Love this song, but the first and flawless version I heard was the one at the Wacken 2013 show...she nailed every note on that one! Would almost like Beth to watch that one on her own and note her comparisons here in the replies, hint hint! 😉
I bounce between this and the Wacken 2013 version. Each have their own flavor, and they are both great. I would say that the Wacken 2013 may be my preference, but it just may be because it was the first one I heard.... Both are incredible!!
People crying aren't sad... they are moved by the music. I went to Nightwish concerts 3 times... and I had tears in my eyes the WHOLE show. The end of the shows were... painful.
Still one of the most human moments I've experienced was the end of the greatest show on earth during the decades tour, with a full theater screaming along to "we were here". I actually wept at the end
I actually went to my first Nightwish show on a whim. I had heard a few albums and thought it was pretty cool, but what happened at that show really changed my appreciation for the musicianship and stagecraft of that band. I was genuinely moved.
Symphonic metal is in my opinion the best music. It is tenderness and brutality. It is sorrow and anger. It is euphoric catharsis of deep anguish. I always envision things like The battle of Dorylaeum when the soldiers held the line for hours under archer fire to protect the non-combatants. Or during the great depression a father eating moldy bread at work for lunch so he can bring home milk or eggs. It is the music of poetry.
Floor Janssen is the most versatile singer I’ve ever heard. If you want to hear something impressive, check out Romanticide live at Wacken 2013. She does a multi octave chromatic slide from the bottom of her range to the top and back down smooth as butter. that banshee wail is honestly one of the most impressive vocal feats I’ve ever heard.
Legit, best description. I totally agree. That slide is one of the most impressive things I've seen, outside of Dimash doing like a high G in full mix...as a guy
"Ghost Love Score" is an incredible composition and it's sung here with incredible talent, but this video really puts into perspective how amazing it is. When a trained vocal coach well-versed in musical talent and capability looks like she's having an out-of-body experience, you know she's hearing something really good. I love your reactions and I love your explanations.
And I think Floor hit gold by grabbing the chance to sing for Nightwish. She said in an interview that she is were she wants to be and they will have to fire her to get rid of her. Of course, they fired Tarja and Anette.
I am scratching my head with all these comments on every single Nightwish clip. Floor is an excellent versatile singer, a perfect match for CURRENT Nightwish. Tarja is an excellent operatic, theatrical singer, not versatile but extremely good, better than Floor at her operatic vocal specialization. Her studio version of "Ghost Love Score" is the best version of the song hands down. Because it was written for her and her voice. Old Nightwish with Tarja are my favourite too. Heavier, darker, with Tarjas voice and a lot of incredible songs. Floor is a very capable singer, but Tarja's voice still sounds better with the old material. A match made in heaven
Fun fact, Floor Jansen is also a Vocal Coach, and the third singer in Nigtwish :) Tarja Turunen, was the bands first singer, she was the most operatic singer. Listen to Phantom of the opera - The "End of and era" concert :)
I do like very high-quality opera voice ,but Tarja is not opera singer I do like very high-quality opera vibrato , but Tarja do not have it !!! Compare Tarja with other opera singers there is 500 better singer than Tarja Turunen If one better singer will sing it you will see how limited skills Tarja have
Tarja was the first and only orginal singer, floor is also after forever ex singer but nothing can replace tarja her vocals were one of a kind so it's sad that the rest of the band fired her and amazing they are on their 3rd singer now after all them first yrs they made, unfortunetly the music industry
Ross Walker Tarja has a great voice for sure, but she could only do the opera stuff. Floor fits into Nightwish so much better because she can do the Opera, Rock, Pop, Growl, hit stupid high notes... she is the whole package. Tarja was not that. Not even close.
One of the things I like most about Floor is that she presents herself as so down to earth in interviews. She seems like a genuinely nice and sincere person.
She's always lovely and happy to be where she is. She's been in the metal trenches for a long time, so I'm sure she appreciates being in a big band like Nightwish and actually making money.
