- Around June of this year, someone on Archive.org published a ''beta'' version of The Lion King sequel, which contained a bunch of deleted scenes, as well as others that were re-worked rather than entirely scrapped. After watching it for myself, I've decided to sit down and crop these parts separatedly, as well as add subtitles for those whose main language isn't English or cannot listen to the video at the moment.
This one is one that everyone already knows very well. It's Nuka's last words, that were ultimately cut in the final version. A lot of people have brought up that maybe it painted sacrificing yourself to get your parents' attention as a good thing, and honestly, I can see that- It's kind of a waste though, as the final scene feels a little bit too short and it also highlights how desperatedly Nuka wanted his mom to validate him. One way or the other, I understand why it was cut.

Honestly I prefer the original scene more. It gave Nuka more lines and showed that despite how Zira treated him all his life he still loved her. The part where he cracked that little joke before he died was so sad!:(
What joke? He was being serious when he said that he wanted his mom's attention.

You gotta feel bad about Nuka here; he may have been a pain but all he wanted was his mother's love. His death shows that, despite being a violent sociopath, Zira really did care about her children while Scar only cared about himself. Even Vitani and Kovu looked crushed here because in less than twelve hours, they lost their brother and their mother for a hopeless cause created by petty vengeance.
Yep, that's because, when you carry a child in your belly, you would grow more sensitivity about your own child.
Honestly, my theory is that scared did care about new cat. But Nuka had 4 jeans, though he couldn't be king because. He wouldn't be as strong as other lions. And yes he is a cruel and selfish villain But still in the wild father. Lions are not actually bad fathers more or less.
It is theorized that Nuka was Scar’s actual biological son, but Scar rejected him because he saw Nuka as being too physically and mentally weak. Nuka resented Kovu because he believed that Kovu had taken his role as Scar’s successor and believed he was the rightful heir to Scar’s throne. Zira also ended up developing these same feelings towards Nuka and he became her most neglected child. All of Nuka’s life was spent trying to prove himself and gain his mother’s love and respect and prove that he could be just like Scar, but it was never enough. Scar may have rejected Nuka because he believed he was unworthy of his throne, but eventually it was not Kovu, but Nuka who ended up becoming just like Scar. Nuka may not have been as smart or cunning as Scar was, but he did inherit one major trait that made Scar who he was, his jealousy. Like Scar, Nuka became jealous of his brother for taking what he believed was his rightful spot on the throne and in the end his jealousy, hatred, and hunger to prove himself is what ended him just as it did Scar. Ironic isn’t it?
The reason why this scene is deleted with Nuka's last word is only "I tried" is because the deleted scene serve as a bad message to younger audiences that they wil do dangerous stuff so they can make their parents proud.
I feel so sorry for Nuka all he ever wanted was his mother's love care and attention and he died trying to get it

Nuka has been my favorite character ever since I was a kiddo, and this video hurts on a whole other level 😭
I will admit I get the reason why it was deleted, but personally I wish they could’ve actually animated it in full movie colour palettes and such, or maybe be in the movie. I’ve always seen Nuka as a character, who unfortunately got the portrayal as a “villain” but I see him as a bit of a tragic character, similar to Vitani in some ways. I wish there would’ve been more development for Nuka and at least give him a story too on why Scar neglected him and that. But I do like how this scene explores Zira’s hidden side; her love for her children, but in a more tragic way, I will say Zira is one of my favourite villains along with Scar, because of their potential and clever ideas.
I wish they used the original scene. It gave Nuka more depth to his character. I would have loved for him to have joined vitani and kovu into Simba's pride

