I walked up to Kinder Scout with my lovely Rough Collie Jake and later Alfie both Lassie dogs in the snow and saw a Hare that was totally white the views were amazing and on both occasions i loved it . Jake passed away 10 years ago and Alfie 6 months ago and they have both given me so many good memories in the Peak District and helping me complete the Wainwrights precious memories i will never forget . Love your videos .
For those of us who unfortunately are unable to walk as far as we used to be able to your videos make us so happy to watch someone so obviously enjoying every moment - thank you and keep on keeping on my wonderful nephew x
Alex, I know this is a year ago, but you are a machine. 10 miles 'legs feel good'. I did the 13.08 miles total to Alport Moor and back, and it wiped me out. Mind you, I'm probably older than your Dad. You said he was 70 odd, but I think you gest. I'm 61 and 3 off finishing my Ethel Challenge. Now you were asking for ideas. It isn't a big one, but the Crowden Horse Shoe would be a great vlog. I've only done it half way round but on the 88 Trig Point Challenge, I'm hoping to complete it. As regards this vlog. Another fantastic one Alex, thank you for sharing.
Following in my dad and his friends footsteps about 70-80 years on….it was at this point Alex had to move out of the family home 🤣🤣 Brilliant video as ever, I’m having a short ramble around Malham this weekend, and if the weather stays fine, it may be time to give the Peak District a try, your certainly painting it as a beautiful picture 👍🏻
5th and will give this the glory is deserves on the TV too, genuinely interested in this walk for our selves, so will be watching and taking notes from the master! Thanks you Alex, looks fantastic and we can't wait to hike along with you virtually, catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ❤⛰👍🗺☕🧭
Hope you enjoy it guys! I couldn’t recommend a better walk to do in the Peak District, you’d absolutely love it! Some nice little bits of history in the area as well 😁 thank you guys! 👍❤️☕️
Did this yesterday... by Mile 18 I was cursing you... but at the end I was made up.. thanks for the video as I'd have never known about this route otherwise... 👍
This is a great video and shows perfectly the way to do the Edale Skyline challenge. I am going to do this walk with a group and midwives and friends next weekend to raise money for mental health in maternity. I will share this recording with them. Thanks Alex.
That was an epic days hike. I have walked most of this, but never all of that route in a day. It makes me miss those days when such a walk was a possibility. I was never really into doing walks as challenges but I do remember one that I did when I was 15. A group of us did the Lyke Wake walk which took us from Ravenscar on the Yorkshire coast to Osmotherley in the Vale of York. The walk was 42 miles to be completed in 24 hours. I do remember a few hours of rough sleep in the heather after most of the group had stopped in a pub (at Blakey Ridge). Two of us were too young to go in! I remember the last section on the Cleveland hills being a bit tough as there were plenty of ups and downs which took a bit of work. I know the last few miles I was slowing and most of the group hurried ahead to the pub in Osmotherly. I am sure that if you want a challenge this would be a good one to have a go at. We did however has a mate in his mini bus that met us early morning with breakfast and could have bailed at that point. Anyway you did ask! Thanks for showing us your Skyline adventure.
Thank you Ivor! Wow, what a fantastic story! That sounds like an incredible walk, 42 miles is a serious distance to undertake on foot and at 15 that is extremely impressive. I’ll add that one to the list and give it a go when I’m a bit fitter! Thanks for sharing Ivor, brilliant story! 👍😁
The Manchester Evening News published day hike directions every Friday in the 1960's. Using the news article we took the saturday 8am morning train from M/C central station to Hayfield and hiked by way of kinder over the top to Edale. Then took the 3 pm afternoon train from Edale back to M/C. This was 60 years ago. No crowds like today, we never saw more than one or two people, today its rather crowded.
That’s fantastic! It’s an amazing route isn’t it, I actually did it again today and my legs are also extremely sore 😂 definitely worth it though! Hope you have a great weekend, thank you! 😁
Great video. I completed this walk just yesterday and it is as fabulous as you describe. I added on a detour to Hope for a full English at Granny Mays Tea Room which is a fine enhancement to route.
That sounds fantastic!! I definitely approve of that detour 😁 I actually did it again today! Definitely one of my favourite Peak District routes. Sore legs but definitely worth it! Thank you very much and hope you have a great weekend 😁👍
Great video. Did Win Hill last year but not via the Edale skyline, but up Parkin clough. I don't recommend that at all, it's a difficult ascent and there are no views on the way, but the views at the top are absolutely worth it!
