I first heard Jackson Browne in the fall of 1974 in my first semester in college. He has been my favorite performer, singer/songwriter, and poet ever since. He is a sage and storyteller for our generation and an avenue into the meaning of our existence, losses and wins, and political perspectives. I have nothing but love and well-wishes for this genius, poet and pied-piper of the spirit. We all will be forever grateful...

Best concert I've ever seen, Jackson Brown and Linda Ronstadt, at San Jose Center for the Performing Arts...1974. At the end both bands came back on stage and just jammed. Nobody left...don't think anyone even sat down. Never forget it!

went to a bruce springsteen concert at the L A coliseum. during the born in the usa tour and it was a great show, after he did his encore and the lights my girlfriend and i stayed in our seats waiting for the parking lot to clear outsome.well about 45 minutes later POOF the lights went back out and bruce and the E street band came back and said they felt like playing just a little bit longer and we hope you wont mind, My girlfriend and I moved up to 4th row center stage and watched them play for another hour and a half, every time i play this song it reminds me of a generation of kids and musicians who just loved the music GOD BLESS AMERICA

I can't hear this without thinking of my Husband. He was an electrical, audio engineer and production and auditorium manager for "Little Nashville Opry," in Nashville, Indiana. But he freelanced with many stars...in many venues, all over the USA.
He loved Jackson Brown and this song...

Another way to think about those lyrics is young kids working for a low wage in a job that gets them close to the performers, watch the shows for free and have some fun. This was likely a temporary job for most people. Who makes a career out a being a Roadie? Get real.

I was 20 when this song came out and a member of the us navy. My buddy, Fred Chaney and I, would drive down the road in Charleston, sc listening and singing along. Very few worries. To be young and carefree, again. But I guess that’s the secret to life: in our youth we don’t realize just how fleeting, fast, and short this life truly is.

Wow, I agree about the video, absolutely brilliant! Thank you! I recall the 60s, playing drums, going from place to place, not in the same league as Jackson, and always in our own transport, but the message was exactly the same then as it is now. The playing time was what it was all about and was just too darned short! I was always too nervous to go on, but then never enjoyed finishing, we could've played all night back then. Car was always packed up the previous night so we were ready to go, and sometimes we'd travel a fair way but we were never late except when we got home! Great song(s).

Been a passionate fan of Jackson's since the winter of '73 / '74. Saw him everywhere .... Beacon Theater - NYC 5 OR 6 times, Nederlander Theater NYC, Brendan Byrne Arena - N.J., Orpheum Theater Boston 2x , Jones Beach in NY, Lake Compounce in Connecticut, Sedona Arizona at Verde Valley School 5 times, Upstate NY political fundraiser for John Hall of the band Orleans, and in Hartford Ct., and the Capitol Theater Portchester N.Y. Even had the pleasure of speaking one on one with Jackson at the fundraiser. Best writer period.

Thanks for this ! Classic live music from Jackson Browne with the inimitable David Lindley (who can expertly play any known stringed instrument) singing falsetto.
JB, Lindley and Warren Zevon were collaborators on so much great rock music in the 70s

Spent almost 2 decades in the San Francisco music scene at the best time, 1967-1985, as a band manager and live audio engineer (I just turned 76 and hate that I can't mix anymore because my high-end hearing is gone).
I remember when this song came out, listening to it on FM while repairing electronic equipment in my shop. The song says what it's really like, so I loved it immediately. The arrangement and performance were just outstanding! This is an absolute favorite of mine.
The photo montage was excellent, BTW, conveying very well what a live show was like behind the scenes.

When I saw this guy in a clip of an advertisement for a Rock and Roll Hall of fame DVD, I had a hard time recalling his name, but listening to his music brings back a lot of memories.
    I like his sound.🤔💭🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
For the record, it really only took about 10 minutes of racking my brains to recall his name, but it's so frustrating when you know an artist,or anything really, and you can't rap your mind around the answer, metaphorically speaking.
I'm glad I did recall his name though, because his songs take me back to a specific time and place in my mind.