Bit of a Dutch thing as well. We have saying "doe maar normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg" which basically translates to "just act normal, that's crazy enough". It has negative annotations, but it quite often shows in the Dutch people and behaviour. Down to earth, no nonsense :)
Don't tick her off, though. She once picked a fight with a male audience member from the stage. I would not want that six foot dutch amazon angry at me. (She was right to be angry, by the way) Floor Jansen - "But I’m not somebody’s marionette. Just because I sing in a band, people don’t get to dictate whatever the f*ck they want from me.” Love it!
Welcome to Nightwish, they are incredible. I’ve heard them in concert here in the US, in 2015 and again last year in 2018. Among the best concerts I’ve ever heard in my life and I am a senior citizen and have heard so many good ones! Floor Is known for her versatility and singing as you noticed.
So, I've seen a ton of these "Vocal Coach reacts to Ghost Love Score" and you're definitely the best one I've seen, calling out every switch and different style the Floor puts out in this song! That was great reaction/review/commentary video!
I agree. And I've been a fan of Nightwish since the Tarja days. Floor can do both operatic and more metal portions with grace and transition between them smoothly, and with feeling. When you see her doing this in Buenos Aires 2012, when Floor had just begun with them, notice the enraptured expression on Tuomas' face. Already Floor was expressing his composition better than anyone ever before, making his musical vision live on a new level.
@@jamesredman1263 Indeed. It's definitely a case of "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" if I ever saw one. They just bring out the best of each other and they all push themselves to excel.
ah, too bad it wasn't the wacken theatre performance, that one was so much more powerful to me, and with more voice control for sure. But still Floor just absolutely rocks live stuff, its great!
True, the Wacken Open Air performance was more polished, but Floor had only been with the band for less than three months when this was recorded. The "Floor ending" came as a surprise just about everyone (except Empuu, the lead guitarist, who was grinning from ear to ear.) See him at 13:55
Totally, Wacken 2013 was the best Nightwish performance I've ever seen. The camerawork and overall sound is just MUCH better at Wacken. (In my opinion)
I'm of two minds about these two performances - I can't say which one I prefer. Both have their own strengths; in this one, I LOVE how the crowd sang along with the guitar solo. It just added so much to the atmosphere. Best crowd ever, in this show. In the Waken version, the bit with the crowd chanting works better, because in that version, Floor starts the chanting with her own "Hey, Hey!" chants, and not just clapping - that works better, I think. The stage and crowd in the Waken performance is bigger, and the production value is even better than in this video. But I think Floor, vocally, is equally good in both.
I would say that this Buenos Aires performance is more emotional, is more about the music rather than the show, that's why, for me, it is the best Ghost Love Score performance of the band, they are enjoying themselves, they are feeling the music to the core of their bones, I agree that Floor is a little bit unpolished, but man she sung her heart out.
@@sket179 Yes. She started performing on the 1st of October, and this concert was in mid December. So two and a half months. Who would have guessed, just from hearing this performance..
Whoa that was a good reaction. Brace yourself, you are about to be inundated by requests for some more Nightwish performances. This song showed you some of what she can do, but oh boy can she do more! So I will get that request ball rolling with some suggestions; Romanticide Live at Wacken 2013 (she goes even higher!) The Poet and the Pendulum Live at Wembley for an absolute masterpiece performance by the entire band. It is also worth looking at the original singer for the band (Tarja taurunen) and their performance of Phantom of the Opera (End of an Era)
@@christosk89 I would actually say yes, but no. Seeing Tarja and Marco singing is one thing... But Floor and Marco actually did a live rendition of Ave Maria, which shows off Marco's singing as much as Floor. We know what Floor can do, but Marco's singing is just as surprising. Here's the link to them singing Ave Maria. th-cam.com/video/GNGCEWH2Xxk/w-d-xo.html
Just recently got into these reaction type videos, finding them a lot of fun. Got to say though the quality varies somewhat, and Beth here is the best one I've seen so far. Keep it up young lady!!
