Amazing! There are times when as a casual, you wonder, "How did someone figure this out!?", and then there are times like this, where you are like "How has it gone this long without any one finding this?!"
Yea, I can at least do this one. I wanted to do the twilight bow glitch until I looked up how to do it and that one is way too complicated for me to pull off.
The only logical way to find this out with out trying to do it on purpose is if you just wanted it to look cool so you make a fire and repeatably press A and get the sword
To those who cant get the glitch to work, put the campfire very near the sword and then position yourself where the sword is in between link and the campfire. Look straight to where both the sword and campire is; it should say "pull". Slowly look up until it changes to "sit". Sleep, wait, then start spamming A when the black loading screen fades out.
After around 10 tries I got it! The comments helped out a lot. I don’t think the positioning of the wood matters, as long as you’re somewhat between the wood and the sword, then look up, where link is barely visible (you have to still be able to see him, my failed attempts I was just seeing the trees, so make sure he’s still somewhat visible)…then mash the A button right when the screen goes dark…boom, master sword. Thank you!
I think this is the ticket. I did this fine my first few attempts, come back a few months later and can't get it once after 20+ tries. Should also add that I was pointing the camera towards the Deku Tree, not away, when it finally worked for me
IMPORTANT! Just tried this and need to comment that you MUST have a weapon slot available or it will play the jingle for getting the sword, but Link will not pick the sword up. You can just perform the glitch again, so it's not too disastrous, but save yourself the trouble
Yeah I know I just did it once and didn’t have the extra slot but then I emptied one and tried again and it worked I wonder how long it will stay in inventory?
GENUINE ! placed the wood in the same location as this video, then lit the wood.. positioned Link to view both fire and Master Sword, looked up at the Tree, Link barely visible, sat till morning, and mashed the A button.. the "Pull" turned into "Take" in a split second and BAM! MASTER SWORD ACQUIRED ! Thanks to this video tip and everyone in the comments for clarifying.
@Omega Iceman Cometh You know the best ways to make money? I personally think overloading the menu and showing this girl at a stable a sword is the best. In like half an hour you’d have more money than you would need in the entire game
unfortunately for people who want to skip the hearts requirement for the quest progression this glitch only gives link the master sword, not progresses the story so if you want the game to recognize that you have the master sword now for story reasons, you still need to pull the air where the master sword was.
>5 min detour later on to pull air for credit. Seems like a VERY small price to pay for a 30 damage unbreakable sword less than an hour into the game lol.
WORKED OCTOBER 2021!!! You have to have your camera positioned looking at the trees before you hit A for sit/wait. The first time I tried, I hit sit before I positioned my camera properly and it didn't work. Second time worked like a charm. TYSM
Fun fact: you are still able to do the Master Sword challenge, you just have to die (preferably on the pedestal) and the mission will be activated, now you need to move slowly on the pedestal untill you see the option to return the Master Sword. CONGRATS! You can make the Master Sword Challenge with only 3 hearts
Saw this video, booted up my save that was just past the Plateau, and within 15 minutes I had the master sword. INSANELY easy 10/10 would disappoint the Deku Tree again
I thought that tree would finally stop giving me lectures after ocarina of time, yet here we are in breath of the wild, I would do this on every save I have just to smite the tree
My head canon now is Link waking up from a night by the campfire and grabbing his equipment, not remembering that the nearest sword is the frickin Master Sword. Link: What? The Deku Tree: What? Fi: WHAT?!
EVEN FURTHER TO THE GLITCH! After you pull it, go in the shrine, come out. You’ll be prompted to do the trials. If you stand at the pedestal and face away, you’ll be prompted to place the sword for the trials :)
@@Menlover287 face away from it, if you face it, it’ll prompt to pull… if you stand in front of it and turn around it’ll prompt to put it back. You have to leave the area and come back though. You’ll get the writing prompt on the screen about the trial of the sword… then it’ll work
Thanks for this. I haven't yet played BotW but it was disappointing to hear you needed a certain amount of health to get the master sword (as I enjoy three-heart runs). I'm very glad to see this.
This is a freaking AMAZING discovery for someone such as myself who has disdain for hearts and ALWAYS upgrades their Stamina fully first. Now I don't have to do the damn thing where I trade my Stamina in for Hearts just to get the dang Master Sword! Fantastic! I will be doing this for all of my runs moving forward!
@@YourPartnerInCrime Lol indeed. I absolutely hate having no stamina. It's so much easier to get around in general with it maxed out. It's usually my main goal when doing a run of the game to upgrade my Stamina as fast as humanly possible. Whistle sprinting is a pain & alerts nearby baddies, & I don't like using Horses cus I end up missing too many pick ups as I zoom thru the world. I prefer to use flight to traverse large distances. That is literally how I travel to new areas, by launching off the tallest place I can to reach new areas. I don't travel long distances by foot in this game, not ever. There are too many excellent high up vantages near shrines to launch from. Like the top of the Twin Peaks is a fantastic place to launch off to areas around the bottom right corner of the map. I always make sure to scale that mountain to activate the shrine at the top as soon as I reach the tower nearby.
Fun fact: You can challenge the sword trials after doing this. After yoinking it, I did the Keo Ruug shrine, and upon exiting, the Trial of the Sword quest activated (without The Hero's Sword being complete- I guess the DLC checks inventory rather than quest completion). The pull/place prompts have slightly different hitboxes, so if you walk over the pedestal, you can get the "place" prompt to work. I really don't recommend doing this in master mode. At least, not if you only have the materials to make a triple defense buff last a measly four minutes- the bonus hearts just don't quite cut it. I assume it's manageable in normal mode, but I don't know since I refused to use this glitch on my first playthrough. I did manage to "complete" the beginning trials on three hearts (by shield clipping to the Hinox and cheesing it with magnesis). I then gave up on clipping out of the middle trials.

