    Yes! I have twin 23 year old sons and be ALWAYS had dinner together. They were on club ball with baseball and played from 4yrs through college. Dinners together were crucial! No phones were allowed. It was amazing!! They have both moved out and still do dinner together at least once a week now

    Ive been a trainer at a gym for 2 months. You guys have helped get me miles above where I was when I started already. After studying the information I need to know to pass my test, I was able to start studying the information I need to know to be a better trainer.     I mentioned on social media that I was putting together a home gym. A friend of mine suggested I check out this channel/podcast because it changed the way he thought about health and working out. I haven't even listented to this entire episode and yet I can already tell that this is a healthy podcast that I want to listen to. So many things are filled with aesthetics, min/maxing, etc. I'm here for the HEALTHY lifestyle change, which includes normalizing things that are in fact normal. Thank you for acknowleding mental health and outdoor time.

    I had lots of resentment toward my parents for a long time too. The first time I felt that shameful feeling around my attitude toward my upbringing was when I was around 26 years old and I’m thankful I learned. Acknowledging this and even forgiving my parents was liberating for me and did not diminish what I went through. It also helped me rebuild a relationship with not only my parents but the rest of my family.

    I love that Sal brought up spiritual practice and how you end up worshipping the thing you deem the most important rather that be money, or power, ect. People don't realize how true that is usually till it to late

    Love this podcast. Recently I got a kids grow kit to work with my kid to grow fruits and vegetables. Since we started this project and have been working outside. Kid is definitely sleeping better.

    Oh my goodness, the cake analogy is so perfect and spot on. Take one of the ingredients out and it’s no longer a cake. And I’m finding as I get older (just turned 56!) is that this holds more and more truth with every day and year. And what’s really killing me about our phones is that I vividly remember when my kids were little being annoyed that the stuff for them on TV was so flashy now as compared to when I was a kid watching Saturday morning cartoons, that their brains were just constantly being stimulated. And now look at all of us: young and old alike addicted to our technology just like I feared for my kids. I’m so thankful for my growing desire to be physically, healthy, as well as mentally healthy and I try to make time every day to work on all aspects of it. This is a fabulous segment guys, thank you for putting out such amazing and thought provoking content.

    I couldn’t agree more with these habits! I am actively trying to put my phone away, be connected and present with my 3 daughters, friends, family and coworkers. I am also trying to spend more time in nature, let go with obsession with food and gym routine. Most importantly I’m trying to lead by example to my young kids to I still lifelong habits. Wise words here!

    These are all great things to implement if not already doing. For me, the disconnecting from media and right now, living below your means, are the two most difficult. I have started to shut my tv off more at home and not turning it on in my bedroom when I go to sleep but I have said for years that these cell phones and now smart phones are the demise of us and especially our mental health. It gives so much free range for bullying and hate because people think they can hide behind their anonymity. I recently (within the last year) have changed jobs from a 60-80hr a week stressful job that I have done for 25+ years to a much less stressful, less hours, usually 43 - 48hrs a week and my mental health is so much better for that, however I also took a significant pay-cut and am now trying to get a hold of my spending habits and with the costs of everything triple what it really should be that doesn't really help.

    Family dinner is also a media free time. It’s also the time where I have the opportunity to teach my kids about tracking their macros and prioritize daily protein. I’m hoping that this carries over into them making better habits on the meals I don’t control.

    I love listening to you guys in the morning before I do my workouts. Am I killing my gains? I lift 3xs a week and do eliptical for 35min after for fatburn. Between those days, I do 50min of elliptical. I've been doing this a couple months and feel ok. But I feel I'm not getting that much leaner. I go 6 days a week and use Sunday as my off day. Thanks!!!

    Yes! DISCONNECT+OUTDOORS! I have always taken my kid's camping and preferred places I knew had no cell service. Quality time with no distractions.
    Working all of these habits into our daily schedule's would be wise.

    The relationship thing hits home hard, i slowly lost all my friends to a video game addiction, during that 6 years i got so sick, MS diabetes obesity. Started prioritising family/friend connections and everythings improved

    I agree that relationships are at the core of health. Relationships with your environment, your community, and yourself all play an important role in maintaining positive well-being. I think what we consume is also a reflection of our health status: like highly palatable foods are engineered for over-consumption, so too is 'highly palatable' media.