Their bassist, Marco, is also a really good vocalist too, he did a great Ave Maria duet with Floor. Floor is insanely talented, she has a huge range and can go from death metal growls to pop/rock to classical in a heartbeat.
The really mind blowing thing to me is that she had only been performing this song for about 2 months at this point. She was an emergency replacement Singer, in the middle of a tour with 48 hours to learn the songs, and this was 2 months later. She did it nearly this well almost immediately from what I can tell. Just crazy talented.
Fun fact, at the time of this video, Floor had only been part of the band for about 2-3 months (I don't know the exact date it was recorded, but it's from 2012 and she started october 2012). She replaced the original vocalist mid-tour on very short notice (it's said to have been about 2 days) and this video was most likely published to show the fans that they could actually pull it off, and to show Nightwish had only grown stronger by the switch. The wacken 2013 version of the same song appears even more polished as she's had more time to grow into her role.
Not to be disagreeable, but this video was shot on two nights, December 14 and 15 of 2012. If you watch, you can tell some of the band's positions change too rapidly from shot to shot. This is actually two takes. At one point in this song on one of the nights, Floor had to go offstage because she had a problem with her microphone body pack.
@@johnsoma6485 Correct, I had also written the part about it being shot during 2 shows, but figured it would make the message a bit long, and it's kinda irrelevant. From my understanding it was shot by the documentary crew they had on hand due to the tour documentary they were working on, and because they didn't have enough camera angles they used 2 days to shoot the video for it. I dunno why that would be disagreeable to mention though. :)
I would assume the music track was on take (or atlrast split between when they left thr stage and came back). The multi day shooting was more for video edits than audio,
A Frog vocal coaches commenting and analyzing on a performance of another vocal coach and a well known singer (in some countries), in a manner of not knowing she is a vocal coach and famous singer, that why it’s ironic to me, and it’s just my opinion. =)
@TayExclusive I totally agree with you, Floor looks stunning every time she sings "my fall", the background visuals along with the Camera angles zoom-in on her & you get a glimpse of her pure Beauty, vocally & personally! I feel like I'm under a kind of enchanted spell when she sings, absolutely Mesmerising
I actually am starting to like this version as much as Wacken. Floor is more ethereal in the very beginning. Kate Bush like with the little crescendos. A lullaby. Which amplifies the ending even more. So even if it's not as great as the Wacken finish, the contrast is greater. And the crowd sings along here.
One thing I love so much about Floor is that she's been doing this for a long time, over 20 years, and has been just as good all along. She just has not received the recognition she deserved until now. Stepping into this role with Nightwish and taking in that spotlight must feel amazing for her. Plus she's so confident in her capabilities, it's fun to watch and hear her.
Thank you for your great reaction Beth! As more people here have pointed out, there is another official live version of this song, from the Wacken 2013 concert. I can imagine that it would not be a priority to do another reaction video of the same song. But if you would find the time, I strongly recommend you do - and compare that version to the one you just saw. You may wonder why, since there are so many songs that have multiple live versions online. Well, in the video you have watched, Floor Jansen was only in the band for two months, after she had to step in for their previous singer unplanned. The Wacken concert is about eight months after this version and for most fans is the ultimate rendition of this song. Floor has perfected her vocal performance whilst on tour, especially on this song that is her personal favorite. This for me is perhaps her biggest talent, the ability to continue to improve on an already applauded performance. Although I would loooove to name all the points on which her Wacken vocal performance is better, it will not do that here (yet ;) since that may take away the incentive for you to do a comparison. I can only say that as a vocal coach, you will see a big difference :)
Indeed... @Beth Roars, damn you picked the wrong, wrong live to comment upon :( Plz do it again for the Wacken 2013 version. The singer Floor, replaced the previous singer mid-tour and had literaly 48 hours to travel (from Europe to America) and learn the songs (just by listening to the audio of the previous singer) before the next live performance. You HAVE to listen/comment to the other version...
Always lovely to see great reactions to performers from someone who knows what they are talking about - you had me smiling and enthused along with you :).
