Mom of two toddlers here with 15 lbs to lose ! When my second baby was 18 days old my dad passed away and with the new baby who only wanted me, the grief of losing my dad and everything else, the stress eating and the lbs piled on. I lived in constant fog and honestly can’t even remember the last two years of my life. I found your podcast and slowly started going to the gym and even got two friends to come with me. Two months later I’m down 6 lbs and building muscle. I realized I was not eating ,then binging carbs at night ! I’m shooting for 150g of protein. It’s hard to meet the goal but the trying alone helps . I realized how little I was getting! Just wanted to tell you guys that I listen to you daily for motivation. I love the immigrant kid perspective ( being an immigrant myself ) and the parent perspective . Keep posting and I’ll keep listening! Love you guys and thank you for shining light on women strength training! ❤
I definitely like 'weird'. I'm a 60 yo woman who yoyo dieted my whole life. Just started upping my protein the last fee months, and started watching you and am now playing with my own version of Maps 15 minites at home with bands and body weight. Am feeling stronger but the weight is coming off sooooo slowly. I refuse to give up.
I’ll be 57 Easter Sunday and I want to thank all of you for helping me gain a better understanding of how to take care of myself. Sleep, fitness, eating , every day grind! I’m more mindful of everything I do! I look forward to listening to your podcast daily and watching your videos! You have become a staple in my home!! So grateful!! 🙏🏻 😊
Journaling made such a huge difference in my life. I was able to be much more present and aware. I still love going back and reading through old entries ❤
“Weird” is not a turn off. I am looking for exactly what you are talking about - ways to change habits that happen to result in weight loss. Great video!
Thank you for these different ways to build in consistency of my health lifestyle!! I listen to you guys all the time to scientific based information in a very palatable way!!💪🏾🔥
Mind Pump is the best! Love episodes like this that are packed with science backed tips that we can implement today. I’m so grateful for this podcast! Thank you!
I just ordered the MAPS 40+ and the MAPS Prime. Super excited to get started with ya’ll!! I’ll be 50 this summer and will be in my best shape!! Been working on it for a bit now, and this is just what I needed to get to the next level!
25 pounds down. I’m starting to pay attention to how certain foods make me feel after I’m done eating. I watch all the videos on this channel because for me I feel like I have a “community” and feel less like I’m doing this alone. Keep it up guys.
Great episode! However, can the only exception to the rule of not watching anything while you eat be watching this podcast while having breakfast after a workout? Because that is how I start my days most days 😅
My biggest issue was being raised to finish my plate. I was raised that it is disrespectful to not finish the food on my plate. Letting go of that is difficult for me. To be able to say im full and throw away the food i have left. Its tough!
Yes, I grew I with that same mindset. For Me not to throw away food on my plate, I use a smaller plate. So I eat that, not having to actually waste food. Or have smaller portions
@@bryanrisso7508 🤣🤣🤣 i totally understand and agree!! I try to eat for my macros in mind most of the time when I eat out, prioritizing protein. We just have to be mindful. Carry home the leftovers💖💖
In my opinion why I think the “chew your food method” is effective is because it takes 20 minutes for your body to even registered that it’s eaten a meal. so taking that time to chew your food slows you down so your body can actually process that it has food and is now full. I usually tell my clients if you’re still hungry after you’ve eaten, wait 20 minutes and 9/10 times, They don’t crave seconds after that time has passed. This is a Great Episode!
Having "weird" in the title and still getting so many views is a testament to how well respected you guys are! I'll take your weird advice over someone else's "best" advice any time! I have a bunch of MAPs programs already, but would love to add Powerlift. Thank you for all the education you provide.
23:39 It’s been mentioned in a prior comment but we now know scientifically that there is a several minute delay between the time that you are full and when your body actually recognizes it. Ironically, it’s also old time wisdom that we have forgotten. My grandfather used to say that one should leave a meal “just a little bit hungry” if you wanted to be healthy. I now think of it as BIR (Bites in Reserve). Get your protein with a few BIR’s!
Great actionable (but easy to implement) advice. They turn the impassable mountain that is long-term weight loss, into a series of achievable foothills.
1) Just finding ways to walk more and add to step count goes a long way. 2) Occassionsl diet breaks are a great reset. **My folks have family dinner once every two weeks. So twice a month I have a big surplus and enjoy what I want. Two days a month don't undo the consistency, and it helps reset the system.
