Yes "Dance with The Devil" is the only thing remotely similar props to Immortal Technique because anyone who heard it remembers it & of course props to Ren.
Bro, this man has such an amazing story of suffering for his art. I fell down this rabbit hole and have placed him up with TooL in my top 2 artist of all time. He deserves alllllllll the accolades he gets. His musical talent, lyricism, and flow is legendary. I have yet to find a bad song and many have made me weep like a baby. His catalog of songs and colabs HAS to be explored, you will not regret it I promise you that. His styles go from reggae, rap, bard style like this trio, rock, cover songs, soul, pop, and mash-ups of multi-style... check out "Humble", "Chalk Outlines", "Heretic", "Sick Boi", "Money Game 1 & 2", "What You Want", "Animal Flow", "Genesis", pretty much anything you click will inspire you to be a better musician and person in general. Just... plain... amazing!!!

This is my favorite performance by Ren. I connect heavily with Violet's story because I lived her life...only difference is I lived at the end instead....hits hard for a lot of DV survivors. Thanks for your reaction Sean! We appreciate the love you have for Ren.

'Hi Ren' was my introduction to Ren, and I was blown away. Then I watched this, and just fell in love (in a platonic way, you understand). Then I researched his story and decided to adopt him as another son (I already have a 26 and 8 year old boy, plus Mitch from PTX is my adopted child also. My maternal instinct is strong 😂). Then I saw his collabs with Chinchilla, and he broke my heart completely. THEN I found his rap, which I don't generally enjoy as a rule, and thought they were fantastic.
Yeah, there hasn't been a single song from him that I haven't enjoyed. He's, as you say, a maestro. And this, for me, is his masterpiece. There's another tale coming apparently, though not linked to this trilogy. I can't wait.

Oh man that optimistic hope for a happy ending as you start on the darkest of the three tales 😅 Afraid Ren wanted to instead paint such a vivid picture of a horrific story that it can make you physically uncomfortable and then hit you with a masterful twist at the end. He is a brilliant modern day bard drawing attention to real issues in the world. Ren is special.
Imagine being able to say that you have “Hi Ren” and this trilogy as your world of arts. One alone is a career defining masterpiece. He has ALL of these as well as others, and he still hasn’t given us all that he can give. Dude is a genius. A prodigy. He’s 1 of 1. He just an musician or artist, he a whole freakin experience.
Sean you should listen to an earlier time with his band the Big Push "I Shot the sheriff - Road to Zion- Hip hop" Red braces version. "Englishman in New York" "War pig" from the red brace busking set and Bongo Bong (Manu Chao cover) roof top version. You are now going down the rabbit hole that is Ren.

I have reviewed so many reactions to these tales and most had a shock at the end of the narration. But there were also those who watched to the end with a normal face. I was confused. How can you end the video so calmly??? haha And then I realized that they were just inattentively following the story and therefore the ending did not hit them as it should have been.

Jenny was a 14 year old prostitute. (She walked the streets a thousand times before. In high heeled shoes etc)
Screech's gf that he called after he stabbed Jenny, was hooking up with Patrick. That's why they were both busy when he was spinning out.
Violet was most likely pregnant by her own father. That's how she managed to get a council flat paid for by welfare at 16. Also probably why Stevie kept calling her a liar and a slut.
It's a horrific tale of generational violence and trauma. Is it nature or nurture. You can't tell because they were all brought up in shitty circumstances that lead to more of the same. So could it be a combination?
Ren is a master of his craft. He is the GOAT by a huge margin in my own opinion.
His pain has tempered his art into its own perfect form. I wish he hadn't had to suffer the pain, but I'm absolutely thankful that he was able to spin gold from his straw. He is amazing.

When you go back and register…and you will…Ren planted an Easter egg in Screeches tale. After Screech gets shot and dies Ren sings: This story ends right where it began with Jenny and Screech lying one street apart. Equating they died side by side just like the start when they were born side by side.

I could tell you were drawn into his world by the lack of pauses, an insightful summing up of what you had just witnessed. I did read from another source that the knocking on the door followed by the phone call was because his friend Patrick was with his girl. The word that sprung to my mind at the end (once I had picked up the pieces of my brain from the floor) was Ouroboros... the tail of the circular serpent eating itself. You were spot on Sir, the man is a master the likes of which we rarely see. Subscription added just for that open mouthed reaction sir.

I have enjoyed seeing your journey in Ren reactions. At first, all of your reactions were in the lens of “would I re-listen to this?” and slowly you’ve adjusted to understand the masterful artistry he has is so much more than making songs you can jam to. One detail that icaught was was a subtle early clue to the twist was when It's mentioned that screech was 14 years old. In Violet's Tale, Ren tells us that the year is 2 0 0 5. Add 14 years and you are in 2019, the year that Violet's Tale came out. The G.O.A.T. in deed!!!

Fantastic reaction, especially to the twist. Ren is unreal. He is such a storyteller. And the work he did with his buddy Samuel Perry-Falvey on the video was incredible. All of the small details added so much. It was captivating! It’s essentially a one-man 3-act performance art piece highlighting generational trauma and cycles of violence.
My favorite is Violet’s Tale, from the guitar playing, melody, use of the different rooms for acoustic effect, and the twist!

What a beautiful reaction! This is why it is so good that you always speak your mind. It makes your opinion here the more convincing. I love the trilogy. I have watched it so often, and it still gets me. Ren just explained in the Knox Hill interview that Hi Ren was made after the ones that are released now, and that things like that and Jenny and Screech are what he wants to make now. Can you imagine his Netflix show?