Floor is the greatest female vocalist I have ever had the pleasure of hearing live. I experienced actual tears of joy. The entire show, every band member, just amazing.
As impressive as this is it's from one of her first performances with the band and she's still finding her comfortable places in songs written for other women with different styles, in the Wacken performance she's all in and takes it over the top
@@teambellavsteamalice Oh yeah... You could visibly see her fall under Floor's spell within moments of the vocals beginning. And then the 'Floorgasm' at the end.... The look on Beth's face... :-)
The strings are actually recorded by the London Philharmonia Orchestra. The same orchestra that recorded the LOTR soundtracks, so I’m not surprised you made that connection 😂. Also: if you want her more rock sounding stuff: Ghost River (she growls) and Romanticide are great ones. Both are live at Wacken 2013. Another is The Poet and the Pendulum Live at Wembley 2015. This one is dear to Tuomas’ heart because he basically committed suicide in song form due to what had happened with the departure of the first singer, Tarja. The one who you most likely thought of. The current singer is Floor Jansen, and in this video she had only been with the band for two weeks. Ghost Love Score is one of her favourites to sing.
mangalover0149 Poet & the Pendulum has nothing to do with Tarja. Tuomas only claimed it did after legal documents came out in the press showing that the open letter “firing” her actually did no such thing (as her departure had been negotiated and contractually defined over a year before, with only a press conference remaining until it took effect) and was full of lies about her pay, riders and health, all designed to kill the post-Nightwish deals she had made that were predicated on an amicable split from the band. And of course the rampant misogyny towards her and racism towards her husband in the letter didn’t help with the fan backlash either, so he tried a bit of revisionist history by pretending he wrote this tender song about a woman whose career he just went to the mat trying to kill. Bye Bye Beautiful is the song actually about Tarja, and is much more appropriately hateful and contemptuous.
@@FairsleyDifference Butthurt Tarja fan detected. Even after 13 years... :D I'm Finnish myself, it was a fairly big news item in my country. You paint a very one-sided image there. It was vastly more complicated than that. Throwing around words like misogyny and racism ... quite dishonest. Only thing true about your text was that Tuomas was very sad and angry about Tarja before and after the departure. He did behave like an idiot occasionally but so did Tarja. Which is to be expected in those emotionally heated situations.
@@FairsleyDifference Racism against her husband? He's an Argentinian. How exactly were they being racist against him? What race were they targeting? Argentinians are mostly white.
@@Fedorevsky , There has been racism between south, north and east Europeans. Even tough everyone are actually genetically fairly closely related with smooth transitions over vast geographic distances people still see the minor differences.
Great reaction and explanation of her vocals. Floor spends a lot of time using more modern techniques rather than classical. I really would like to see your explanations for: - "Your is an Empty Hope" (live at Wembley), not only because of the growls she does there, but also because of her overall agressive singing in it, including some belts with distortion on top (or that's what I was told it was, but I haven't studied singing, so...) And you'll also get to hear the bassist, who also has an incredible voice. - "7 Days to the Wolves" (live at Barona Arena); which is a very emotional song, and she expresses a full range of emotions in it, and different ways of singing. The high notes (which, as far as I can tell are not head voice, but strong and beefy) are incredible in this song.
That lady wasn't sad, just touched. I love Argentina for their immense public, they jump, dance, sing with solos, excellent. One of the live shows of AC/DC the whole fricking arena jumps up and down, that alone just never fails to give goosebumps all over my body
Great reaction Beth! To give Floor even more credit, this song is usually the last song of the set, so before this there were roughly two hours of singing! She is the perfect fit for Nightwish, I was at their tour finishing concert a month ago and hearing her perform this was absolutely amazing. Their song Greatest Show On Earth (Live Tampere) is great, oh the emotions when the whole arena of 10000+ people sings together "we were here!" Nightwish's original singer Tarja Turunen is worth a listen, too. For example Phantom of the Opera (live End of an Era.) One thing to remember doing Nightwish reactions, always choose live version. The band is Finnish, Floor is Dutch and the third singer. Thanks, keep on doing these!