    I agree with everything said about eating together as a family. The only aspect I didn't hear about was being a life coach/leader of your family. If you are having that dialog, checking in, etc it gives the parent an opportunity to lead the discussion where the entire family hears the adult/more experienced input rather than kids hearing the echo chamber from social media or their friends.

    Personally i have a little challenge with relationships. Although i went on a drink with three different friends. I realized i put too much focus on gym and nutrition and turned off relationships with people. In my opinion relationships MUST be on first place.

    There was a study that came out I believe in Australia recently that noted folks who can do 40 push-ups in a row are far less likely to have any heart condition, and of course have that added benefit of longevity compared to folks who can only achieve 10 in a row

Your muscles are your metabolism and eating a high-protein diet while being very very effective with your musculature paired with good sleep is a great way to prevent disease

    I leave my phone at home regularly, forget about it for literally days. I just find don't care for it but i think i'm an outlier. i do have my laptop on a lot though, but that's something i can close and put aside at least.

    There's so much insight in this episode! I used to find technology and social media to be entertaining, but now that I work from home, I find I suffer from technology burnout on a weekly basis. That feeling of being constantly available feels so invasive. One text at the end of my work day can cause me to feel stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed. Unfortunately it's caused this heavy disconnect in so many of my relationships because people feel I'm "ignoring" them, but I just miss that true social connection from face to face interactions. At the end of the day, I really CRAVE that peaceful, still time. I typically just take a walk and focus on being present and taking in my surroundings.

    I can't afford a personal trainer but I'm trying to tack muscle on and it doesn't seem like it's happening. I workout daily and I get a 15 minute pump and then it disappears. I don't care about the pump but I thought a pump is a sign of progress but I'm not sure

    I am down about 25 pounds in 3 months. I just took my first dose of creatine yesterday and I woke up today 7 pounds lighter than the average morning weight this past week. I’ve been hitting my protein consistently so muscle loss would confuse me. Does the creatine normally have this type of effect on your weight over night or could this be something unrelated?

    Tgis is the craziest part when Adam talks about he prefers not to spend alot of time at the gym but instead with his family. Okay kudos to you! BUT The majority of us did not have a child in our 40s and we enjoy our time there. Plus we still maintain a healthy social life. It seems he speaks more of personal experience than what the majority of his listeners. He speaks about having pizza and ordering junk food. That's not healthy it wrecks your gut, giving leaky gut. Why would he talk about it like it's a good thing????😵‍💫

    I hate how reliant society has become on social media and smart technology as a whole. I try to stay off my phone as much as possible around my kids. I want them to understand that they're more important than anything on it and don't want them to see it as something they need to be on constantly.

    36:40 two fallacious lines of reasoning:
    1. time fallacy, just because something was done for a long time means its true or beneficial.
    2. popularity fallacy, just because something is popular/followed by many means its true or beneficial.
    this last point is largely BS. lets not forget it was "spiritual practice" that flew planes into buildings. "spiritual practice" (a rather nebulous term) was the driving force behind some of the most horrible practices/events in history. just so many things wrong with this last point.
    Oh well nobody is learned in all subjects. stick to physical fitness guys.

      I made the same point. Spirituality and religion is probably the most destructive thought that man has ever invented for itself. To use it as health advice makes about as much sense as the actual religions themselves.

      Another thing to add is what they refer to as "spiritual health" boils largely down to mental health. More importantly, this can be achieved WITHOUT believing in god, going to church, reading scripture, etc. That is just how THEY achieve what they refer to as "spiritual health" and listening to most of their episodes up to this point, it's clear they don't actually understand this. They never challenge this thought and seem to prefer being in an echo chamber.
      I meditate and think of my existence all the time. I constantly reevaluate how I fit into a bigger picture and what I can do to be the best version of myself possible, while being a great member of society... All while maintaining happiness and placing myself within a complex part of life that I'm severely needed. I serve a massive purpose... Yet I don't go to church, pray, read scripture or believe in a conventional god.
      Mind Pump has a lot to learn and definitely should NOT be trying to convince people they know how this all works... For nobody knows. Everyone's battle and existence is different.
      They need to stay in their lane and stick to fitness. Or at the very least acknowledge that they don't know the answer, and that what they are saying is just what works for them. Those "statistics" they spout are absolute BS and mean nothing when everyone's belief and lifestyle is completely different.

      @@HercuKong I pretty much agree with you. the most unfortunate reality of they're rather uninformed very colloquial [opinions] with regards to "spirituality" (used loosely) is that its the cultural norm for literally billions of ppl.
