You missed Laszlo, duke of Transylvania in 1066. He has really good stats, owns de jure territory of like 3 duchies, has a claim and high position in succession for the kingdom of Hungary, and you start the game in a faction to install you as the king of Hungary, which also starts stronger than the starting king.
@@crusadingbadger4333 @Peter Donlon My strategy was to form Norway, adopt elective succession and then island hop through the Mediterranean through East Africa and finally into Afghanistan. With elective you won't have to worry about confederate / gavelkind succession and your realm wont splinter which makes it all possible. Hope that helps!
Another fun and easy start is the 1066 emir of Marrakesh. You have a lot of land, quite a few neighbors to eat with your claims, and since your cousin is your liege, you get to learn a lot about faction mechanics to install yourselfon the throne. He's also got incredible martial ability
Forgot the name, but the Duke of friuli in 867 is worth mentioning. He starts with seniority succession, which is unique considering he is not of culture that allow seniority succession in early date (czech), and seniority itself only unlocked at earliest at 1050
This might just be my opinion, but I feel like Prince Rhodri of Gwynedd was overlooked in this video. He starts in prime position to form the Kingdom of Wales and has an immediate claim on the Ducky of Mann. He also starts off with some brilliant stats and a decent starting levy. He should have been somewhere in this list.
In the 800 start I recommend the Duke of Pagan (in Burma). You have a clear first goal of creating the Pagan kingdom, he has very high intrigue (over 20) and you get to play at the eastern border of the map. The more powerful Indian Kingdoms can become strong Allies or challenging foes.
In CK2 with Bohemia in 1066 i managed to be: king of bohemia, king of Italy and king of (forgot the name of the kingdom). Only by helping the Emperor of the HRE to put down some revolts. He gave me a ton of vassals and land. It took me about 15/20 years
Great to see you uploading again man! Missed your puns. If you're interested the č in Čáslav is pronounced like the ch in chai or champagne, not like a K. Basically like a ts or tz sound to oversimplify it. You can read it however you prefer though 😊
Another pick that’s basically a duke is the second son of the duke of Pomerania in 1066. He has he the intrigue to easily kill his father and brother to become the duke of Pomerania and if you switch to catholic you can also easily conquer the baltic states. He was my first campaign and it’s really fun.
Would also recommend Duke Nino of Portucale in 1066, pretty easy to break away from Galicia and form an alliance with one or more of the Iberian rulers that can help grab the land necessary for the Last Count, First King achievement. You can even parlay this into a Reconquista achievement, which is what I’m currently up to now.
it should also be worth mentioning that Vratislav has a relative that's a claimaint to the throne of the kingdom of Hungary, so with a solid alliance or a stroke of good luck, you can get the Přemyslid dynasty on two thrones at once, eventually controlling a gargantuan realm as a single character later down the line i'm legitimately convinced that the 1066 Vratislav start is the most disgustingly and blatantly OP non-king/emperor start in the game
Three. Your wife is a Piast, with a claim on the throne of Poland. Not to mention you constitute the totality of Czech culture, so development is a cakewalk. I'm not going to say it's more OP than Matilda or Rurik. But the range of options you have is amazing. You can play military and take one of 2 kingdoms. You can play tall and outdevelop all of central Europe. You can play the HRE game and get yourself on the throne (which is what I did), and thanks to House Seniority, once you're on the HRE throne, staying there is not difficult, because your heir is always going to be in the succession line.

Needless to say, some other vassals found out and blackmailed me for strong hooks. Not an ideal trait i would say....
I cant help but wonder what is the easiest way to get the blood eagle achievement. Does anyone know how to get it before you die as one of the sons of Ragnar ?
Easiest way (I think) is to start as Halfdan, convert to Anglo-Saxon culture and Catholic religion, plot to murder Alfred, and then conquer conquer conquer as quickly as possible, using the pope to get claims on most of England (since you won’t have conquest CB anymore.) I did it the hard way, by staying Norse and Asatru - but it’s *hell*, unless you like constantly being holy warred/crusaded on and crushing Catholic uprisings every few years. It was also a lot slower (despite the conquest CBs) and I was in the 1100s by the time I got the blood eagle achievement.