I mean, if the sword trials can be done hitless in master mode, then this really is just a skill issue, isn't it? The extra durability you need to kill stuff, plus the regen, plus no anti-OHKO, makes sword trials hard enough without having only three permanent hearts...
I have no luck doing it this way. I’ve tried a ton of times. My method-I walk in. Throw a chunk of wood directly in front of the sword, light it, and face the sword and camp fire. I span the camera up (almost anywhere), and it works every time for me. I cannot get this standing between the fire and sword method to work.
I haven’t even got 13 hearts yet for the master sword and it’s my first play through. I’m gonna grind it out to see the animation of Link pulling out the sword and then I will try this Cool glitch the next play through.
I tried it. My bf had to wait until he had the 13 hearts to get it and when I tried this glitch with only 4 hearts he was right next to me and when he saw this he was like "Wait whaaaat....?!!" Was so proud of myself ☺
As of 2/16/22 this still works. It took forever but I got it. If your having trouble. Make link transparent while looking at the blossom tree. You need the prompt on the screen while looking at it and he is transparent looking forward with the camera
STILL WORKS! amazing, i revisiting the game before the next one comes out. took a few tries, make sure link is kinda facing the sword because when he goes to 'sit' if hes facing away just a hair too much it wont register for him to take the sword. after i figured that out it worked! also saw another comment about going into the shrine right next to the sword and then exiting right away to trigger the trials and that also worked! peace of cake, thanks for the tutorial! good on the devs for letting us keep these little bugs and allowing us to play the way we want
That’s awesome, I’ve always told my self that I wanted to beat this game with no spoilers or any glitches but this is stupidly easy to do, I actually just found the master sword last night and didn’t have enough heart containers (5) and I’m torn on if I just do this now or come back to it in a month or two lol
It doesn’t take a month or two lmao just grind out the shrines. Trust me it’s much better to play the game how it’s intended on the first playthrough. I’m probably late and u probably already took the master sword a long time ago but still
@@thebutcher1412 aw that sucks, u regret it only a little but I’m here knowing that u would regret it so much more if u had known what a starting playthrough was like with no glitches was like. The fun part about it is the struggle for weapons. You didn’t have to struggle to find weapons as much as most people did, making sure u had a stash of extra good weapons in case ur best one breaks. The greatest thing is the anxiety of breaking your best weapon so u just never ever use it and keep using the slightly weaker ones lmao.
I've tried this a few times and it has not worked. Has it been patched I thought it wasn't getting patched any more I tried on master mode and before I even got the dlc and has not worked for me?
It still works! my boyfriend did the button mash part for me because I have slow fingers but it worked! IMPORTANT NOTES: make sure you have an open weapon slot in your inventory. also make sure you can still see link when you look up, get him to about half transparency when you select wait. also probably not important but it worked for me, have your shield out like you're locking on to the fire when you select wait
!!**FOR THOSE WHO SEE IT AS IT IS NOT WORKING**!! Make it so link is just barely visible when you are facing up! it increases the chances (speaking from personal experience) and helps you get it. That's what I did and it worked great! be sure you aren't too far from the master sword, be sure to be in front of it but still have the sit option. :) hope this helped!!
If it does not work for you (this may be obvious- well not for me) the shield needs to be equipped when you press on "wait until morning" don´t know if it´s a must but it worked
I can confirm it still works. Just did it. The tip I use is I try to pan out the camera view Perfect with the way he has in the video and I threw the wood almost exactly at the spot he did then when I stood behind the sword and the fire I looked up and try to match his picture also made sure that you SLIGHTY see Link still. Then sit till morning, once the screen goes black keep tapping A and don’t stop until you get the message that you got the sword
@limcube I’m sure I’m not the first to notice this, but after you get the sword this glitched way, you can stand away from the stone at an angle and place it back, starting the master sword trials
I remember back in the day with the very first legend of zelda you walk into the room with a digdogger and play the recorder and kill one of the mini dig doggers, and walk out of the room then back in the digdogger is gone. Now we have this glitch.
@@badkarma8689 Lmao that's not facts 🤣 The developers literally kept the harmess glitches in the game on purpose because 1. They're so obscure and complex that you won't ever do them by accident 2. Lots of people like them so why remove them and get rid of the fun? If you think Nintendo is just lazy then you're wrong. They even patched out the harmful glitches BECAUSE THEY CARE.
Still possible. If you're having trouble lighting the campfire, there's a cooking pot you can light a torch with. Then you can light the grass on fire, throw down the wood, light the torch, and then make your campfire
Update: I tried this out and it works. If you go back to the master sword, Link will just try to pull out an invisible sword that drains his life lmao. This is my first time playing BOTW so I'll be earning it the hard way. Either way, this is super sick!
One thing to note about this, though. You cannot then do the trial of the sword, as it'll still display the pull prompt. I haven't tested what will happen if you try to pull it out, whether it'll give you the sword or even possibly put it back. Edit: Okay, you can do it. You just save and reload.
Did they patch this to make it 10x harder? I tried it so MANY times using his exact setup and I only got it 1 time but my inventory is full this looks way harder to do now for some reason