I love you reacted to this, recently you’ve reacted to a lot of my favourite songs so have subscribed so I don’t miss anything. You can’t go wrong with any of the waken 2013 songs from nightwish. Also poet and the pendulum at Wembley will blow you away. Please react to more from them. If you have a spare 20 mins or so the greatest show on earth at Tampere is well worth listening to.
Just 1 minute in and I have to give you thumbs up just for picking this particular video. It''s by far my favorite version with Floor. It's just powerful and amazing. Always makes me cry a little.
Your reactions are priceless... I love how a giant smile just comes over you when someone does something special. I actually feel myself smiling (or tearing up in some cases). Amazing how much emotion a singer like her can provoke.
First time replying to your videos after watching several, but this one caught my eye. I really enjoyed how you analyzed this, breaking down her styles, but also how much you seemed to enjoy it, how you invested you felt into the song as well as her talent It was a joy to watch. Thanks for this video :) Side note: I'm 37, I grew up with this music in high school. It's a pleasure to see others enjoy it as much as I did!
Great reaction! Thank you for pausing and explaining the technique behind her vocal work! It really made me understand more. You're a great teacher! :)
Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic metal and my favourite song of all time, well band for that matter... The girl at 07:41 isn't sad, the atmosphere at a live Nightwish show is so emotional and intense, it's hard not to let your feelings take over... this was almost myself when I first went to see them live last year, after loving them for 15 years lol. Other Nightwish songs you should react to are: Nightwish - Romanticide live at Wacken 2013 Nightwish - Yours is an empty hope live Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley Nightwish - The greatest show on earth live at Tampere. Another band similar to Nightwish are called Epica, they are slightly heavier though... for them I would love you to check out and react to: Epica - Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith Epica - Kingdom of Heaven live Epica - Sancta Terra featuring Floor Jansen. Epica - Unchain Utopia official live. Please and Thank you!

To listen to your arguments is so exciting while watching your reaction, amazing. Nightwish, one of my favorites. Could you try phantom of the opera with Tarja as nightwish vocalist?
Floor just said in an interview not to long ago. Probably won't happen. It's just not something they are interested in. Other bands do it and it's just hard to do. But never know
I know once Tuomas said that he would love to do the roayl Albert hall with an orchestra but either way where ever they do it I'll be there such a flawless band live
Oh man. I am used to watching the 2013 live at Wacken version, which is my favourite.... but the high note at the end here gave me an even more intense chill than the 2013 version. Floor is a Goddess!
Seeing them live in Milwaukee in 2016 remains one of the great memories of my life. Love seeing Beth's incredulous moments, like, "Wow, did Floor just do that?!"
Funny, the singer you were describing in the beginning was Tarja (tar-i-ya). This is Floor (flor), who is trained in pop, rock, classical, opera, theater, and vaudeville.
Beth, when I first started watching reaction videos you got me hooked. On your evaluations, your beauty and knowledge. I am always watching for your newest videos! You have a fan in me!
One of the most amazing things about Floor's performance in this song (and in many other Nightwish songs), is that these songs where never meant for her. They were written with a different voice in mind, and she just made them hers in a couple of weeks.
Dear Beth, i'm watching this video 100 times.... and i love your reactions and emotions. I'm just looking your face and enjoy it. You just ride a wave watching this song. My favorite video on YT... My favorite reaction on YT. Just love it

So now you have to react to this video: "Devin Townsend performs 'Kingdom' for EMGtv " (Interesting fact: he has never had a single vocal lesson in his life.)
Thank you! Very nice that you did Buenos Aires-version! Most people go with Wacken 2013, but this is also excellent performance :) If you do more Nightwish in future, ANY song from Wacken 2013 is amazing. OR if you want to react more operatic performances with original singer Tarja Turunen, you can't go wrong with Phantom of the Opera!
