In Australia police can randomly search people in public if they designated it a search area or if there has been anyone in the past year who illegally carried knives in the area. Haven't seen any, but just in case someone makes the argument that these are easier to conceal that a fixed blade: They aren't. You can hide a fixed blade in your boots. You can hide it in your sleeves. You can put it in in a kitchen table and it won't look out of place. It can be in ordinary looking items like canes. Any knife that has any sort of action before use is worse than a fixed blade when it comes to speedy deployment. When it comes to concealment, the smaller it is, the easier. If you have to do an extra action above taking it out (or more) that just makes it less dangerous.
I honestly think that both gravity knives and balisongs are illegal because they are dangerous to careless users, not because they are any more dangerous as weapons than other knives which they obviously are not.
They're not banned or illegal except in Baltimore. Two states have bans on concealed carry knives, but only Baltimore specifies gravity knives. I'm so tired of people saying they're "the most illegal knives on the planet".
it kinda fits in with the balisongs... if only a bit. I wouldn't want to use it for flipping but it is technically two handles that close around the blade.
I’m the us sure, but I’m Australia, any knife that you can’t buy from a legal store is just as illegal as a gravity knife, Butterflies, OTF’s, everything that isn’t just a blade and a handle, if it has some sorta mechanism, it’s deemed as an automatic knife, and you can get prison time for ie
I love where I live. My state has absolutely ZERO knife laws. Autos, gravity, balisongs, doesn't matter. Blade length doesn't matter. We can even conceal brass knuckles, or wear them on paracord around our necks.
its about how unexpected the knife is. u could hide it in your fist without anyone noticing and in under one second you have the blade out and can stab. its about the suprice effect. thats why a kitchen knife isnt illegal its big, you cant really hide it and it doesnt have a suprise effect
I'm only aware of switch blades and stiletto's but now in Indiana you can own them all including butterfly knives. In the 50s spring assisted knives were Made illegal cause switch blades were used by street gangs back then. Mainly in Chicago and New York City he pushed it till they were illegal in all 50 states .
So for those who it's relevant to, living in Vic Australia. These would both be illegal here, being similar to a switch blade (retractable) or butterfly knife. It's illegal to carry a knife but that's a soft law if you're camping or have chefs knives for work or another relevant reason it's acceptable, just don't claim it's for self defence. But these would come under banned weapons, stupid or not it's illegal to possess them anywhere, you're going to jail for two years if you're found to own this. It always surprises me how many people don't know this.
A 2 second Google search reveals that Delaware is the only state that explicitly bans them. They are legal to own everywhere else (but might be illegal to carry or conceal depending on state and local laws)
The reason it was so easy to ban was because Hollywood made them seem like a quicker option even though its about the same amount of time. So in simple words The HollyWood effect. Another example is something to do with wine. One type of wine was popular. Hollywood said it was bad and then that wine's says dropped.

2 years ago yeah I would get caught with my knife in a simple traffic stop, but now that I have no reason to, is there seriously any reason to worry about carrying one of these knives?
I only ask because I MAY have bought one of them 😅😅
HOW, WHERE? ADDRESS
PLEASE
Don't give politicians ideas of what to ban next.
My state has no knife laws(NH)

@@chancelyons281 oh he posted the link at top comment when I said that I have no idea where it is now
The reason for those being illegal are gangsters and roadmen. Gravity knives are super fast to deploy and aren’t obvious.
I honestly think that both gravity knives and balisongs are illegal because they are dangerous to careless users, not because they are any more dangerous as weapons than other knives which they obviously are not.
I'm glad I live in Texas!!! And that Reate Exo is the ish, beautiful, and wonderful workmanship knife.
Politician: Kitchen knifes are now banned!
They're not banned or illegal except in Baltimore. Two states have bans on concealed carry knives, but only Baltimore specifies gravity knives. I'm so tired of people saying they're "the most illegal knives on the planet".
Fixed blades are literally the most dangerous it makes no sense. The only possible reason is that it makes concealing/smuggling a knife easier
Knife laws vary state by state, there are no restrictions whatsoever on knives in my state (Georgia).
The magblade isn’t even a gravity knife, it’s a unique action that doesn’t fit in any category
it kinda fits in with the balisongs... if only a bit. I wouldn't want to use it for flipping but it is technically two handles that close around the blade.
You want some illegal knives !!!!!!?!!?! I got you. 💯 😂😂😂
Easily concealable and easily fighting ready, same reason you cant have springloaded or switchblades
I love where I live. My state has absolutely ZERO knife laws. Autos, gravity, balisongs, doesn't matter. Blade length doesn't matter. We can even conceal brass knuckles, or wear them on paracord around our necks.
Now, here in Utah, there is no knife you cannot carry unless ordered not to by a court. Balisongs, switch blades, gravity knives, all is allowed here.
its about how unexpected the knife is. u could hide it in your fist without anyone noticing and in under one second you have the blade out and can stab. its about the suprice effect. thats why a kitchen knife isnt illegal its big, you cant really hide it and it doesnt have a suprise effect
I love my Legal/Illegal balisongs,OTF's,automatics, reate gravity exo and reate gravity karambit!Only thing missing is a ballistic knife 😄
Something: *is illegal in the US*
"THE MOST ILLEGAL KNIVES YOU CAN OWN ON THE PLANET!"
Literally every politician ever. The 2nd amendment is more than just about guns. Come and take them 🇺🇲
A 2 second Google search reveals that Delaware is the only state that explicitly bans them. They are legal to own everywhere else (but might be illegal to carry or conceal depending on state and local laws)
Typical politician. Zero promises, but all talk.
Anyone else sick of following this country’s leadership into the trash heap
The reason it was so easy to ban was because Hollywood made them seem like a quicker option even though its about the same amount of time. So in simple words The HollyWood effect. Another example is something to do with wine. One type of wine was popular. Hollywood said it was bad and then that wine's says dropped.
Funny enough, NY of all places has legalized gravity knives.