Wow this looks absolutely incredible. 20 mile circular, we are sold, as soon as the lighter days come in we will be following your expert advice and following your footstep. Lovely early start. Great video!! 😍👍🥾
I’m keen to do this hike, might try it as a 2 parter with a wild camp in the middle. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. The Peak District is so incredibly beautiful and full of amazing views and countryside 😃
Its an amazing walk! That’s a brilliant idea, I’ve also thought about doing a halfway camp, would be a great couple of days out in the Peaks! Highly recommend doing the route though, takes in some of the best Peak District views! Thank you 😊
@@bilaltahir9978 there was only a 100 yard patch that there was no clear route thru some boggy stuff up near kinder but other than that it was bang on..but we have had a fair bit of rain since but I can't see it been too bad..after all 100 yards out of 21 miles ain't bad
That’s fantastic, top work!! It is a very long day isn’t it! I actually did it again today, sore legs but always worth it for the amazing views! Hope you have a great weekend, cheers 👍😁

Hi Alex this looks a fantastic walk I don’t know if I could do it now though, I did a long walk along time ago called the Dark Peak Challenge walk by John N Merrill which took in Stanage Edge then Derwent Edge and Win Hill a 24mile walk from Hathersage i had glorious hot sunshine all day and I was Sun burnt that was back in 1990 I’ve got great memories of that day and loads of photos of it thanks for sharing your lovely day with us and thanks for subscribing to my Channel and I’ve subscribed to your channel Cheers Glenn 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much Glenn! Wow that sounds like a fantastic walk! I love Stanage and Derwent Edge, I’ll definitely give that a go! Thanks for the great idea! Added to the list of walks to do this year! Thank you 👍😁
Absolutely smashed it Alex! Great video, great views, great music! Stunning weather too. I cannot wait to do this in June! Have to take a proper look at Jaggers Clough too 😁 What a great start and finish, sunrise and sunset…. Simply stunning 👍
Thanks Greg!!! It’ll be a fantastic time of year to do it in June, nice full day of light so it can be fully enjoyed, maybe even a wild camp halfway round or at the end 😁 Jaggers Clough is definitely on the list for this summer 👍 Really appreciate your support as always Greg, thank you! 😁👍
Fantastic video mate. I’m currently doing the Peak District trig point challenge, I’ve got this walk on my to-do list but gonna add on a little bit to bag Kinder Low and Edale Moor trigs. Liked and subscribed 🙂
Would be great if you could explain how some of these places got their names including streams, hills, pubs etc... as you mentioned you look forward to growing your channel..! Anyway I enjoy the walks, look forward to your next... best of wishes from Chape-en-le-frith
Big ole clip that mate! 👌🏼 One I’ve not hiked yet. Done the full Kinder Plateau but the Edale Skyline is definitely on the list. You picked a cracking day for it. The Peak District at its very best 🥰 As for challenges. If you like to mix in a bit of a run I’ve seen someone do the Lakes Big 4 (3000’s) in one go recently. Scafell, Scafell Pike, Skiddaw and Helvellyn. 46 miles of pure punishment! Too much for me as I don’t do running 🤣 But might be worth a crack for ya 👍🏼
Thanks mate! Couldn’t have asked for a better day! Highly recommend it especially on a clear day to fully enjoy the views. Wow now that sounds like a proper challenge 😂 might be worth splitting into two days and camping halfway to make it a bit of a less painful experience 😂, thanks for the great idea though! I’ll add it to the list 👍
Alex - sorry I'm a bit late here, but have just discovered your channel and I'm catching-up on some brilliant videos. Can I ask - I've been fancying doing the Edale Skyline from Hope in the spring with a camp about 2/3rds the way round, do you think Lord's Seat would be a good location with the added bonus of a possible sunrise over Mam Tor? ...now back to those videos - cheers!
No I haven’t, it’s funny you say that because I was just looking at that route the other day! Looks really good and definitely going to attempt it one day. Cheers 😊
Epic walk there Alex. Not sure you could have had better weather for the Edale skyline. The sunrise was the perfect start to the walk. Really enjoyed this one and it’s certainly tempted me to give it a go myself. Are you planning the Kinder skyline next? That’s an epic walk too which I did last year.
Thank you Anthony! I couldn’t have asked for a better day of weather could I! Highly recommend doing it especially on a clear sunny day.