Lord of the rings and pirates of the Carribbean that's exactly what Tuomas, the writer and keyboard player, is into. And yeah Floor is an extremely good singer and performer. Could you please react to Romanticide live at Wacken 2013? It is an amazing performance of her and the whole band of course!
It's a really interesting performance, seriously. Feels like the first part of the song is Tarja-ish, transitioning to Anette-ish, and then going into full Floor and really making it her own at the end :)
The one trained in lied singing is actually their first vocalist, Tarja Turunen, but that's an easy mistake to make for a Nightwish rookie. :) This one is Floor Jansen and while she also has classical training, she on her part majored in musical theatre, giving her perhaps more versatility by default. I believe she's a dramatic soprano (appropriately for someone who looks like a viking goddess), so if she had chosen to go full-on classical she might have lost the lightness and agility she can display with ease. But yeah, she's incredible -- and a vocal coach herself! :)
She can do that too if she wants to, make no mistake, but since she can do basically whatever she wants with her voice she chooses what suits the occasion best. :D
@@BethRoars Yeah if you listen the band with Tarja, she's full classical all the time. It sounds cool, but it's kind of exhausting on the ears IMO XD Usually the go to clip for Tarja is Nightwish's cover of Phantom of the Opera form their End of an Era concert. It's a great showcase of her voice as well as the bassist Marco's, who don't get to hear in this song :( Marco is boss :)
Her versatility is mostly due to her being taught and singing using the CVT(complete vocal technique) method, which she came into contact with during her Rockademie days. This allows her to switch between those styles so seamlessly, due to sheer practice/experience. ( At that time it was fairly new)
You have to check out all 3 singers of Nightwish. Perhaps all of them singing one song and reacting to their styles. Also react to Epica and Floor Jensen singing Sancta Terra- Live (w/ orchestra).

Gold?? I think they hit the cryptonite mine😂😂 she's from another dimension❤
Totally epic album
I do like very high-quality opera voice ,but Tarja is not opera singer
I do like very high-quality opera vibrato , but Tarja do not have it !!!
Compare Tarja with other opera singers there is 500 better singer than Tarja Turunen
If one better singer will sing it you will see how limited skills Tarja have
Tarja was the first and only orginal singer, floor is also after forever ex singer but nothing can replace tarja her vocals were one of a kind so it's sad that the rest of the band fired her and amazing they are on their 3rd singer now after all them first yrs they made, unfortunetly the music industry
@@mylife3350 Tarja is an autodidact.
She does in person, as well..
A welcome change after tarja and annette
Wow, thank you! 😊
They couldn’t have possibly found a better singer, the world is blessed to have Floor singing for Nightwish, it’s just the best
Floor's Voice is capable of so much and Beautifully & Powerfully.
ah, too bad it wasn't the wacken theatre performance, that one was so much more powerful to me, and with more voice control for sure. But still Floor just absolutely rocks live stuff, its great!
True, the Wacken Open Air performance was more polished, but Floor had only been with the band for less than three months when this was recorded. The "Floor ending" came as a surprise just about everyone (except Empuu, the lead guitarist, who was grinning from ear to ear.) See him at 13:55
Wacken is even more crazy... She's perfect there :)
Watch the documentary "Please Learn the Set List in 48 Hours", and you might begin to appreciate what a bar of gold Floor Jansen really is!
I like the part in Glasgow where she carries part of her stuff in a yellow caution wet floor bucket from the bus into the venue.
My ex partner was at that show in Denver.
@@markschattefor6997 Yes, she actually has a sense of humour 😊
She was booked mid-tour when the then-singer Anette quit. Here Floor is maybe 2-3 months after she started to perform with the band, right?
Can't wait for her reaction to Nightwish - Romanticide :)
totally agree... she HAS TO REACT to Phantom of the Opera, then she can see also the Viking singing in harmony with Tarja.
Damn, Romanticide reaction is gonna be a lot of fun to watch!
Yes to all of those!
Just recently got into these reaction type videos, finding them a lot of fun. Got to say though the quality varies somewhat, and Beth here is the best one I've seen so far. Keep it up young lady!!
