By all accounts Rudy is a brilliant mentor who treats his performers very very well. If you do that and you have those kinds of kids, you can keep this thing going, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they don't come out hitting harder during the next 3-4 seasons.
Success comes from education and investment in talent. A staff that knows what they're doing are not only great educators but also adept at managing egos, like Phil Jackson with the Lakers.
So rad! Rudy is such a humble dude and seems to embody the BD ethos of being cool, above-board, and respectable at all times when representing the organization. I got a kick out of how he characterized his reception at BC -- I was wondering about that. When I first saw the lot videos, I was like "Dude, is that Rudy coaching BC???". It did seem a bit, if not just superficially, of "the enemy on home turf". He went in and took the job seriously and some of the corp members disrespected his roots. I wonder if BD would respond the same way if, for some reason, BC staff wound up on their tech team. Something tells me no. Side note: I have to say, BC's '21 line is probably my favorite of theirs. Their book was tough. They were clean as hell. ...coincidence?
When are you guys going to look at some Santa Clara Vanguard 1999 or perhaps 1998? You have Gold Metal World TITLE, first in 10 years since 89 Phantom of the Opera and with 98 you have a drum title...
Let me tell you!!! Bd I love you but man those kids we had who had never marched anywhere else are so spoiled. I heard back when I marched, there were some members complaining we were winning a lot meaning that there wasn't a challenge. I wanted to chunk whatever was near me at them. Oh man that was beyond weird.

I had lost hope in the activity, but conversations like these make me want to do drum corps

SCV 1999 is definitely a show I love. 99 In general was such a fantastic year for many groups.
For the algorithm. ✊
They look so young…
