- What an awesome fishing boat this is! Graeme heads down to Somerset to step aboard the very latest fishing machine, a high-powered Catamaran that cruises to the best fishing marks at 30 knots....but what exactly is this vessel ??..Graeme takes the T.A. Cameras aboard "Lorna Doone" for an exclusive interview with Tommo, to learn what makes this such a great fishing boat .And don't worry there is an upcoming film when they explore the area's great fishing grounds.

That boat can only be described as 'totally awesome'. Saw an article in a magazine on Tomo and his Lorna Doon. Love it.

He is very good at finding fish and helping people out..Ideal for beginners .
Wow, how things have changed. I remember back in the 60s we used to go out on a boat from Newhaven called Silver Mist. The owner then bought a catamaran called Lisa James and the other boat anglers thought the owner was mad. He proved them wrong as it was so fast and stable. We didn't have such luxuries as rod holders, we held our own, fishing with 2lbs of weight in 16 fathoms, it was hard work to reel in.
Fathoms ???...Sounds like you are as old school as me..I still use fathoms when I trail my boat down to Cornwall where its deeper.
In the '80s I used to go with 6 or 7 other guys on a monthly charter trip from Newhaven. There was no comfy cabin on the boat to warm up in, but the skipper kept us safe and could always find fish: cod, plaice, conger, ling, doggies, whatever. Kinda scruffy old school stuff. :-)
I loved the old 'greasy spoon' cafe round the back of the tackle shop. Best cholesterol-boosting breakfast ever! Oh, and those tides! I can remember dropping 4lbs of lead on a 20lb line over the side and it would never touch the bottom... Happy days!

Nice boat, but I wonder how often you can cruise at 27-30kts fully loaded in the Bristol Channel.
I clicked thinking you had splashed for a new boat. Wondering if you were feeling OK? Then I realised this is the TA fishing channel and while the high sea drifter still floats she's plenty good enough!

With a 300 Merc on the back maybe ?? I think the old girl would sink stern first from just the weight. But I did like all those rod holders.
Noticed there was no break trip on that anchor do they not need to worry about it getting fouled up

100+litres an hour? wow....watchet is the closest harbour/ slipway to me but hopefully my little drifter will be down at minehead later this year so we might be able to see the lorna doone through our spyglass.... all aboard the skylark.... ohhh arrrr

This means that this boat running at 30knots is using around £35 petrol per hour. This equates to just over £1 per nautical mile. 20 n mile trip for 20 quid.......pretty good in my book

The mame of the boat Lorna Doone where is that name from,its a beauty have some good fishing on it .Music is sweet on the videos enjoyed last nights so much with you and Micks wife was it yous where so cool.
Lorna Doone is the name of a romantic novel from the mid-1800s, set on Exmoor and based on historical figures of (I think) the 17th Century. It was one of the books we had to 'do' in school back in the 60s. Actually, it's quite a good read.

I did gulp when I heard that. 1000 litres of unleaded at around £1.23 per litre. Ouch!
