- One of the boldest innovators of postwar American painting, Sam Gilliam often referred to the influence, impact, and ethos of jazz and musical improvisation on his work. To honor the artist’s legacy, Pace Live presented a two-part concert with musicians Jason Moran and Slauson Malone 1 (Jasper Marsalis), who in turn have been influenced by Gilliam.
Slauson Malone 1 is a performance work created by Marsalis, an artist and musician who explores the intersections of popular music and avant-garde performance. His past releases include A Quiet Farwell, 2016-2018 (Crater Speak), and he is joined here by cellist Nicky Wetherell.

I feel so thankful for life and art every time I come back to watch this. I was constantly listening to Crater Speak and this perfomance during the best days of my life.

So damn good, I love how passionate the man is. I would love to see him produce for someone else too. There’s not many artists that would not sound amazing on a record of his.
he has a mixtape with hip hop artist Medhane under the monicker Medslaus. He also used to be part of the jazz ensemble Standing By The Corner, producing 2 LPs and featuring on many records as production especially Earl Sweatshirt's album Some Rap Songs.
@@cenjal1665 and L'Rain's "Fatigue" album as additional producer!
what's the name of the painting in the background?