As of NOV 29 2021 this worked on the switch… I did it exactly like he did. Now saying that, it took me several attempts as I was a tad to far from the sword to the campfire, With that being said make sure your feet is lined up with the triangle tip and that the campfire is closer to were you look to the campfire it says sit and the right to the sword it says pull. Sit till black screen comes up and rapidly hit the A button really fast till you hear the noise that you have the sword. Do exactly what this says but be aware of what I said because it won’t work without doing that. I promise it works, but the rest of the story line will not recognize you have the sword. So currently I’m working towards getting the 13 hearts to pull the imaginary sword lol. I will say having the master sword early definitely makes fighting enemies easier.

Also there is a double axe around the back or front of woodland stable that when I used it, it gave me 30 wood bundles from trees, so I could then give the wood bundles to bolson in hateno village and start on the tarrey town quest!

I didn't realize that right after waking up the next day, you very briefly get the option to "take" the sword rather than "pull". That's why I had to do it a few times. Make sure you take it when you get the prompt.
Sadly it’s patched, doesn’t work for me…….kept trying after a few attempts and I actually got it, holy crap, I didn’t actually believe it worked till I did it on my own…as of October 8,2021 it still works
I just did this out of curiosity and got the master sword on the first try. Actually you didn't have to mash the A button, the button A will trigger "Pick Up" and you just have to press one time.

probably just the short loading time right after sitting at a campfire, during which you can *take* the master sword instead of *pull* it, because the "pull" prompt has to be loaded in unlike the "take" prompt which i assume is preloaded for all weapons

Still works. Tried it 15 min ago. Question though: the quest ‘hero’s sword’ is just ‘open’ now. I assume this will stay that way until I have 13 hearts? (Even though I gor the sword)
Great deku tree: link you need to be strong enough to pull the master sword from its pedestal…(or a simple camp fire) Link: what was that last part? Deku tree: oh nothing never mind me, come back when you’re strong enough (or have wood for a camp fire)
If you have the dlc, if you tp away then back it'll give you the quest, then, if you approach the pedestal and walk back and forth you see the place option show up briefly, it's a bit hard to catch but you can do the trials with the glitches Master sword
Playing with my 8 year old daughter who is a complete savage, she already completed the game.... She was so disappointed she couldn't pull the sword because of her hearts. I think someone found it due to another person getting a yiga clan member to somehow steal the master sword. That’s what I read somewhere.

