    Oven temp- 350
    Prep time- 1.5 hours
    Time baking- 25-30 minutes
    Equipment-
    Standing mixer
    Counter space
    Loaf pan
    Oven
    Ingredients-
1.5 cups of lukewarm water (appropriate temp for a baby’s bath)
    2tsp yeast
    2 tbs sugar or honey
    4 cups bread flour
    2 tbs softened butter
    2 tbs dried milk
    1 tsp salt
Nonstick spray, misto bottle of oil or butter
    Instructions
Add water, yeast, and sugar to mixing bowl and stir (if you are using dry active yeast you will have to allow the yeast to activate for the recommended amount of time).
After allowing the yeast a few seconds to activate add all remaining ingredients to mixing bowl using the dough hook attachment start your mixer on level one until all ingredients have incorporated.
Note: you may need to add a little more flour if the dough is too wet/ sticking to the sides of the bowl. The dough should clean the sides of the bowl.
Once the ingredients are fully incorporated set the mixer to a level 2 and allow the machine to knead the dough for five minutes.
You should be able to take the dough from the mixing bowl without it sticking to the bowl, the hook or your fingers and it should be firm enough to shape by hand.
Spray the inside of the mixing bowl and lightly oil the dough ball so that it will not stick to the bowl while rising cover with a clean towel and place in a warm place.
Allow dough to rise until it doubles in size approx. 1hour.
Gently deflate the dough and roll out onto your counter, keep in mind the size of your bread pan.
Spray or butter the inside of the loaf pan and keep it near.
Roll or press out your dough out until it is just a little longer than your loaf pan.
Begin to roll the dough tightly.
Note: keep in mind that the center of the roll of dough will be the core of your bread and a loose roll will produce bread slices with a weak center.
Once you have created a long roll of dough pinch the outer seam shut and tuck the ends so that that it will fit into the loaf pan. Shape the loaf to even it out and better shape it then place your loaf in the pan cover and allow to rise for 20 minutes.
*give your oven appropriate time to heat during the second rising.
After the second rising bake your loaf at 350 degrees for 25- 30 minutes.
Allow the bread to cool before cutting.
*optional butter the top of the loaf to produce a softer crust.

Is milk powder necessary to make this bread? We are in lockdown for another 3 weeks, and I am not sure that I will be able to find any!
Finding flower of any kind has been a real hoot as well, but I did manage to find Bread and All Purpose Flower about 2 weeks ago, and I've been putting off making this recipe.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made your bread recipe for dinner today and want you to know that even after making homemade bread for quite some time, I got the most awesome loaf of bread. My family , who loves homemade bread , are utterly amazed with the results .
Thank you so very much for for sharing.
Your detailed instructions were key to the end results. One loaf does not last long at our house so I suppose I will have to make bread every day.
Many thanks to you once more and may God bless you!

Oh my Goodness. I just made the Noreen Bread and made the dough in my bread maker but baked it in my new Pullman pan. I added 1.25 tsp of Diastatic Malt Powder and I am so impressed. I have never made a loaf of white bread that tastes and has the texture of store bought. My husband tried it and said if he hadn’t known I made it he would have thought I bought it from the store. He is a white bread snob. Lol.

I live way up north in northern Canada and if you have a dry climate like we do in the winter what I do is boil water on the stove while it's needing. I put the bowl in the oven with the boiling water in a large pan on the rack below it and this makes it warm up and also increases the humidity so it can rise in less than a week. Great video

So I have been watching your shows for a while now. In fact the video you made of what you need to have in your pantry to start cooking from scratch is what tuned me into you and excited about starting to bake everything from scratch! So I finally got all the ingredients needed to make this bread. My house is really drafty and it’s cold out so my bread just didn’t rise the way yours did. But that may also be bc my bread dish seems just a little bit wider than yours. Anyhoo, I Currently have it cooling and will shortly find out how well it did. You make everything seem so easy! Which, really it is the way you do it. I’m so thankful that I found you!! Thank you for all your hard work and effort!!

I just watched this video and your pullman bread, love them both. do you think you could divide the dough in half and make 2 loaves rather than one big one, in your regular loaf pans. then your bread wouldn't be so huge. I noticed you guys said sometimes the bread slices are just too big. do you ever freeze the bread and if so does it keep well?

This recipe is THE ONE!! ☝🏻 ❤ My sense of smell & taste have been distorted for 7 months - in that time I discovered that commercially produced bread (I’ve tried all the brands) smells & tastes like chemicals. Smells the same as soap, laundry detergent, deodorant etc smells to me right now. That was an eye opener!! I have been trying recipes for bread so I can get away from buying it- this recipe is so easy and came out beautifully!! ❤ Someday SOON my smell & taste will be restored & I can’t wait to be able to smell fresh baking bread and taste it!! (right now there’s no taste but at least it doesn’t taste & smell like a Dow Chemical Plant!) 😂

I am so happy you love this recipe and it is now going to be your "go to".....and you will share it with others and hopefully it just keeps growing and growing to more people! God bless you, sis!!!!

+Mary ann Reis yep it keeps longer in the freezer. Better than fridge. And you can take it out and use it immediately!!!! You don't have to let it sit at all! Hope that helps. Happy baking mama!!!

could dry active yeast be substituted for instant yeast? and also what size pan did you use? thanks so much for the awesome video 👍

+Gina Davis it sure can. Just add the yeast, water and sugar and let it sit for 5 minutes to proof. Then add your flour and the rest of the ingredients on top. 😁

I can't wait to see this using your pullman pan! I have one on my "save for later" list on Amazon. I am curious to see if the bread really is softer. I have tried everything to make a truly soft sandwich bread because that is my husband's only complaint with homemade bread.

New to ur channel, but in love with all ur recipes! just made the grape jelly monday, now I'm gonna try your bread, but I have a question if I don't have powdered milk can I use reg milk? if so how do I substitute it? also i don't have a dough hook for my kitchen aid can I just knead it by hand? thanks for all the fun videos!

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  8 ปีที่แล้ว

hey welcome to my channel, mama!!!!! milk has enzymes in it that can kill your yeast......whenever a recipe calls for milk it is usually scalded to kill this enzyme. whats great aboit powdered milk is that thru the dehydrating process.....thhis enzyme is killed for you. i would suggest if you want to get into bread making....just grab a box at the grocery store. a small box will last you awhile! you can do a quick google search about the equivalent of scaled milk, thats then cooled down to replace powdered in a recipe. i dont know it off hand. 😞 i always have powdered milk and use it in my ready made pancake mix and have used it for cereal during power outages for the kids. hahaha its a great emergency prep to have on hand.

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader

this looks great. I'm going to make some now. but I'm going to use wheat bread flour. maybe put some flaxseed and Chia seed in it. now about the vital wheat gluten all it does is make the bread more lofty?

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  8 ปีที่แล้ว

awesome!!!!!! oh vital when gluten adds some strength but also some softness adding to a much better rise. it us great in denser doughs like wheat or rye.....so you dont end up with a heavy bricknof a loaf. hahaha it can help all purpose flour as well.

I have a Breadman Ultimate Plus. I don't like the pan for loaf bread so I put it on dough setting and let it knead dough and first rize 1 hr. Then I take it out punch down...shape and put in my loaf pan, pans if 2 loaves, or make rolls. Let rise n bake. I have arthritis in hands and can't do by hand anymore. This is perfect for the new comer to bread making or old like me.😊 This is a GOOD recipe but I use 4 teaspoons sugar.