I always realise why Nuka looks like a mess and doesn’t properly clean himself causing him to itch all the time, I feel like it’s probably because he’s always depressed from his mother not paying him any attention or showing him any sign of affection! I feel real sad for him, he wasn’t a villain he was just a lost boy who wanted his mothers love! I love the shot where Zira finally smiles at her own son it was heartwarming! Nuka was misunderstood
I thought this too and I thought since Scar passed over the firstborn, Zira basically stopped helping to groom him and just let him get itchy.
Why did such a short but important sentence not make it into the final version?
From what I've read, it was because there was concern that it would give kids the idea that they had to do dangerous and potentially deadly stuff to get their parents' attention. On one hand I kind of understand that and nobody wanting to feel responsible if a kid makes it into the headlines because they tried to emulate the film (especially if it was a kid with family issues like Nuka), but on the other it's not like Zira and Nuka's relationship is ever portrayed as normal. This is just another proof of how messed up both of them are and there isn't anything even remotely positive about it. I guess it's better to play it safe rather than dealing with any controversy, however.

I understand that.
But I think that this little scene would have been important to show the relationship between Nuka and Zira: Nuka only wanted her mother's love. The lioness only felt something for her son after she had lost him.
Yes, for me Nuka and Vitani Scar and Zira biological cubs.

@@balasabence4553 I agree that the scene would be really important and should have been kept. I think the same about Zira's original death; it would have been perfectly tragic to see her ultimately fall so deep in her hatred she would rather die than accept help or mercy from her enemies.
When I said they were messed up, I didn't mean it in a mocking way! It's just that both Zira and Nuka are clearly not very stable; he's so starved for his mother's approval that he doesn't think twice about doing something incredibly dangerous just to get the attention he wants, and Zira is completely obsessed with revenge, to the point where she neglects her family to focus on it; and what is really tragic is that, knowing Scar, he probably never even loved her. She destroyed her sanity and family for someone who probably didn't even remember who she was.

Yes, if we take it as Scar is portrayed in the first cartoon, this behavior is also conceivable, but fans have written a lot of "what if" stories (one of the best, if not the best, I read two days ago) where Scar loves Zira, and all three cubs.
For me, Scar and Zira will always be Nuka and Vitani's parents, Kovu has been adopted.

You know, even though Zira is a blood thirsty villain. Honestly, this scene just makes you wanna feel bad for her. Because yes, while she wants to carry on the scars. Legacy and kill simba, having your own son die in front of you. Now you have to Be a Solis person. not to feel sympathy for her there.

@@jacobjankowski9935 there were a few scenes where it's mentioned that scar isn't kovu father like where nuka says kovu kovu kovu he just took him in and... and there's a scene where kovu confirms he wasn't his son but still part of him

If you listen closely to the part where Zira hold Nuka’s head before he dies he says “Didn’t I?” They must’ve kept that in by accident.

Truth is, Zira destroyed her children with her stubborness as did Simba but Simba finally chose the right course. Mufasa also destroyed Simba and who he was meant to be by how he chose to deal with the hyenas which then made Simba become the prodigal son. Mufasa and his parents treatment of Scar also comes to mind as well.
The original would’ve been far more wholesome because Nuka says he finally got her attention this could’ve been zira moment when she realized how she treated him all his life ignoring him being so hard on him only yelling and insulting him never one being affectionate or caring towards him and the one moment she actually acted motherly towards him looking so gentle is the moment that he died so she’ll never be able to make up with him it took him dying for her to see him if he had just slipped his grip on simba not been crushed she would’ve ignored him still

If the film was 12+ they would keep the original scene, and the other deleted scenes. I’m surprised it’s a U.

Λοιπόν για μένα η 2η σκηνή είναι εντελώς άχρηστη, και ο Νούκα δεν λέει τίποτα άλλο παρά (μόνο) το γνωστό "συγνώμη μητέρα, προσπάθησα"-ούτε του δίνουν μια δυο ατάκες παραπάνω-για πέταμα! μακάρι να είχαν κρατήσει την αυθεντική, έστω και στην Ελληνική μετάφραση (Νούκα και Ζίρα οι πιο αγαπημένοι μου χαρακτήρες)

I know this is supposed to be a sad and emotional scene, however, this scene always filled me with unbridled joy..... because this is the only film I know of where Andy Dick DIES! 😆 ☠ 😆 ☠