Fun fact: You can challenge the sword trials after doing this. After yoinking it, I did the Keo Ruug shrine, and upon exiting, the Trial of the Sword quest activated (without The Hero's Sword being complete- I guess the DLC checks inventory rather than quest completion). The pull/place prompts have slightly different hitboxes, so if you walk over the pedestal, you can get the "place" prompt to work.
I really don't recommend doing this in master mode. At least, not if you only have the materials to make a triple defense buff last a measly four minutes- the bonus hearts just don't quite cut it. I assume it's manageable in normal mode, but I don't know since I refused to use this glitch on my first playthrough.
I did manage to "complete" the beginning trials on three hearts (by shield clipping to the Hinox and cheesing it with magnesis). I then gave up on clipping out of the middle trials.

I'm sure it can be done... I mean, if the sword trials can be done hitless in master mode, then this really is just a skill issue, isn't it?
The extra durability you need to kill stuff, plus the regen, plus no anti-OHKO, makes sword trials hard enough without having only three permanent hearts...
Just tried this in master mode and my game crashed when I pressed place to start the trials

I have no luck doing it this way. I’ve tried a ton of times. My method-I walk in. Throw a chunk of wood directly in front of the sword, light it, and face the sword and camp fire. I span the camera up (almost anywhere), and it works every time for me. I cannot get this standing between the fire and sword method to work.

I haven’t even got 13 hearts yet for the master sword and it’s my first play through. I’m gonna grind it out to see the animation of Link pulling out the sword and then I will try this Cool glitch the next play through.
I tried it. My bf had to wait until he had the 13 hearts to get it and when I tried this glitch with only 4 hearts he was right next to me and when he saw this he was like "Wait whaaaat....?!!" Was so proud of myself ☺
As of 2/16/22 this still works. It took forever but I got it. If your having trouble. Make link transparent while looking at the blossom tree. You need the prompt on the screen while looking at it and he is transparent looking forward with the camera
STILL WORKS! amazing, i revisiting the game before the next one comes out. took a few tries, make sure link is kinda facing the sword because when he goes to 'sit' if hes facing away just a hair too much it wont register for him to take the sword. after i figured that out it worked! also saw another comment about going into the shrine right next to the sword and then exiting right away to trigger the trials and that also worked! peace of cake, thanks for the tutorial! good on the devs for letting us keep these little bugs and allowing us to play the way we want
That’s awesome, I’ve always told my self that I wanted to beat this game with no spoilers or any glitches but this is stupidly easy to do, I actually just found the master sword last night and didn’t have enough heart containers (5) and I’m torn on if I just do this now or come back to it in a month or two lol
It doesn’t take a month or two lmao just grind out the shrines. Trust me it’s much better to play the game how it’s intended on the first playthrough. I’m probably late and u probably already took the master sword a long time ago but still

@@thebutcher1412 aw that sucks, u regret it only a little but I’m here knowing that u would regret it so much more if u had known what a starting playthrough was like with no glitches was like. The fun part about it is the struggle for weapons. You didn’t have to struggle to find weapons as much as most people did, making sure u had a stash of extra good weapons in case ur best one breaks. The greatest thing is the anxiety of breaking your best weapon so u just never ever use it and keep using the slightly weaker ones lmao.
I suggest going back to botw and doing a glitchless playthrough you’ll see what I mean

I've tried this a few times and it has not worked. Has it been patched I thought it wasn't getting patched any more I tried on master mode and before I even got the dlc and has not worked for me?
Nvm I was spinning the camera while spamming a and looking up idk why i couldn't before but I got it!
It still works! my boyfriend did the button mash part for me because I have slow fingers but it worked!
IMPORTANT NOTES: make sure you have an open weapon slot in your inventory. also make sure you can still see link when you look up, get him to about half transparency when you select wait. also probably not important but it worked for me, have your shield out like you're locking on to the fire when you select wait

Make it so link is just barely visible when you are facing up! it increases the chances (speaking from personal experience) and helps you get it. That's what I did and it worked great! be sure you aren't too far from the master sword, be sure to be in front of it but still have the sit option. :) hope this helped!!

