Big companies don't care if their games are received well; they want their games to make money. They're closely connected, but they're not exactly the same thing, and they are not gonna let slip any chance to do the important part, even if it happens to be missing the other part.
@@Mr_Wallet Precisely. DMC 4 was considered a disappointment by Capcom, because they project sales to rival that of CoD, and God of War, despite both series eclipsing them at any given time. The U.S at the time simply bought more games than Japan, or any other country, and Japan consumers were specifically buying less. Therefore, it seemed like a good idea to jump towards a more Western-styled game, to establish the brand as Triple-A, when it's previously always been niche. For the record, I think that DmC is a blight on the DMC series, but I don't think it's straight-up terrible like DMC 2 is.
I just like how the combat is so deep. I’ve played Dante must die and the skill jump makes you feel so proud of your ability to understand the game and the exploration in the combat
The previsualization is the best bonus ever. I love it, I do love behind the scenes stuff. Halo 3 had stuff like that in the expensive editions. I think they make you appreciate the game more.
OK so I love this game. I'm a fan of this franchise and I was honestly expecting him to give it a 3. But you should know what you're getting if you buy. It's somewhat light on story and there's a bit of a lack of area originality at a certain point. But this game shines in the combat. The fluidity and just general fun to play. It's hack and slash at its best. It very much what you see is what you get. So if that not your thing then it's not for you.

Lmao so true. Starring all the main guys you know and love: Emo Guy, serious guy that looked like Dante last game, detective guy. Featuring these new characters like Trish and Lady and Dante and some dude that might be his twin. Idk where they came from but it ain't a devil may cry game with it's true main character; Zero.
"the villain isnt super menacing" Urizen: curbstomps every single main character that can fight (besides V, who he never canonically fights) at least once, slaughters untold numbers of people by way of an evil vampire tree, lays siege to the entire world with an army of incredibly powerful demons and ends up returning to his original form at the height of his power
Idk. Being the strongest doesn't make him super menacing. Urizen is kinda flat, his goals are vague, and the reprocussions of him achieving them are never stated or clarified
@@Cloneman-ic9rx How are his goals vague? He's after as much power as he can obtain; this single-minded focus is what causes him to not destroy Nero, Dante or V when he has the chance because he'd rather slap them aside to focus on what he's trying to do, which acts as a significant flaw. And Urizen himself is pretty flat but that's... kinda the point. He's SPOILER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a physical manifestation of Vergil's lust for power, without any of the humanity Vergil felt was holding him back. He's not complex but it makes sense in universe because he's the worst parts of Vergil given mind and body, and what comes from his actions adds more depth to Vergil. Besides, the repercussions are pretty obvious; Urizen wants power, and he will commit mass genocide to get it. Humanity will suffer under his strength, assuming he allows them to live.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken Yes, but who cares about the suffering of humanity? No, seriously. Within the context of dmc, human life is worth very, very little, to that of the narrative and to the characters themselves (unless that human life is someone they are personally close to). The countless deaths Vergil caused in this game alone is not mentioned once or brought up, even after his "redemption", and he seemingly feels no remorse. V, which is Vergil's human half, never even comments on this as he explores the ruins of the world left in his wake. And I'm aware of WHY Urizen is simple, but that simplicity is exactly what detracts from whatever intimidating qualities he may posses. It's impossible NOT to compare him to other "big bads", and when that is done, his simple goal of "me want more power" takes a lot out of him. Additionally, his goal for power is centered around the Qliphoth. That's his driving point. And he obtains it- and his goal shifts to beating Dante. The damage needing to forge the Qliphoth is already done, and Urizen never speaks about ruling over humanity. He simply desired more power, and he got it, and now he wants to get rid of Dante. There's not really any stakes for me to care about there- if you look at it from the perspective of protecting the innocent, the good guys already lost.
@@Cloneman-ic9rx You. do realize that we don't get an opportunity to see what happens to Vergil following all that right?? Because it's at the end of the game and it's being left open for what comes next. And how does human life not matter to the characters, Dante literally runs a business putting his life on the line for other people's sake. People he doesn't know. And in DMC4, Nero, after fighting Dante, tells him to get everyone to safety while he fights the demons. And everything Vergil supposedly should pay for he... didn't really do. Urizen is not Vergil; he's one half of him yes, but he also lacks what makes Vergil human and therefore is just power lust run wild; a manifestation of Vergil's desires without the morality to not go as far as Urizen did. Characters don't need to be complex to be engaging. Urizen is a big bad demon that's extremely strong and born from Vergil's mistaken assumption regarding what power is. That's all he is. He acts as proof to Vergil that he was wrong, and that's all he needs to be.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken @Miss Rose We DO see what happens. Not extensively, but we do have an epilogue. Vergil and Dante go on vacation in hell, rekindle their relationship, and cultivate a healthy rivalry. It is a happy ending, however, Dante never confronts Vergil about the attrocities he's committed- nor is he shown as intending to, nor does he speak on doing so prior. Same with Nero. They moreso care just about Vergil, as opposed to the deeds he's committed. Dante runs a business putting his life on the line for MONEY. He rarely stresses over casualties- it is about stopping the demonic entity, and making money off of it. Not to say Dante is callous or anything, but it is something he doesn't concern himself with. As far as Vergil not being responsible for the actions of Urizen... He made the conscious decision to create Urizen. He is responsible for the actions brought forth from it, and the fact that he does not even feel remorse after his time as V really speaks to how little human life matters in dmc5. One Dante voiceline in dmc4 doesn't validate an entire series of disregard for human life. It could also be interpreted at Dante trying to spare Nero the emotional damage of his hometown becoming filled with corpses.
@@razvandavid1510 Yeah the problem with that is the Shakespeare line was just a joke from Griffon but he actually reads Auguries of Innocence by William Blake when you press Right Trigger in game to read from his book.

Ha. You know I like a how some of the best video game franchises came from resident evil. Dmc was originally supposed to be resident evil 4. The red dead series was originally made by capcom to be a resident evil spinoff until capcom sold the rights of the game and the studio to Rockstar. Onimusha and Dino Crisis too were meant to be spin offs and you can see the design philosophy that they used from with the fixed cameras and the use of herbs from resident evil. Dead Space basically was made to be a Resident evil rival by Visceral. So many franchises were born out of resident evil.

For the record, I think that DmC is a blight on the DMC series, but I don't think it's straight-up terrible like DMC 2 is.
dmc series has always been exactly what i thought i was buying and nothing more

OK so I love this game. I'm a fan of this franchise and I was honestly expecting him to give it a 3. But you should know what you're getting if you buy. It's somewhat light on story and there's a bit of a lack of area originality at a certain point. But this game shines in the combat. The fluidity and just general fun to play. It's hack and slash at its best. It very much what you see is what you get. So if that not your thing then it's not for you.

The game is so good. Some random guy got inspired and made a epic poem about it 1300 years ago.
a 100 from Dunkey? I guess it's okay.
"the villain isnt super menacing"
Urizen: curbstomps every single main character that can fight (besides V, who he never canonically fights) at least once, slaughters untold numbers of people by way of an evil vampire tree, lays siege to the entire world with an army of incredibly powerful demons and ends up returning to his original form at the height of his power
He's

a physical manifestation of Vergil's lust for power, without any of the humanity Vergil felt was holding him back.

Man, Resident Evil 4 make a long way
