. She had eight nuclear reactors and was the fastest warship on earth as well as the largest 1123 feet long. They only made one ship in the Enterprise class believing she was too costly at 450 million. The Nimitz class removed 6 reactors and reduced their size for a single ship cost 2 billion. In 1988 Iran mind USS Samuel B Roberts. The US response was to destroy half of Iran’s navy in an 8 hour work day with Enterprise. This is because you don’t touch American shipping especially Sammy B. After 9/11 Enterprise turned on all 8 reactors for the first time and charged towards Afghanistan. She was basically the first on the scene after out running everyone. People usually put nordic countries on a pedestal, and yeah it's great, BUT people don't realize e.g in Finland we pay an average of fucking 58% personal income TAXES. It's not secret pure-heartedness of us that we have free health care and education, but just the way the system was built. For reference, the average income tax in US is 37%. There's pros and cons to both of them. Like in Finland we have the free services and quite good quality of public education. But you can't expect an American upper middle class way of living with individual houses as homes. Everyone is more so on the income same level and there's less homeless people. We keep a tight eye on what people and projects we're funding because we're essentially paying for it. Was it then funding the city theater or drug rehabilitation centers. On a random side rant, a few of our buildings in cities just look a bit depressing. It could be so much worse, but not rays of sunshine definitely. I envy a little lol how happy some middle class American buildings look like. Many people still grow up to half love them but it seems to lack any sort of room for individualistic inspiration or hopefulness. We have forests here which is an incredible cultural richness. People who spend time hiking in forests just for the sake of nature however is becoming the minority (closeness to nature persists though). It's amazing to have a perspective from forests on how life in it's most original form is. That is why culturally I am often surprised that many Americans have no contact to nature. And it's hard to imagine California a huge forest of redwood pines. Some people react to Target the same way someone could to a worthwhile forest to explore. (but again statistically, this walking type enjoyment is not super common anymore). In summers I can hike up to different destinations to explore, different rock formations to see, slight changes between ecosystems from my countryside backyard like 3h a day.

The geopolitical, economic, and military power of the United States is something never seen before in history. No country in the world has such an absurdly high level of success in so many ways and with just about perfect geographic accommodations for such success. I typically do not like calling the U.S "the greatest country on Earth." We are a very great country and I am grateful for being born here every single time I watch the news even with how divided it is, the kind of and the magnitude of the problems our country has make me unable to in good conscious call the U.S the greatest country on Earth. We are the most powerful country on Earth, which is more accurate and should not in any way make Americans less prideful, however under things like our military power and our technological innovation lies a lackluster quality of life and political system relative to many of our other developed allies. @3:44 as a sailor yeah that's pretty much it. My ship's sponsor was Dr. Jill Biden, so that was neat

YEAHHHH MORE STORY TIME WITH JEFF VIDEOSSS
The geopolitical, economic, and military power of the United States is something never seen before in history. No country in the world has such an absurdly high level of success in so many ways and with just about perfect geographic accommodations for such success. America is great, will always be great, and I, for one, am proud to live here and call her home.
Babe wake up more Storytime with Jeff!
The return of my goat
Guys I think Jeff likes being American
That last line went unbelievably hard. What wit!
1 downside of being an American scientist you forgot to mention: the imperial system
Sarcasm is the greatest form of insult

As another beneficiary of the great DTRA gods, I can confirm that government funding is insane
4:12 I do genuinely wonder whether my entire line of ancestry has cumulatively produced equal value to that beautiful machine.
As someone who suffers from Anxiety and Depression, our Military prowess brings me back to normality. I am also a philosopher, I understand you.
i saw the USS intrepid in New York and the Apollo rocket in cape caneveral, me being a wee german lad, it was suprising
Thanks, Jeff, good video.
7:26 wow, never thought I'd see Standard Galactic in a Jeff video. Sadly it doesn't say anything of note, but was still surprised ^ ^
PEAK CINEMA 🔥
I typically do not like calling the U.S "the greatest country on Earth." We are a very great country and I am grateful for being born here every single time I watch the news even with how divided it is, the kind of and the magnitude of the problems our country has make me unable to in good conscious call the U.S the greatest country on Earth. We are the most powerful country on Earth, which is more accurate and should not in any way make Americans less prideful, however under things like our military power and our technological innovation lies a lackluster quality of life and political system relative to many of our other developed allies.
I still wouldn't trade it for the world though, for better or for worse, this is my home 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
If you don't think your country is the best, go to a different one or make it so. Lackluster quality of life? Sure, go live anywhere else
listened to too much midwest emo and now I am here 🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅
It took me a while to realize that thumbnail was a stick figure drinking, and not balls