That last note still gives me chills. Simply amazing. 😍
We call it "floorgasm"
Their bassist, Marco, is also a really good vocalist too, he did a great Ave Maria duet with Floor. Floor is insanely talented, she has a huge range and can go from death metal growls to pop/rock to classical in a heartbeat.
Yeah, or Marco and Tarja with "the Phantom of the Opera"... specialy live from 2005 End of an Era from Helsinki. Just great performance.
Floor actually replaced Anette Olzon, a subpar singer compared to Floor & Tarja (in my opinion), who replaced original vocalist Tarja Turunen.
LOL learn the set list in 48 hours.....
I would assume the music track was on take (or atlrast split between when they left thr stage and came back). The multi day shooting was more for video edits than audio,
I have seen so many “vocal coach reacts to Floor Jensen” video. The ironic part is, Floor herself is a vocal coach...
That`s coincidence, not irony ;)
A Frog vocal coaches commenting and analyzing on a performance of another vocal coach and a well known singer (in some countries), in a manner of not knowing she is a vocal coach and famous singer, that why it’s ironic to me, and it’s just my opinion. =)
Floor Jansen...
She is awesome!
She actually reacted to and analized her own Wacken performance of this song.
She makes me just melt with that "my fall" part she gives me chills and tears every freaking time.
Yessss everytime
Absolutely. Especially the last one of course.
13:57 - here is the best reaction I've ever seen to this song!
Intro for a second channel, Beth Squeaks?
Vocal coach reacted to a vocal coach!
True. I don't know if she's still doing it right now, though.
@@peterdoe2617 I believe she is, the link is on their website.
I am so glad that I got to see the band on stage!
I cried during their performance.
Floor is amazing!
Also my exwife (when floor was still in after forever,) and she is not a person to easily cry in public, still less because of hearing someone sing 😉
Classical instruments and Metal music is like peanut butter & jelly, they're not supposed to work together but they do!!!

Totally agree .. React to this one ☝🏼
Oh ffs.. How can I not agree with this?
Retrospect show
Thank you for your great reaction Beth!
Indeed... @Beth Roars,
damn you picked the wrong, wrong live to comment upon :( Plz do it again for the Wacken 2013 version. The singer Floor, replaced the previous singer mid-tour and had literaly 48 hours to travel (from Europe to America) and learn the songs (just by listening to the audio of the previous singer) before the next live performance. You HAVE to listen/comment to the other version...
Yeah, sad she picked this one. Not that it's not great, but not the best one.
Floor had the FLU here.......you try singing when you're sick lol
Nightwish - " The Poet and the Pendulum " - Live at Wembley 2015
Rodolfo Tardin I second this!!
Yes. That should be really interesting, as a vocal coach.
How about the original recording (?) 🙄
It's great musically, but the vocals don't stand out the same way IMO
@Void Alone You're gay
I agree. Wacken 2013 is the peak performance for this song.
Beth is having a floorgasm like the rest of us fans of Nightwish.
Hihi, looking for that floorgasm comment! I think she had multiple... 😜
@@teambellavsteamalice Oh yeah... You could visibly see her fall under Floor's spell within moments of the vocals beginning. And then the 'Floorgasm' at the end.... The look on Beth's face... :-)
Yea at 13:53
@@teambellavsteamalice You may very well be correct. I need to watch this reaction again and look for them lol
@Flora Pudelkova Just give in and join us. Resistance is futile :-)
FairsleyDifference alright
From a description to a class :D lovely to see you amazed. You are so professional, honest and beautiful.
floor is definitely one of a kind, her vocal range is just insane and its so clear and she does it effortlessly, its just amazing.
Great reaction and explanation of her vocals. Floor spends a lot of time using more modern techniques rather than classical.
I really would like to see your explanations for:
- "Your is an Empty Hope" (live at Wembley), not only because of the growls she does there, but also because of her overall agressive singing in it, including some belts with distortion on top (or that's what I was told it was, but I haven't studied singing, so...) And you'll also get to hear the bassist, who also has an incredible voice.
