Our local gun store has had concrete-filled steel posts in front of the building for the last twenty years. In that we live in a fairly close knit and peaceful community, some people asked him why he took such extreme measures. His reply: "This isn't a candy store."

To be honest, if the shopping center had bollards in front of the store, they couldn’t have rammed the door. I actually do wonder if that was the first time they had a break in? However gun stores should have the weapons stored in a safe every night after closing.
@@only1muppet It's not a jewelry store, they aren't selling bracelets and rings, there's probably not enough room to fit all the safes that they would need for all of that merchandise and it would add 2 hours or more to the opening and closing process at least. Simply not a realistic proposal

The owners would need to have known about this and contacted the police during the robbery, since they didn’t safely guard their business or properly store their inventory like every gun store does. Regardless, the suspects were caught and the weapons were recovered. You can look it up

Gun shops in the civilian community should be held to the same standards as the military. Weapons should be locked in a military grade armory and not left in the open unprotected so this won't happen.

When officers arrived and announced their presence, Gilmore and Cross allegedly tried to flee from the back of the residence but were quickly apprehended.

Just because there are more steps, a background check, or a waiting period doesn't mean you can't get a gun. Guns are available to purchase and own in every state in the US, even California.
