I really miss old monster hunter, I wish they would release a anniversary bundle or something for modern systems containing a game from each of the four generations.
It would be fun to play mh3u online, as I only ever got to play on the 3ds.

Narga was one of my most favorite hunts back then. Such nice and effective i-framing.

This is the first time I’ve seen OG Narga. I like how small he is. It makes him unique. I wish he was that small in modern games. Hopefully he shrinks back down in 6.

2:26 MHFU nargacuga tail slam animation has always looked better than the 3rd gen ones they keep reusing -.-
I have it on my Ps Vita now. It's not the same feeling as on the PSP, but I can control the camera with the right analog now and it's godlike. No more claw grip for the PSP. But I have to say it wasn't a good idea to play g rank quest after almost 15 years without some training 😂 the quest was finished rly fast.
Anyway good to see I'm not the only one still playing the OG ❤

I really hope one day capcom brings a bundle to the switch cause I would love to play the older mh games one day.
Oh how the longsword has changed so drastically, some people prefer the old school longsword. I like Rise longsword, it offers more room for skill expression instead of everyone playing in the same way
Interesting. To me is exactly the opposite: in Rise I find the play style plain and boring, everyone plays the same way and there isn’t much room for skill expression. Have you actually tried second gen LS before asserting something like that?
@@PeppoLS To me dodge rolling and positioning is not as interesting as countering but maybe i’m missing something and need to go back and try it

@@grimreefer213 I love the dodge and positioning of Old MHs, but I also appreciate the Freedom we get on the Modern MHs. We should all just be happy that we're getting more MH.
@@PeppoLS what do you think makes old gen more interesting? I haven’t played before world but my assumption was always, more skills = more play-styles. I just think everyones choosing to play the same meta way now.

This one is one of my fav monsters of all time, because of it, i learn the dodge timing and i frame
God, comparing the limited moves of LS in this game to the literal-acrobatic LS in Rise just shows how much the game has changed since then.
Newer monster hunter is the player finding openings and eventually overpowering the monsters, meanwhile older monster hunter is the player having to adapt and keeping up with the monsters. One mistake is all it takes to get out of the zone.
@@zackzoom8779newer games have overloaded kits and moves for hunters. Meanwhile in older games monster was always stronger then you, no mistakes are allowed. There are only frw games in the world, that gives you that feeling of satisfaction after overcoming really hard hunt 🥹
where my journey begins, i miss this game a lot. First time i bought a PSP i play this game it is so fun, i remember clearly i always use eagle cleaver long sword and its progession throughout the run in MHFU, im so glad eagle cleaver came back in Rise

Narga was nothing more then a glorified meat shield for longsword and greatsword users in MHFU. Too easy in many respects, but I wouldn't risk a gun lance on him. You kept pace with him quite well, nicely done :)
I really miss the more grounded gameplay of older MH. Rise makes the game feel like generic hack and slash game, especially with how much meth they injected to LS while leaving shield weapons in the dumpster

This is expert LS execution. The details you show in the tactics here are missing in Rise, in my opinion.

nice stagger abuse and the intentional neck hit at 0:55. i think the main difference between mh now and back then is that now it's more of a reactive game rather than a game you go in with a strategy and plan
LS is just reaction nowadays. It's all about having good reflexes. Back then your position mattered the most, and you had to adapt a solid strategy to hunt a monster properly.
@@PeppoLS yep. definitely miss how important fade slash was because it allowed you to end your combo/do a quick punish + reposition at the same time. using s when rolling was also fun, especially when evade +1/2 was actually useful on pretty much every weapon. i don't see anyone using s on rolls these days
@@ShadowNarugaKuruga In rise they cut the s in half. I think you need evade window 5 for it to be the same as the default in world.

I feel like the basic Step Slash used to have a way cooler animation and SFX compared to it now in 5th gen. Step Slash effects feel like such a wet noodle nowadays compared to here

The monster seems to flinch very often from head damage, this is a huge difference from modern games, but maybe there were no topples back then?
