The power in Chris's voice actually transcended the horrid phone cam audio quality. When he starts to belt out that chorus it's like his voice breaks through some dimensional rift that ignores the quality of whatever equipment is being used. This man's voice is too damn powerful to be constrained by technology.
The other thing to notice about the audience's reaction is the difference between before he starts singing and after. Before, it's like he's in some dive bar where nobody really cares that he's performing until after they start to hear him sing.....then crickets!
Laura Beth Cook yes!!! Came looking for this comment. Everyone was talking and cutting up UNTIL he opened his mouth. Anyone who can have a conversation while that man is singing is either literally deaf or not someone I wanna be around.
His voice is so amazing that it's easy to overlook the vocal choices he makes. Not just a giant talent, but a true artist. I believe he'll be considered iconic, like Hank Williams and Patsy Cline.
This is a song he wrote when he was with the group Jompsin Brothers. He has a few amazing songs that he wrote with that group. He was also a member of The Steeldrivers. You should definitely check out some of their stuff. I would still love y'all to react to Fool Me Again by Chris. Great reaction guys!!
Loved it! I recently saw a video of Janis Joplin doing the Tom Jones Show (1970-71 ?) we all loved because he had fantastic bands on. Janis and Tom sang and danced together so well together. Blown away!!!!
Many people know the song "Your Man" by Josh Turner in 2005 it was a number one hit. But a lot of people don't know it was written by Chris Stapleton. Please react to Chris Stapleton singing "Your Man" from the Bobby Bones Show.
Jompson brothers version is almost dangerous to listen to when experiencing a love loss like he's singing about. The music is so dark and hopeless and Chris' vocals screaming in excruciating pain. I don't know if there is a live version of them playing this song with the entire Jompson Bros. band but if there is that would be amazing. This acoustic version is excellent because....well Chris....but it doesn't have the same impact as the original. Even these guys left not feeling sad....the original leaves you in a different state completely if you've ever experienced something close to it. I hope you've found your smile and happiness again, it is possible, its different, but possible. Believe me
From the first time I listened to Chris S, it reminded of Janis J. They both express angst, anguish, suffering, etc. that you can feel yourself by listening. It's not always the lyrics or the singing of them, but the expression of the singer who transcends the lyrics. Some singers concern themselves with sounding "good" or "lovely" but aren't able to express emotions other than sweet or sad emotions. Personal suffering enhances one's ability to truly understand what it is really like, but not all are able to express it. Chris & Janis have/had that in spades.
Now you’ve heard the rock element from the Jompson Bros Days. The Steeldrivers, a blue grass group was really good. I think they did a version of “Midnight Train to Memphis” that you would enjoy. He also did this song in a live performance on Saturday Night Live with Sturgill Simpson that was great.
Also...this song doesn’t make me sad per se. it just brings back a montage of memories of doomed relationships.... my husband and I were separated for two years and the lead up to that wrecked both of us. I didn’t think I would make it. We’re back together and happy AF so listening to this just makes me “touch” the battle scars from that time period and shake my head that we pulled through
your comments are great! other Chris songs to hear if you haven't already: either way - death row - cover of its a man's world - sometimes I cry - I was wrong - north dakota and there are so many many more songs past and present! Amazing artist!!
So, Eddie's Atic in ATL is actually a well known club on the touring circuit. I was playing the same clubs when he was touring with Jompson Brothers ( around this time frame ) They had a huge following, but Chris went solo after this and the rest is history
Man, I wish that was a higher quality recording. It's just disrespectful to Chris' awesome instrument to not be able to fully appreciate it. Now I've got to find it somewhere.
Lol, we should just call it the "Stapleton Head Shake", because it's what we all do when he hits those big notes. We just sit and shake our heads in awe.
Did you know this song is from a ROCK band Chris was in around 2010? They were called The Jompson Brothers. I love that the first song on the album is Ride My Rocket. A different side of Chris for sure.
If you’re thinking about Janis Joplin lately, that’s all the more reason to get know Beth Hart/Joe Bonamassa She also has a live solo version of “Am I the one” (Live at Paradiso) that’s crazy good, from just after she got out of rehab for depression and addiction. She’s came a long way from there till today.
Did you notice all the noise and talking at the beginning and then he hit those notes and went from background noise to silence and everyone listening he just that damn good.
I didn't know he will be in Charleston! I would love to see him perform live so I gotta look into that. Will you guys react to Whiskey and You? (The one in the library setting) Please and thank you 😄
You need to do another reaction to the actual record cut for this song! I love this version but as you said the quality just isn’t there! Plus y’all will like the full band (Jompson Brothers) with him, the guitar riffs are great.
Still waiting for You are my sunshine! Would love for you to react to Fool Me again by Chris Stapleton, he was much younger and was known more for his song writing than singing at the time. You will love it! Ok my next request you may find a bit strange, Barbra Streisand and John Mayer singing Come Rain or Come Shine. I know, wtf but please give it a try, it is amazing.
I know it's hard, but I would like to know what has been your favorite by Chris! He is amazing there's nothing he's sings that is bad ,he could sing the phone book as they say ,lol
Hey guys. This is not a reaction request. There is an Aussie movie that has come out about a particular battle that the ANZACS where involved in in the Vietnam war that I would love for guys to see. Its called Danger Close.
Please please please check out his stuff from when he was part of the Steeldrivers! It's some of his greatest music! Some of their top songs are: "Where Rainbows Never Die' "If It Hadn't Been For Love' "Blue Side of the Mountain"
You need to hear the original version with him in his previous band The Jompson Brothers. They were a rock band and the original with the full band is how this song was intended to be heard. This live version is amazing and Chris' vocals are on point as always BUT the original song with its deep, dark bass and offbeat drumming sets an entirely different tone. This song was intended to be dark and painful. The lyrics and Chris' vocals are an expression of excruciating pain, that bass and those drums are needed to truly show this. Its an entirely different experience to hear the original with the full band. You said in the video "this song doesn't make you sad" and I agree this version doesn't.....but the original is almost dangerous to listen to if you were currently dealing with a love loss like that, especially if it was a toxic mindfuck situation. The original does make you feel it....it would be hard not to. Now, I would LOVE to hear a live performance of The Jompson Brothers or even Chris' current band playing this song with Chris wailing away. THAT would be amazing...I don't know if its on TH-cam anywhere but I guess I'll be searching after I finish this comment.
You guys crack me up. Love to see reaction to Carrie Underwood live How Great Thou Art....or any of her videos...Throw in some Adele and Bruno Mars live too...
Hey Guys, I’m a new subscriber and I’m a huge fan of the two of you, as well as a huge Chris Stapleton fan. Funny thing is I’m not into country music, but this man is something else. Absolutely more blues and soul than country to me. You need to check out Was it 26, Might as Well Get Stoned and Outlaw State of Mind. Thanks for the great reactions!
There is Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, classical music genres then there is the genre of Chris Stapleton. Laura Nievinski, have you heard No one to blame, Them Stems, Daddy doesnt Pray Anymore, Whiskey and You? Just to name a few. Although I have yet to find anything by him I dont love. I'll be glad when he puts out a new one though.
This one always blows me away! Wow. To hear another side, do yourself a favor and watch him with the Steeldrivers. They're all so good😍 th-cam.com/video/GizA_nhelR0/w-d-xo.html
What I especially love is the juxtaposition of his powerful voice accompanied with the sweet sounding acoustic guitar. It’s a perfect marriage.
The power in Chris's voice actually transcended the horrid phone cam audio quality. When he starts to belt out that chorus it's like his voice breaks through some dimensional rift that ignores the quality of whatever equipment is being used. This man's voice is too damn powerful to be constrained by technology.
We don’t understand the tech yet but it’s real.
This man's voice will pull you back from the edge, I promise.
Omg I thought I was the only one who noticed this!
I'm flying from Australia to see him in Memphis next month. Cannot wait.
He's definitely one of the small few artists that is worth spending the money and taking a long flight to see perform live
Chris is so unreal. He makes me cry with that voice.
His voice is so amazing that it's easy to overlook the vocal choices he makes. Not just a giant talent, but a true artist. I believe he'll be considered iconic, like Hank Williams and Patsy Cline.
Couldn't agree more 🔥🔥
Could you imagine listening this in some basement bar.
You absolutely need to go see him! You'll regret it if you don't. I was lucky enough to see him this summer.
Need to do Chris Stapleton fool me again
Yes!
I was just about to write that lol.
Yes.
goose bumps
Absolutely love the guitar on this song!! Thanks for this!
Melancholy is the word for the feeling when I hear it.
I work for an airline and considering flying to Austin in March to see him. I hope it’s a small venue. I want his voice to vibrate through my soul
I'm thankful for God's gifts. I really appreciate listening to Chris sing. It's hard to believe
Barely Alive always gives me goosebumps!
This will give you chills and raise hairs every time. So different. I cant place the style of it. And soooo good
Loved it! I recently saw a video of Janis Joplin doing the Tom Jones Show (1970-71 ?) we all loved because he had fantastic bands on. Janis and Tom sang and danced together so well together. Blown away!!!!

