The mosquito bite you showed last time was really big compared to these. You probably arent severely allergic to fire ants, but instead just got bitten and stung so many times by them that a mild/moderate allergy got severe, and maybe your body just went crazy on the mosquito bites too because you were already having a severe reaction. I have a bad allergic reaction to mosquitos and I get about the same thing when I get bit a couple times. Also the chemicals in off can give you cancer so I would recommend plant based mosquito deterrents.
We've always used tomato stems against mosquitos, works fine when put on a windowsill or having tomato plants in front of a window. I haven't done that this year and it was the first time I've gotten any mosquito bites in like 6 or 7 years. That cut at the tip of the screws means it's what they call a self-tapping screw. So it's designed to cut the threads as it goes. A "Tap and Die set" ia a set of tools where the taps make the treads in a smooth hole and the die make the threads on a rod so it can become a thing that screws into the hole. Epipens have a short shelflife compared to most drugs, be sure to check the expiration date and mark it down on the package + pens in large numbers. You don't want your lifeline to not work when you really need it to.
It's been a while since I visited your channel but I see while I was away you are still enjoying yourself despite your multiple infestations of ants and boll weevils. I have an unusual reaction to mosquito bites as well, except they are as itchy as poison ivy for me as well as often swelling to the size of a nickle or quarters sometimes. Its allergies ive always been told. Like im allergic. It is treatable like any other bite from them like just use hydroquinone on it, and I've also found using an ice pack helps a lot too. Or just an ice cube. If you get bit on the face, I have to immediately put hydrocortisone on it. Be careful to not scratch it either. With my reaction I know I get hot flashes but my face will swell. You should probably fo the same for any bites on your face. Its not the worst kind of reaction, but really bad reactions for mosquitos.😅
I'm confirmed to be allergic to wasps, and also have an extreme reaction to mosquito and fire ants. Only difference is that for me NOTHING can stop the itching. I've tried every form of itch cream you can buy over the counter. What is worse is that my blood type or body odor attracts an abnormal amount of mosquitoes. I can sit out in the middle of the day for about 30 minutes near no water and end up with 30 bites on my ankles through compression socks. I do now have a much stronger itch cream that is by prescription only but have yet to try it on mosquito bites as I prefer to not be bitten. I get the same reaction to mosquito bites. Once I had a mosquito bite on my hand and my whole hand swelled up. They often swell up my ankle too. The more severe reactions you have the more sensitive you can become to more. My adhesive allergy has progressively gotten worse over the years. You can also develop allergies as an adult so maybe the mosquitoes is new. But given your reaction to the Hognose venom, ants, and now mosquitoes, I'd definitely assume you're allergic to basically any venom. Protect yourself from bees and wasps, etc from now on!
If you have a Wal Mart close, call them and ask about buying their empty icing buckets. They're food grade with a thick rubber seal that would be perfect for keeping your chicken feed in.
Gardening is rarely as relaxing as so many would have people believe. I recently lost the battle against invasive plants and stinging nettle. The ivy is consuming the yard and I'm halfway tempted to cover everything in mounds of cardboard and dirt and start over again a year or so from now.
I guess so. seems similar with farming, I always thought it was a relaxed old man riding around on a tractor. But the amount of stress and calculations it takes looks insane from actual farm vids on youtube
Same! The ivy is easy enough to pull out and I de-weeded my lawn last year (took me ages - I dug them all out) replaced it with the grass. This year all of the weeds were back. It's soul destroying. Thorns are actually the devil
@@Hearts_4hellokitty don't even get me started on garlic mustard. Tough to pull out of the ground and mowing it only spreads the seeds and it still grows back T.T
I've had a reaction like that and a little worse to mosquito bites. From my (limited, armchair) research, it seems like it's harmless. Just annoying. I'm glad you were able to get an epi pen. Also, we keep our chicken feed in metal trash cans. Keeps all the critters out and not at all expensive.
They sell bug spray that’s made with Picaridin, it’s synthetic deet pretty much. Deet is what’s in the really smelly ones, while the ones with Picaridin don’t smell too bad ^~^
yeah sometimes a big reaction will continue giving you reactions to smaller things or things you arent actually allergic to. It's the autoimmune system on high alert and deciding to attack anything mildly suspicious lol.
Would not be surprised if he gets an actual cold or experiences flu symptoms as the result of this tbh. His body might get sick from the emotional stress alone, nevermind physical stress.
@@GoHerping If your AC is running well and no foul smell is coming from your vents, tis all good. If the drain clogs and collects stagnant water, trust me, you'll know it.
@@kudzu_ yeah it's brokey. water from various sources leak under the house and the smell is getting noticeable... It's on the short-list of issues to work on lol
I'm pretty sure that diatomaceous earth only works when it's dry. So I believe laying it down and then dumping moist dirt on it kind of defeats its purpose LOL I at least make sure I keep it dry when using it cuz it makes sense to me that when it's wet it just clumps other things and doesn't do its shredding job
Nah the mosquito bites are normal for someone with your complexion. The other symptoms definitely sound like mind over matter stuff from fixating on it a lot. Plus working outdoors it could be pollen, dirt particles etc making your eyes itchy. As some others have mentioned, be really careful with the chooks and pesticides
My son is allergic to mosquitos and when he gets bit it swells to the size of a softball. Your bites are bigger than normal and your symptoms do suggest an allergy. Best thing to do is to go to an allergist where you can be tested for all the things.
