haha, I totally feel you! Even without a single hour on the real Saab it was painful to fly this knowing that probably not a single switch did what the real one would have done.
If core systems in a plane are as buggy as in the Saab, it makes it impossible for all but the most experienced flight simmers to fly it successfully. As a beginner, how are you supposed to know if you're doing something wrong or if it's an inaccuracy within the plane itself. Ironically, beginners have a better experience with the planes which have deep systems modelling where functions actually work. That's how I'm reflecting on my purchase of the MSFS 24' Premium Deluxe version anyhow.
If you want the saab to follow the route you have to plan flight with MSFS tablet then plan same flight plan in FMS.Then whole route is visible on ND and plane follows it very good, also VNAV is working. Tested with 4 flights no issues. I flown this ac many times in X-plane 11 and I don't remember it to be so underpowered.
@@A330DriverYes please do, would love to see more videos on the 340. And maybe if you would try it like mentioned above, could you include the plannig part in the video?
I'm glad NextGen is still making his 340 after being disappointed with this one. Hopedully it gets some love by Carenado I flew these until a few months ago and will always love them
Once again, thanks for featuring another aircraft that appeals to me Em...i have an interest in all things SAAB. She's s pretty little thing with some typically interesting design elements. Regards from the UK.
Gday Emanuel great video, i fly the SF340 for an operator in Australia if you were wanting to keep flying the SF340 I have a document that should help for procedures
Interested to know what you think of this addon if you fly the thing IRL? I don't know if there are any 340 pilots who do TH-cam, but I haven't found any yet.
Missed this video as I was abroad when you posted it. Thanks for taking the time to look at this aircraft. It was the new plane I was most looking forward to in MSFS 2024. Sadly this confirmed my fears about Carenado. They make pretty planes, but functionality is just not there. I hope they work on it, but I have my doubts. Thankfully NextGen is soon to release a 340 and also a Saab 2000. Hopefully those will be much better, because we could really do with more decent Turboprop regional airliners. The ATR was pretty good, but we need a few more like this and the Dash 8.
I'm sure any addon dev who puts a decent amount of energy into their planes will be able to create something better than this one :) It's a pity that everything is in the cloud these days as otherwise I'd be sure there would be plenty of mods by now that would fix the most glaring bugs.
@@A330Driver Yeah, I agree. That is a bit of an issue. Hopefully Asobo can address that problem by allowing us to download aircraft to our local machine, but I believe the other issue is encryption. Not sure how they could solve that one.
@A330Driver, Fun fact, this plane was in mobile flight simulators such as Real Flight Simulator (RFS) and Airline Commander which were both made by Rortos Flight Engine but the textures were bad in the cockpit but the avionics looks good but has the Boeing Avionics and GPWS
Love the Saab 340. Curious why they never released it for MSFS2020. Does it have the airstairs? I was hoping to see you open the cabin door and deploy the steps. Really hope someone develops a Convair 580 for MSFS 2024!
Carenado products have for the most part been fairly reliable in MSFS2020. It's almost as though this was a development version. Wonder if it was rushed by MS in order to release in time. Seems like this was the case with many default aircraft.
Would you do a ferry flight with the Supertanker? Possibly recreating the Chile ferry flight from Colorado Springs to Santiago? Or some flight from Colorado Springs to an area prone to wild fires?
I'd say the ATR works better, though it is payware. It's rather cheap though and also has a modern avionics suite, definitely worth checking out in my opinion.
Hello everyone. I need your swarm knowledge. I have the following problem with the MSFS2024. When I want to taxi off after pushback with one of the inibuilds airplanes (I haven't tried it with other airplanes yet), it seems like the airplane is stuck to the ground. Despite full thrust and the parking brake released, it doesn't move a millimeter. What am I doing wrong?
@ Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out tomorrow. Greetings from the only city in the world where you can explore the Concorde and the Tu-144 together in the museum, namely Sinsheim.