I'm Mind Pump addicted for real!🎉 I'm a 39 years old Mom of 2 and I'm doing my best in the gym and in the kitchen to loose those 20 extra pounds of fat. I recently got out of a dire situation after many years of struggles in Haiti. Now I need fitness in my life, I need a body win to keep me sane and gain confidence in myself. Everything is in the mindset right! But I'm not gonna lie, reverse dieting is hard😅. So, your show help me stay focused, I"m trusting the process. I would be grateful to win any MAPS program . Sending much Love to you Guys ❤
Yeah I’m guilty of eating fast, didn’t think about it til you guys mentioned it. Something I’m going to be more mindful of. Thanks for another great episode
Number 7. The crown on my molar fell off three days ago and it kind of hurts to chew. Thinking of setting a dental appointment 8 weeks from now and calling it a cut. True story. 😂
Omg the “chew diet” 😂😂 I can’t believe I’m old enough to remember this! My dad is a marine vet and TO THIS DAY mows through his food. And if I didnt finish my food he’d get concerned and upset lol
I drive a truck and put in alot of hours through the week and I do Maps 15. It fits my lifestyle fitness needs. Have you ever thought of doing a 15 minute maps performance? It would really help someone like me alternate between the 2 programs. I'm 62 years old.
Excellent tips!! A great idea for movement after meals is light bouncing on a Mini Trampoline. Not high jumping, just light bouncing. It’s perfect and doesn’t require you to leave the house (at times when you don’t want to walk outside). The Cellerciser Rebounder is my favorite (it’s built for fitness).🦾🎉
Tomorrow is my last day of Powerlift. It and Aesthetic have been my favorite programs so far. I have also completed Anabolic, Performance, Symmetry, and MAPS15. I’m taking a week off and then starting MAPS Split.
Eat less/move more is almost a guaranteed recipe for failure. Even if you ate less than you're "burning", the body then says, oh, you're starving? Conserve energy! Especially when the calories you're eating are nutrient poor and unsatiating. You'll be constantly hungry and you're going to be miserable, and you're going to cave. Many of the foods that caused people to become unhealthy and overweight are designed to be highly addictive, more addictive than street drugs. We've gotta abandon this paradigm. Excess bodyfat is a symptom of an underlying metabolic dysfunction that isn't caused by eating too many calories.
Invested in a power rack, and some extras for it (had my weight set for years, just lacked bench, and squat rack to really use them), and been hitting it pretty good since December. I’ve lost like 3-4 lbs on the scale (on a good week) BUT my body composition is significantly different. I’m sure the pounds will start going down soon as the clothes have already fit looser. I haven’t been over 200lbs since 2010, but I can already tell that I’ll look much better than I did before as I have followed the build muscle method instead of the usual dial in the diet and cut calories method. Which I’ve managed to do just fine in the past, but coming back from my accident I wanted to try a different approach, and the results speak for themselves. Being able to add squats, and bench have been greatly beneficial. My plan this year is to try to maintain some muscle during peak riding season. Although I’m even taking a different approach to that this year too, as I look to find a balance.
28 year old male here I’m on a cut eating 1800 calories a day 2 hrs of strength training and 10k steps a day at 94.5 kgs 19%bf my maintenance calories are 3100 am I on the right track eat 1kg of chicken 5 eggs 250g of mixed veg and 200g of spinach per day any tips or advice welcome
I'm glad you guys brought up the chewing thing, because I see a lot of men on the internet crying about their jaw lines and genetics yet before I turn 13 my jaw was accidentally shattered by a golf club and around the time I turned 18 I was supposed to have the plates removed but the doctor had said too much muscle and bone grow around them and he couldn't take them out, and even though I found Jawzrsize years ago, thank you Brandon, I always lived by and I still live by in my early thirties to not drink your calories and to not drink your protein. Not only does the chewing help the muscles in the very beginning, when the food is thicker, but you have all of those other muscles that work when the food is near a paste. Also, harder effort in the gym can still call upon those muscles, as long as you are a nose breather and have the correct position of your tongue. You can grow your jawline without genetics being the only factor folks. Take it from a plate face 😂😂😂
I am 6’1” 283 lbs 52 years old . I have experience in resistance /exercise training and my goal weight is 200 -210 lbs. which map program would be ideal for me to begin for this journey?

Everyone says that you need to get more sleep but it is not always that easy when you are older. Even if you have good daily and night time habits, waking up several times a night, restless sleep, etc., sometimes there really is nothing you can do. Not to mention if you have sleep apnea and even using a machine does not guarantee that deep sleep that you say you need to lose weight, especially belly fat.
I know for a fact that if I don't get good sleep, even if I subconsciously don't know it. I crave sugar in forms of donuts or chocolate... And I will search for something with a high content of sugar/ carbs to pop that energy back up.
Counting calories always held me back. Eating carnivore and packing the proteins works. I lose weight and put on muscle and I'm still consuming fewer calories than I'm supposedly required.