Yeah that real good one
Love this song best singer love chris Stapleton
I love that you did this one. I feel this way everyday. I love the version he did with The Jompson Brothers. Its so good as well On The Run!!👍
Jompson brothers version is almost dangerous to listen to when experiencing a love loss like he's singing about. The music is so dark and hopeless and Chris' vocals screaming in excruciating pain. I love how the crowd went from noisy and rowdy to quiet as a church the minute he started singing. Then they erupted.
WOW This man's voice is gold
Two words for Mr. Stapleton..Simply Amazing
As a female I know how I always want more.... He just does something wonderful with the songwriting and then the DELIVERY.........
Told ya, I love this song
just incredible talent .....
I swear to God,that man breathes and just exhales fucking MAGIC.
Whiskey and You.

No one deserves their success more than Chris Stapleton, but what I wouldn't give to have seen him in a venue like this before he became super famous.

What is there to say......mind blown

Almost can't stand how good he is...Almost.
Check out Yebba singing "My Mind" It blew my mind.
If you’re thinking about Janis Joplin lately, that’s all the more reason to get know Beth Hart/Joe Bonamassa
She also has a live solo version of “Am I the one” (Live at Paradiso) that’s crazy good, from just after she got out of rehab for depression and addiction. She’s came a long way from there till today.

Did you notice all the noise and talking at the beginning and then he hit those notes and went from background noise to silence and everyone listening he just that damn good.
