It would be cool. Might even be in the plans for CK3. They changed the way unlanded characters work compared to ck2 and they now actually ''do'' things while being unlanded. Also you do not game over when you cheat your way to an unlanded character and if you get landed game continues as normal.
Even just being able to switch a ruler with non-generic unlanded characters using something like the character designer so we can play these characters on Iron man would be really nice.

There is one more. Leonardo Theoderisian in 1066. He is the only character of german culture in the entire game. He is not the best stat wise but a good character for interesting playthrough.
I captured El Cid accidentally after defeating a small Castilian army he was commanding. I was playing as Matilda di Canossa going for the Give a dog a bone achievement and was in my independence war from HRE, who had called Castile as an ally. I recruited Rodrigo and he went on to be my best commander. I eventually made him the Duke of Corsica in gratitude of his service. Friedrich von Hohenzollern is actually a playable count now after the Royal Court update. He holds the county of Zollern in the Dutchy of Swabia, Germany. 1066. There is also a Hohenstaufen count in that area. So you can recreate the Hohenzollern, Habsburg, and Hohenstaufen's respective rises to power within the Holy Roman Empire.
Quite ironic, reminds me of the time Karl VI of Habsburg saved Friedrich II from execution (by Friedrich's own father!), later Friedrich "thanked" the Habsburgs by waging war against Karl's daughter Maria Theresia right after Karl's death, taking Silesia from her. Friedrich died in 1786 and got finally buried in 1991. This is no typo.

El Cid! Saved my army from demise repeatedly when doing a Sancho the Strong campaign.