I can't get it I lined up everything the way he had it and it wouldn't work.
If it does not work for you (this may be obvious- well not for me) the shield needs to be equipped when you press on "wait until morning" don´t know if it´s a must but it worked

I can confirm it still works. Just did it. The tip I use is I try to pan out the camera view Perfect with the way he has in the video and I threw the wood almost exactly at the spot he did then when I stood behind the sword and the fire I looked up and try to match his picture also made sure that you SLIGHTY see Link still. Then sit till morning, once the screen goes black keep tapping A and don’t stop until you get the message that you got the sword
i cant believe it took me 3 tries to do this. first time i got the blood moon cutscene, then on the other my inventory was full omg
@limcube I’m sure I’m not the first to notice this, but after you get the sword this glitched way, you can stand away from the stone at an angle and place it back, starting the master sword trials

Glad I found this. I was tired of breaking swords on mobs faces every few fights.
Still works 2 June 2023. Took a few tries. Make sure you can still see the sit option when resting, dont look to high up into the sky
I remember back in the day with the very first legend of zelda you walk into the room with a digdogger and play the recorder and kill one of the mini dig doggers, and walk out of the room then back in the digdogger is gone. Now we have this glitch.
Can confirm, still works. Takes a few tries to get the positioning just right but still saves a lot of time grinding out shrines

The developers literally kept the harmess glitches in the game on purpose because
1. They're so obscure and complex that you won't ever do them by accident
2. Lots of people like them so why remove them and get rid of the fun?
If you think Nintendo is just lazy then you're wrong. They even patched out the harmful glitches BECAUSE THEY CARE.

Still possible. If you're having trouble lighting the campfire, there's a cooking pot you can light a torch with. Then you can light the grass on fire, throw down the wood, light the torch, and then make your campfire
Update: I tried this out and it works. If you go back to the master sword, Link will just try to pull out an invisible sword that drains his life lmao. This is my first time playing BOTW so I'll be earning it the hard way. Either way, this is super sick!
Yeah do it the hard way it is fun but if you play the game all over again remember this
In a 3 heart run this glitches are essential
One thing to note about this, though. You cannot then do the trial of the sword, as it'll still display the pull prompt. I haven't tested what will happen if you try to pull it out, whether it'll give you the sword or even possibly put it back.
Edit: Okay, you can do it. You just save and reload.

Did they patch this to make it 10x harder? I tried it so MANY times using his exact setup and I only got it 1 time but my inventory is full this looks way harder to do now for some reason

Btw you can also use a bomb arrow to easily light a torch, I started a new save to see how fast I could do it and it was like 10 mins not optimised

As of NOV 29 2021 this worked on the switch… I did it exactly like he did. Now saying that, it took me several attempts as I was a tad to far from the sword to the campfire, With that being said make sure your feet is lined up with the triangle tip and that the campfire is closer to were you look to the campfire it says sit and the right to the sword it says pull. Sit till black screen comes up and rapidly hit the A button really fast till you hear the noise that you have the sword. Do exactly what this says but be aware of what I said because it won’t work without doing that. I promise it works, but the rest of the story line will not recognize you have the sword. So currently I’m working towards getting the 13 hearts to pull the imaginary sword lol. I will say having the master sword early definitely makes fighting enemies easier.

Also there is a double axe around the back or front of woodland stable that when I used it, it gave me 30 wood bundles from trees, so I could then give the wood bundles to bolson in hateno village and start on the tarrey town quest!

I didn't realize that right after waking up the next day, you very briefly get the option to "take" the sword rather than "pull". That's why I had to do it a few times. Make sure you take it when you get the prompt.
Sadly it’s patched, doesn’t work for me…….kept trying after a few attempts and I actually got it, holy crap, I didn’t actually believe it worked till I did it on my own…as of October 8,2021 it still works

I just did this out of curiosity and got the master sword on the first try. Actually you didn't have to mash the A button, the button A will trigger "Pick Up" and you just have to press one time.

probably just the short loading time right after sitting at a campfire, during which you can *take* the master sword instead of *pull* it, because the "pull" prompt has to be loaded in unlike the "take" prompt which i assume is preloaded for all weapons

Still works. Tried it 15 min ago. Question though: the quest ‘hero’s sword’ is just ‘open’ now. I assume this will stay that way until I have 13 hearts? (Even though I gor the sword)

If you have the dlc, if you tp away then back it'll give you the quest, then, if you approach the pedestal and walk back and forth you see the place option show up briefly, it's a bit hard to catch but you can do the trials with the glitches Master sword
Playing with my 8 year old daughter who is a complete savage, she already completed the game.... She was so disappointed she couldn't pull the sword because of her hearts. I'm playing this for the first time ever, and stumbled upon this video. Worked exactly as you instructed. Had to do it twice however since I forgot I had a full inventory of melee weapons lol. This ought to make the game interesting, for I am relatively early in my journey.
