Okay first of all , YOURE AMAZING. I’ve been wanting a custom carbon fiber steering wheel for my car but the prices are like $600-$1600. I have a Honda I’m not paying that LOL. Now I’ll be able to do it myself. You deserve a million subscribers. Wish you a very prosperous 2020. Tomorrow I’m going to the junkyard and getting a second steering wheel 🦾

For any one starting carbon work and is serious in it take a few extra bucks and buy a inexpensive vac pump and some bagging materials along with some release film. This will make your work much easier. For very complex parts that you are trying to laminate to a little cheat trick is wet down the surface first with epoxy and wait until its very tacky then apply cloth. This will keep the inside corners or wrap in place. Some beginners use a very light coat of 3m spray adhesive and stick cloth to that then wet down with epoxy. When i first started I did a few boat hulls this way and it actually worked very well.
To ECO LAB thanks for your dedication and hard work. I know first hand its not easy to du these tasks let alone recording step by step. Hope you are safe and well thanks.

Great video. I was wondering how to wrap the parts with carbon and make it have a nice touching point when both ends touch. Did you simply overlap them and then sand the extra?
How do you keep the carbon from distorting its weave, biggest help is the gel?
After you remove the heatshrink and start sanding isn't there exposed carbon that you damage since there isn't much resin?
    Thank you.

    • @ECOLAPStudio
      @ECOLAPStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, buddy!!
      Thanks for the comment.
I think your questions are very important and good.
First, as you say, I think the important thing in carbon fiber overlap cutting is to keep carbon fiber patterns.
I used spray adhesives to solve the problem.
Using a spray adhesives can keep the carbon fiber patterns.
But, You have to use minimum amount because if you use too much spray adhesives, surface is not clean.
Other methods include applying epoxy resins and then cut after half cured.
But I think it is a hassle way.
And then in the first sanding,It exactly damaged to the carbon fiber cloth.
However, if you minimize the damage and then apply epoxy resin, the damage is indistinguishable from the eyes.
Sanding to the extent that carbon fiber patterns are not damaged is be okay.
The important thing is keeping the pattern of carbon fiber.
I am worried you will can't understand my meaning because I am not good at English.
      I hope you helpful.
If you have more question, please reply.
      Thank you for watching.

      Hello, Buddy!
I bought materials from a Korean online shop.
However, Korean online shops do not ship overseas.
So I'm going to show you an online shop in the UK.
Maybe you can find what you want.
Also, if you want skinning, I recommend 240g carbon fiber cloth.

      Hello, Buddy!
I don't think that most heat shrinkable films are very different.
However, It is not necessary to use a heat shrink film.
You can meticulously attach the carbon fiber.
      I hope you helpful.

is the 220 not too hard? there is only one coat of resin, how can you not ruin the Carbon? when I use the 400 I immediately get to the fiber and ruin it

      Hello, Buddy!
I didn't sand too hard the first time I sanded.
You must sand the carbon fiber cloth to avoid damaging the pattern.
For the second sanding, apply several layers of epoxy resin and sanding.
At this time, It can sand to a lot of epoxy resin and shape the steering wheel.
Even the sand paper of the P220 can be adjusted according to the strength of the force.
And the scratches on the P220 sandpaper will all disappear after applying epoxy resin.
You should not shape done when first sand.
The second sand is very important.
      I hope you helpful.

      Hello, Buddy!
Forged carbon fibers aren't too different either.
In order to make forged carbon fiber, compression is required.
      Shrink film plays a role.
I hope your work goes well.
      Thank you for watching.
