hes like, the chillest guy in history. never once breaking his lax attitude. never once losing his charm. you could probably cut off his arm and you'd only get very mild surprise from him
I never realized how many name changes this cereal went through. It went from Sugar Crisp, to Super Sugar Crisp, to Super Golden Crisp, to just Golden Crisp, then back to Sugar Crisp again, then back to Golden Crisp, and finally back to Sugar Crisp once more. I didn't remember it being called anything but Sugar Crisp, but now that I think of it, I do recall seeing the Golden Crisp boxes in the store. I don't remember seeing most of these commercials though, just the ones from around the late 90's. I wonder if commercials like these are still being made? Something tells me that parents today don't like sugary cereal being marketed to their kids. Promotes obesity and all that. You definitely notice a shift away from the cereal giving Sugar Bear extra strength, first turning him briefly into the Hulk, becoming naked in the process for some inexplicable reason and getting his clothes back post-transformation, then basically turning him into Popeye. To say the marketing was misleading is an understatement. It's pretty hilarious to think that someone thought to take a cereal with "sugar" in the name and try to make it seem healthy.
The cereal never underwent any name changes in Canada, which is why the commercials still call it Sugar Crisp, it's still called Golden Crisp in the US
SUGAR CRISP became GOLDEN CRISP in 1985 in the US, and remains that here to this day. In Canada, though, the name never changed. The SUGAR CRISP ads in this video are from that land. Hope this helps.
Sugar Bear You have been filed for third degree robbery, attempted assault of a senior, attempted assault of a minor and 4 counts of theft. How do you plea? Sugar Bear: well granny, I'm just too guilty to get enough of that sugar crisps You're sentenced to life.
It's heartening that the same guy did the voice of Sugar Bear for 40 years.
It's the role Gerry Matthews was born to play.
I thought it was Maurice (Hugh Tasmanian Devil) Lamarche.
Derik Penman He probably took over.
Yeah, I wouldn't figure he voiced him anytime before 87.
Derik Penman He might have also done it just for the Canadian market as well.
The Sugar Bear lore seems to be ever evolving...
He's an addict.
@@Flargo1 could be worse better to be an addict to sugar then drugs or something worse :/
Whoever voiced Sugar Bear is an absolute legend
It was Gerry Matthews who voiced Sugar Bear
I love how he just casually handles literally any situation.