Its just with all the stuff thats broken, i did a night flight in it and i could not see what i was doing since no panel lights on the overhead was working
I bought the Premium Deluxe version. Now I wonder why? The Saab barely works, the Cessna 172 shakes like jelly as soon as a gentle wind blows, and if that wasn't enough, sitting in a switched off Fenix a320 in Munich EDDM, without traffic I have crazy 12fps. I know I don't have the strongest GPU, but it's still Rtx 3080. I expected a little more from the optimization. Maybe the MSFS 2024 optimization looks like a beta test of this Saab.. it just doesn't exist. The video is great as always! Regards 😁
Things used to be the same back in the day when MSFS came out as well. Eventually, with the Aircraft & Avionics updates, the additional aircraft mostly became good.
Hi Emmanuel. I have a quick question. Since you and me fly the same aircraft and we both like realism, where posible and accuracies, I just wanted to hear your point of view right now as it stands on msfs 2024 and if i should consider changing from 2020. I find the lack of turbulence in 2020 in clouds and lower alts annoying and really removes the fun for me.
Hello! Great video! I just have a quick question. Do you think that Microsoft and asobo will fix the A330 white avionics soon? It’s been a pain for me because I haven’t been able to fly for over 2 weeks. Cheers
Best to ask their official support for help with this issue. Not much we can do here in the comment section underneath a youtube video, sorry. I don't have more insights into Asobos inner workings than you have as well.
captain how do you do LOC approach on a 737 do you use LNAV/VNAV and dial down the minimums before FAF {final approach fix} or to use vertical speed let me know thanks
Hi, for a LOC approach you'd use VOR/LOC and VNAV under most circumstances. You fly it almost exactly like the VOR approach, just that you need the LOC frequency and courses tuned and will use VOR/LOC instead of LNAV. Apart from that you basically fly it like this: th-cam.com/video/tZcGyjryXzE/w-d-xo.html
Not yet. Supposedly Deluxe and Premium Deluxe aircraft will be available to purchase seperately when the Marketplace goes live, but we don't know the price yet. It's obviously going to be more than buying the whole bundle, but the exact price is not known yet.
Hi, it really comes down to where you are and where you want to go. Rather hard to explain in a comment underneath youtube, but I covered the question whether VNAV of LVL CHG is better in a video earlier last year: th-cam.com/video/_3bbbOPyBck/w-d-xo.html
Usually Flight Level Change (or VNAV) unless you are approaching a cleared level fast. That is a good time to change to vertical speed mode to avoid a TCAS resolution advisory. But be careful with vertical speed mode because in some planes you have less minimum airspeed protection. Have fun!
I might be wrong but I thought workingtitle coded the FMS for UNS1 FMC. Have to say I was very disappointed in this plane, it was one of my main reasons for choosing the premium deluxe version of FS2024 As for the sounds my hairdryer has better startup sounds than the SAAB.. Actually any of the Caranardo aircraft. Looks really nice though !
@A330Driver I'm sure I'd have seen it when pop up when digging around in the FMC, might have been when I powered the unit off and back on, I will check and update my comment
:( Sorry but The Saab 340 has a beautiful ignition noise, and you get shaken side to side on idle just from the vibration. Shame they couldnt even replicate that.
I see zero chances any of the bugs will be fixed. Actually I never saw Carenado doing this at any time in the past. They're rather importing the same fundamental bugs from Sim to the next sim and from one aircraft into another. Purchased this plane in P3d and it had exactly those kinds of bugs, that absolutely killed any enjoyment while flying. Really wasted money then. Since MSFS, at least their "simple" planes seem to be usable and feel halfway good (without looking into the details). But many years ago, I swore to never buy anything more complex than a single piston prop by them, let alone a turboprop with a pressurized cabin and FMC, which they never got even nearly right! At least this time, it's free, if you decided for the corresponding MSFS 2024 version. But that's definetely not a good advertisement for Microsoft if they count this as "default" alongside with many good ones like the A330 or the Vision Jet...
That's unfortunate that a decent flying plane gets let down by being dependant on the MSFS flight planning. For me these are the worst planes to fly because its too sterile and limited to really be interesting.
With 2400 hrs on the Saab freighter that was painful, not because of your flying it, but how many things they have wrong in that poor little Saab 😕
haha, I totally feel you! Even without a single hour on the real Saab it was painful to fly this knowing that probably not a single switch did what the real one would have done.