- "7 Days to the Wolves" (live at Barona Arena); which is a very emotional song, and she expresses a full range of emotions in it, and different ways of singing. The high notes (which, as far as I can tell are not head voice, but strong and beefy) are incredible in this song.
Beth: aren't you glad we asked for this? Floor is a Goddess!
I bet she's glad. Seemed like she's a lowkey fan xD
I prefer Tarja on this song, but Floor does pretty well here I admit.
Generally I like Tarja better but Floor sweeps the floor with this one :)
Honesty. I think Floor has surpassed Tarja in ability long ago imho.
That lady wasn't sad, just touched. I love Argentina for their immense public, they jump, dance, sing with solos, excellent. One of the live shows of AC/DC the whole fricking arena jumps up and down, that alone just never fails to give goosebumps all over my body
She certainly brings a new meaning to the expression "getting Floored".
Floorgasm
I love the expression on the guitarist's face when she throws out that last note. That's some pure musical love right there!
For example Phantom of the Opera (live End of an Era.)
One thing to remember doing Nightwish reactions, always choose live version. The band is Finnish, Floor is Dutch and the third singer. Thanks, keep on doing these!

One of the most amazing things about Floor's performance in this song (and in many other Nightwish songs), is that these songs where never meant for her. They were written with a different voice in mind, and she just made them hers in a couple of weeks.

Floor is honestly the best singer in symphonic metal right now.
This is what they call a Floorgasm. 😉
I love the reactions when Floor gives that final high note. Jaws usually drop, it's inevitable.
It's a really interesting performance, seriously. Feels like the first part of the song is Tarja-ish, transitioning to Anette-ish, and then going into full Floor and really making it her own at the end :)
It is an absolute joy to watch you!
It's really nice to see a vocal coach like Beth smiling watching a great performance
Ah! It all makes sense! That's why she has that great mix and isn't using a full opera sound! x
@@BethRoars If you want a comparison, here's Tarja performing the same song:

Her versatility is mostly due to her being taught and singing using the CVT(complete vocal technique) method, which she came into contact with during her Rockademie days. This allows her to switch between those styles so seamlessly, due to sheer practice/experience. ( At that time it was fairly new)
You have to check out all 3 singers of Nightwish. Perhaps all of them singing one song and reacting to their styles. Also react to Epica and Floor Jensen singing Sancta Terra- Live (w/ orchestra).
Hey! Here is my reaction to Sancta Terra: th-cam.com/video/AaOulcEH3Ug/w-d-xo.html
Try Nightwish - The poet and the pendulum - live at Wembley... a great performance!
Ma bag si eu in seama aici - If you would like to check her real range PLEASE react to th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html which is Romanticide LIve at Wacken 2013
I love your breakdown and vocal expertise, brilliant channel and you also have a lovely voice 👍👍
Your facial expressions made this reaction worth watching. I have watched a few of your videos and I almost think by hearing you that you may be able to sing this amazing piece. It is truely something not everyone can pull off. Thanks for the great videos I will obviously become a sub to your channel. I am a metalhead but was trained in classical first so I appreciate this performance. I am amazed everytime I listen to Nightwish. I hear something I missed every time I listen to it again.
Floor's Voice is Perfect especially for this song. She sounds Youthful, Vibrant & Powerful. Floor..takes me on an emotional journey!💯
Gives ya goosebumps don't it? :D
She's so talented. Floor Jansen is my goddess. She's an amazon warrior.
She's a Valkyrie.
Very interesting performance, reaction and explanation of her vocal. You can check out another band, but with the same vocalist but in differents styles of singing including also death metal, revamp wild card 2014 live bloodstock
Love your video. I've always been a big fan of Nightwish since 2004 and I'm glad someone as talented as yourself can appreciate her vocals. :)
These folks are working their tails off. Great energy. I just love it.... Floor is just so special! Thank you girl.
