The power of smell. I can smell the shavings, thank you!
You are so welcome!
I’ve never heard of a Taylor’s ham until today! Thanks❤️🤗🐝
Of course!
@@KatieMakesStuff 🤗
TP tubes or a cone of paper plate! That is what I've used in the past for filling things.
That's a great idea! I certainly have plenty of that stuff laying around the house.
Been wanting a ham too, didn’t realize it was so easy to do. Thanks!
I got finished making it and couldn't believe I put it off for so long!
I've never seen or heard of this in my entire 54 years of life 😂but thank you it was very interesting
So very welcome! I had no idea either until I saw Bernadette Banner talking about them.
A canning funnel would work.
100% yes! I probably need to put one in the workshop for future meat-inspired sewing projects 🤣
I love both of mine, they're a must have addition to my kit.
As I understand the reason half is wool and half stiff cotton is that when steam pressing curves in then you're less likely to felt to wool side.
Ahhh...that makes sense! I think if it felts it'll create a tighter ham but I'll see if I notice anything as I use it. I can already tell it's going to be a staple in my ironing.
I hope you make the sausage ham. They are great tools. I also used shavings that a friend of mine donated from his workshop and I was really surprised that I was able to stuff a trash bag full of wood shavings into those two hams.
I'm definitely going to finish it this week! And I couldn't believe how much that silly ham fit!! The sausage may empty the package
oh my god, i've been trying to find a decent tailor's ham for ages. heck yeah if I'd known it was so easy to make i would have done it already :o this is awesome!
EXACTLY! I've needed one for a while but had I known it was so easy I would've made it forever ago!!
@@KatieMakesStuff yeah! Thank you so much for sharing this, once i acquire some good materials for it, it's happening 😎
Love a simple ham 😂
Me and Hammy have big plans! 🤣
I'm going to try this - I think a canning funnel might work well 🤔
I just looked at canning funnels, it's EXACTLY the right thing to use!
Today I learned something new. I didn't know it was called tailor's ham.
In Italian it's called "cuscino da sarto" (tailor's pillow/cushion)
A Tailor's cushion seems much more appropriate, but I do love food-themed items! 🤣
If you had made your opening a little bigger a canning jar funnel would have been the answer to your filling predicament.
100% agree! The sausage will be able to fit a funnel (that sounds terrible!) 🤣🤣
@@KatieMakesStuff 🤣🤣🤣
Of course, I'm half feral so I forage, garden, & preserve food; so I assume everyone has a shed filled with bottles & jars, a dehydrator or two & a plethora of funnels!
It will come in. handy
I think so too! Can't wait to make the sausage and actually be able to iron sleeves well
@@KatieMakesStuff yes I need to make one too.
Thanks for the walk through. I have a beginner question: Does the wool fabric have to be 100% natural fiber? Because a lot of wool clothing contains some acrylic or polyester and AFAIK they have a lower melting point than cotton or animal wool. To be on the safe side, I'll probably use cotton flannel.
I still don't understand what it's for.
ironing curves/curved sections of clothing, so the iron can match the curvature instead of just pressing everything flat
I've been struggling with ironing princess seams and sleeve seams. Having something small and curvy will help get those flat.
@@KatieMakesStuff so literally like in the video. I thought it had special powers of heat retention or was specifically for bulky or quilted items. Thank you for explaining.
@careyclouser1022 oh man! I wish it had special powers!!! Now I'm a little sad Hammy is just a poof
I use mine to pin my handsewing to. To anchor down any tricky bits.
...was there even a point to this...
I didn't realize how simple these things were to make, but I definitely needed one. I figure chances are if I feel that way, other people do too.
@KatieMakesStuff . Hmmmmmmmm... hard call Katie.....Har d call ! 😝
It is now my sole focus in life to convince you (and probably myself) that this was so necessary and now all my sewing is going to be perfect!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@KatieMakesStuff ...ha! CrackAlakin' !!!! please....no sausages!!! 🙈😝❣️