After moving into a spare room, I noticed there were some black ants at the corner of my ceiling. I sealed the holes and sprayed raid. A few nights later I woke up covered in ants, all over my bed, biting my mouth and eyes. I was shocked... they bit like red ants! Absolutely disgusting. This video is extremely cathartic and relatable because I too declared war.
I wasn’t necessarily saying the mosquito bite is what you are allergic to, but it does seem like you had a mild reaction. Could be because your body is still sensitive to everything, again I work out doors and mosquito bites make old ant bites itch which makes old tick bites itch, I was attempting to show that allergies are weird and it could be a mix of insects bites and not just one specific that causes the response. I find personally that if I get pricked by bramble bushes/stick a briars, all my insect bite itches more even ones I didn’t know I had. Now I just keep the Benadryl topical gel handy and wear long sleeves when I’m working (moisture wicking clothes because of all the heat) best of luck! Allergies suck!

Dripping is probably the drain for the condensation tray under your a/c.
You just called yourself, "Mr. Little Herp Man" hahaha
This is the first goherping vid I've clicked on in a while, and lemme tell you, it's the most goherping title I've seen to a video in a while too
Anyone else prefer these style videos over the strictly reptile ones?
Yes
If you do end up using the epi pen, make sure you go to the doctor immediately, even if you feel better. Epi pens are a temporary treatment.
This is like watching all the bad guys die in lord of the rings only to find out they have twice as many in the next movie.
If you have a Wal Mart close, call them and ask about buying their empty icing buckets. They're food grade with a thick rubber seal that would be perfect for keeping your chicken feed in.
Great idea
I've always reacted to mosquito bites the same way, nothing to worry about too much it just itches like mad on-and-off.
I get mosquito bites like that too, they fade after a few hours if I don't scratch it.
I believe those were self tapping screws you showed us.
Tough to pull out of the ground and mowing it only spreads the seeds and it still grows back T.T
revenge shall be fought.... there is only one true winner here..
“Now, Alex has become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”
The white PVC pipe is the drain for AC/cooling system.
i was literally waiting on this upload 😂😂😂 i have never followed anyone this closely
Yoooo that rize car wrap looks stunning
I get quarter sized welts with mosquito bites. lol Yours are a little small. I think your body is also on guard since it had a reaction to the ants.
yeah sometimes a big reaction will continue giving you reactions to smaller things or things you arent actually allergic to. It's the autoimmune system on high alert and deciding to attack anything mildly suspicious lol.
Would not be surprised if he gets an actual cold or experiences flu symptoms as the result of this tbh. His body might get sick from the emotional stress alone, nevermind physical stress.
Wouldn't it be funny if all the ants are actually from the random craigslist dirt you bought?
I did fear the ants would move to the dirt before I could even shovel it. There's tons of spiders in it though, which may actually be a benefit
The drippy pipe is your AC condensation drain. Supposed to be drippy.
huh. It's never been drippy before now.
@@GoHerping If your AC is running well and no foul smell is coming from your vents, tis all good. If the drain clogs and collects stagnant water, trust me, you'll know it.
And it won't always drip when you run the air. Depends on usage and weather
@@kudzu_ yeah it's brokey. water from various sources leak under the house and the smell is getting noticeable... It's on the short-list of issues to work on lol
I'm pretty sure that diatomaceous earth only works when it's dry. So I believe laying it down and then dumping moist dirt on it kind of defeats its purpose LOL
I at least make sure I keep it dry when using it cuz it makes sense to me that when it's wet it just clumps other things and doesn't do its shredding job
when is it safe to be in the poisoned areas.. will it harm the chickens?
I have the same reactions to mosquito bites. If I get a few bites close together, I will feel an ache in the closest joint or bone.
Gardener Alex 2024 is much needed content
try picaridin insect repellent lotion! works pretty well and doesn’t smell like chemicals, just slightly like elmer’s glue XD
When did he become gofarming?
Nah the mosquito bites are normal for someone with your complexion. The other symptoms definitely sound like mind over matter stuff from fixating on it a lot. Plus working outdoors it could be pollen, dirt particles etc making your eyes itchy. As some others have mentioned, be really careful with the chooks and pesticides
Why are you putting hay/straw on before you plant?
My son is allergic to mosquitos and when he gets bit it swells to the size of a softball. Your bites are bigger than normal and your symptoms do suggest an allergy. Best thing to do is to go to an allergist where you can be tested for all the things.
After moving into a spare room, I noticed there were some black ants at the corner of my ceiling. I sealed the holes and sprayed raid.
A few nights later I woke up covered in ants, all over my bed, biting my mouth and eyes. I was shocked... they bit like red ants! Absolutely disgusting.
This video is extremely cathartic and relatable because I too declared war.
my god. laying in bed rn and this is nightmare fuel
Thank goodness you have an epipen. Who prescribed it for you in the end? Xx
I got the same doctor to, but the way she reluctantly did so made it obvious doesn't trust me with it
Hope this miniseries pops off. super good
I wasn’t necessarily saying the mosquito bite is what you are allergic to, but it does seem like you had a mild reaction.
You should get 50 gallon trash bins from tractor supply. It keeps bugs and unwanted pests like rats and racoons out of your expensive food..
The puss looking bites were fire ants. Try permetherine bug repellent. It doesn't smell once it dries.
