What is red backing plate ? Whats the doffrence in yellow plate

This video is a year old and I still have and use this polisher but I only use the yellow one. They look so simular but may be a slightly diffrent weight or thickness but both are velcro and very simular. My first impression is its just so you could have diffrent pads velcrowed to them and more quicly swap them out. The velcrow is very strong and take some work to get off. Those "springs" you mentioned are replacement brushes for the motor.

I really like this unit, works great. The only thing I would change is I wish it was battery powered for small quick polishes .... BUT then the performance may not be consistant.
