- Around June of this year, someone on Archive.org published a ''beta'' version of The Lion King sequel, which contained a bunch of deleted scenes, as well as others that were re-worked rather than entirely scrapped. After watching it for myself, I've decided to sit down and crop these parts separatedly, as well as add subtitles for those whose main language isn't English or cannot listen to the video at the moment.
Here we see a scene that never made it to the final product, right after Kiara's presentation but before she is presented to us as a cub rather than a baby. We get to see more of the Outlanders, which means more on-screen time for Vitani and Nuka as well as cub Kovu and Zira. I love how this scene showcases how innocent and harmless Kovu used to be before being brainwashed by his mother...
I know other channels have probably uploaded these scenes already, but I'm doing this just for fun. Also, I'm aware that part of this deleted scene has been up on TH-cam for years now, but it was in way worse quality and it cut off right after Nuka was like ''oh yeah I can do that''.

To be fair you can use the term affectionately but it’s more often used by villains than heroes
Pet is often used as an endearing name but I can't really tell from this snippet alone if Zira is using it affectionately or not.

This intro explains everything... The beginnig of the story is more clear. We know what characters we can expect. This is a perfect image of a relationship between Nuka and Zira. So Nuka wasn't a fool. He wanted to be someone important, but only for his mother. I can't imagine how desperate he really was. He was treated like... A rubbish. On the other side, Zira hadn't noticed him all his life. That shows how harsh, psychopatic and power-hungry she was. Even in this scene we have a proof of her character traits.
Kovu was good and innocent. He fell victim to his mother's manipulation. And Vitani was very intelligent cub.
I can't believe Disney deleted the best scenes from the movie... It tells more about our characters, they're more deep! Why, Disney? How could you destroy your own masterpiece?!
I’m pretty sure it’s because this whole scene is a really heavy handed exposition dump. The exposition doesn’t flow naturally, they are discussing things they should already know as characters as if talking directly to the audience instead.

This is the first time I've seen the last scene. I've long felt that the reason this segment was cut was because it humanized the antagonists too much... Which if that's the case, I really wish they didn't, because in a way it validates the "we are one" moral even more. Scar had a family outside of his relation to Mufasa, and the cubs- including Kiara (and later in the Lion Guard, Kion)- are all affected in some way by Scar's crimes.
I can assume that it was also removed because then at the time of the first meeting of Kovu and Kiara, Kovu would be closer to the age of a teenager than a child (since it is shown here that Kovu already has a small mane and certainly not the size of a newborn, while Kiara, on the contrary, is still quite a baby).
in short, they would have a possible age difference, which in turn would frighten Kiara, and she most likely would not even offer him to play, or simply would not talk to him.
This is one the best deleted scenes I’ve seen. It is the perfect way to introduce Zira, Kovu, Nuka and Vitani. Not to mention that score is a good callback to the first film
I love so much the moment when Zira said "your kingdom" with the instrumental behind and showing the Priderock. This how she looks the Pridelands. Her home. Sounds like she miss being here.
I mean, the pridelands is where they finally had good food, safe environment ect

No he tired to get nala as his queen but then she rejected him then zira came and he let her to come to pride rock Because he found that chance to get a queen and got a queen!Xd
@@Hashim-Shorts So, Scar tried to choose Nala as a queen, but Nala rejected that. Scar vanished Nala by using Hyenas. After that, Zira visited Prideland and became the most loyal of Scar. While Zira and her lionesses are gone for a while, Simba came back to Prideland. Scar is dead. Hyenas(Shenzi, Banzai, Ed) ran away from Prideland and Elephant Graveyard. When Zira and her followers came back, Simba was the king and he vanised Zira and her followers to Outland. Is this right?

Zira was a cub whilst meeting scar, and grew with him basically. She didn’t know and if she did she probably would still be devoted to him.
Why was this deleted? It gives so much lore the movie needed. I think keeping this scene would have made the movie a whole lot better than it already is.

As great as it is to see more interaction between Zira and her kids, and another between Rafiki and Mufasa, I think I can see why they changed things:
1. In this pass, Rafiki is surprised to hear of Kovu's existence. Considering that Zira describes the latter as being "the last born" before Scar's followers were banished, the former almost certainly would have known about him.
2. Meeting Zira and family and hearing their backstory right after the opening, and then again after Kovu and Kiara first meet, would have been redundant; not to mention, seeing them so early takes away that element of mystery that is present in the final film, where we're introduced to Kovu and Zira at the same time as Kiara.
They should’ve kept the scene of Kovu being a sweetheart to the bug
That ending... It's just majestic, gives me chills every time

Honestly I would have liked this in the movie
My fanon: Zira was pregnant with twins (Vitani and Kovu) right before Simba came back and killed Scar, but the father was a different lion. Zira had two mates in her lifetime, both rogue males (she had Nuka by her first mate) and became obsessed with Scar during his reign as king given her power fetish. Scar was obsessed with Nala though, and was ambivalent to Zira’s affections. Kovu was born shortly after he’d banished Nala for rejecting him/insubordination, and partly out of despair for having lost the lioness he intended to mate with, he flippantly remarked that Kovu should be heir to the throne when Zira excitedly pointed out the coincidental resemblance. Zira of course took this seriously, leading to the events of the second film.
Nah its scar it’s kept secret because it was his dying wish.

I know Zira's isn't the best of the mothers, but I really liked the shot where her cubs run behind her. They look more like a family.

It’s interesting how Kovu is said to have been chosen by Scar. Though Scar was never alive at a time to do so, being that Kovu is so young.
@Mr. Kay_27 The reason it’s impossible is because Kovu and kiara are both such small cubs. If Kovu had been born when Scar was alive he’d be far bigger than Kiara.
The outlander lions were definitely malnourished.
I have the theory that Kovu to Zira is Scar’s “chosen heir” is her believing he’s Scar’s reincarnation, due to how similar they look.

Honestly, the main reason me and alot of other people don't hold this film in high regards, is because Disney did not want this film to be mainstream or in theaters. Because they wanted it to be quick and straight to VHS, the team did not have the budget to spend more time and money on the project. Therefore, the crew could not get Hans Zimmer, Elton John, and Tim Rice for the music. Nor the directors writers and other to work on this. The original film was supposed to be a grand show of what the could do, but most plans needed to be thrown away for budget reasons. Most films do have budgets, but lion king II could didn't have a high budget. That is also why the movie doesn't look appealing. As shown in this scene, the animation looks better then pre finals and the finished product. Disney is honestly quite stupid for making this a straight to VHS sequel. The highest grossing film of all time, the Magnum Opus of Disney, no, Animation in general! The sequel of such a grand thing should be in higher priority!! But no. This film could have been the shit. But Disney can't spend money. So the disappointment that the final cut is, was made by Disney. Not the team that worked on this sequel.

What I didn’t like about this film is that Zira was so loyal to Scar why did she allow a different male to mate with her to give him an heir? I know originally Scar was to be the father but they changed it due to Kira and Kovu would’ve become first cousins. But they could have least given us maybe a little explanation on who Kovu’s dad was

Well, originally score was it going to be related to Mufasa not biologically anyway
my theory is that nuka and vitani were scar's children with zira, but because zira didn't/couldn't give him the cubs he wanted fast enough he turned his eye on other lionesses (perhaps nala, as per the stage play) instead. zira being so loyal meant she either didn't know or didn't care - just because zira was loyal to scar doesn't mean he was equally loyal in return. this also gives her a link to nuka in how they both desire the attention and approval of another who won't give it, and the cyclical nature of these things.
it's possible that zira found kovu abandoned while searching for food, noticed the coincidental resemblance, brought him back to the pridelands and asked scar what they should do with him. maybe scar sarcastically suggested that kovu be trained as his successor, not really caring what happened. but zira took his joke seriously, mentally spinning it into a grand proclamation.

But after seeing this as a deleted scene, I am starting to lose respect for Disney.
Oh that you so much for uploading this, I read the description and I do agree, there a a few uploads with this but this one is much clearer. And I was wondering when Nuka said _''Oh yeah, ohh-gdds yeah I-I can do that!''_ if there was more, but I assumed there wasn't because I didn't find one were it continued. That made me giddy cause I already saw all of the deleted scenes that resurfaced so far (I think? Well at least on here). Dang I wished they kept this, or could've been completed bonus scenes.
I actually like that they included but made all this exposition more subtle in the final film!

Wish they kept this! ^^ I will love to see an extended edition of The LIon King 2, with all the deleted scenes returned to the movie. :) Also, I will love to see a fan animate this too, just like how the Nuka death and the Zira deaths are animated by two animators on TH-cam! :)

This was so cool! And it confirms Scar ISN'T Kovu's father, like everyone keeps saying, even though that was never the case.
But I can kind of see why they didn't use this since they wanted to keep Kovu and Kiara the same age. Still, they could've changed to him being a somewhat newborn. Maybe a few days or a week older than Kiara, depending on how long it was between Simba returning to the Pridelands and Kiara being born.
It is said that Scar isn't the father twice in the final film, but I don't think people paid attention to it

The ending of this scene almost looks like a warped parallel of Mufasa showing Simba the kingdom from Pride Rock in the first film, especially with the music

If I may. I would believe of some things that were never spoken of. The night Simba's mother, Sarabi died from the fight with Zira, someone dug up Scar's skeleton. The teeth that bit through his bones came from the hyenas. I know Simba is attempting to follow into his father's footsteps, but it's not too late for Kovu to understand that it was the hyenas who killed Scar.
They should have added some of this in. It provides more explanation for Zira's motives. In the released version, she doesn't really specify her relationship to Scar, leaving her motives a little unclear. This shows she's a grief-stricken widow who wants revenge for the death of her beloved partner.

Zira took care of her children the best she could they had nothing no food the water was infested by crocodiles they had a hard life Simba wouldn't even let her cubs in the pride lands to eats or drink you can't change the fact that there born, or he looks like scar there just kids and you can't blame Zira you literally ran away and found a new home then left to kill scar in real life lions battle to become king scar did loose but he beat Mufasa fairly he didn't want to kill his own nephew so he got the hyenas to do it for him I know I'm going to get a lot of hate but just think about it

Tbf I can see why this was deleted. It's all exposition that we get elsewhere much more naturally. That and it makes Zira seem a little more sympathetic than they probably wanted.

So, in the timelines, that was explained how Zira and her family must be banished by Kion and Simba in the previous episodes of the first season of "The Lion Guard"!!!
And the 3rd and final season of "The Lion Guard" was actually take place after "The Lion King" and "The Lion King 1 ½" at the same time and the overlapping events of "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride", which is why the movie was originally titled "The Lion King: Simba's Pride"!!!! Right?
Lion Guard isn’t canon it’s just something for the kids, Kion and the Lion Guard do not exist in the actual TLK timeline. It would be cool if it did though
