Looking back well into the past! I believe you continued to Chapter 4a and continued using Temperance (as the fourth activating Virtue from previous Chapter). Page 18 Ending a Chapter third paragraph states “Note that some Chapters will ask players to choose which of several paths they want to take. Each option leads to a different Chapter and will trigger an outcome. As such, after players decide which path to take, the current Chapter will end without players having taken any turns.” And following on from that, when you did continue, you chose to Donate a die, which you can’t do to Virtues that have already activated. So surely, you just start Chapter 4a afresh and reset your turn order tokens to suit? I can’t find anywhere in the rulebook or faq that says you do what you did. Other than that, I enjoyed it very much and how nice to see well-painted miniatures! A man after my own heart, lol!
Excellent playthrough, thanks for the effort doing it, appreciate the complete explanations. Quick question, what sleeves are you using? Also, beautiful painting!!
Thank you for the great feedback. I’m glad you like the painting. I use Mayday sleeves for the cards they are the 125% thicker ones. The dark green pack you get 50 sleeves a pack hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Great question. They are 2 different games with a darker theme. One is a dungeon crawler the other is a story driven, dice placement, skill check game. I want to finish this playthrough and I would be able to answer it better. Mike will be doing a review soon. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
This is Mike, but my playthrough coming tomorrow (Thursday) uses the solo-only virtue. I found the solo-only one is MUCH easier to run, instead of dealing with 4 boards, but there's more variety in playing with 1 or 2 basic virtues as your "main" virtues. So both are good options.
@@OneStopCoopShop ah thanks, looking forward that. As a 'seasoned' solo player often I play with multiple characters - for example I prefer Gloomhaven with 3 characters as you get more synergies and possibilities than 2 characters, the minimum. Doing same now with Tainted Grail, using 2 instead of 1 character. Looking forward to your playthrough, excellent content you put out. In the case of SK, it is good to have both options, on one hand you have more depth and options with multiple virtues, but takes longer time to play and more management, vs the single one (forgot how it's called... Perseverance?). Anyway, thanks!
@@Venturello you got it exactly. And the nice thing is you can customize it further... like play 2-handed (with 2 other virtues as minor helpers), 3-handed, full 4-handed like Bairnt did here. Lots of flexibility to the system so you don't get bored.
I will say that controlling 4 virtues has been taxing. It is really cool how you can pass dice but keeping up with all the hand management and figuring out what to do next has been tough. I recommend solo with one virtue. I had a blast playing with Colin using 2 viruses each that was fun. 😃😃👍
I’m not sure I didn’t see why this won’t be available on their web site at some time. I would reach out to the company and see if they have any late pledge option since the rest of the game hasn’t shipped yet. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
They're planning on selling whatever is left from the KS after everything has been shipped. They said it will be available on their web shop on April 28th. But they do have limited stock (according to the KS update) so you'll probably want to keep checking on that day for when the listing goes live. Their webpage is mythicgames.net.
This is more of a rules question than a correction, but you said that at the Danger level you were at only two Shadows could be on the board, and then you placed all four when you used that one Virtue card that put all four Virtues and Shadows out. Does the card override the Danger level?
This is Mike, not Bairnt, and he can chime in, but I THINK adding 4 shadows is right. The rules make a big point about cards taking precedence over anything else. And the shadow limit in the rules I think is only tied to spawning with darkness cards, not to other effects... but I might be totally wrong!
Virtue actions affecting Solomon Kane (moving, exploring, etc) don’t require the virtue to be on the map. Virtues being on the map just serves to stop shadows and to provide aura bonuses to Kane.
@@OneStopCoopShop Thanks for the clarification on that. I haven’t read the rules for this game and was trying to understand the value of the virtues being on the map.
@@christopherlavalette1166 so to explain with more specifics, anytime a shadow would move into a virtue's space, that virtue and shadow are both removed, along with any other shadows within 1 space. So they guard Solomon from shadows giving him -1 to his tests and from them making him draw event cards. Additionally, each virtue is keyed to a specific bonus (like Courage gives +2 to fight tests) if that virtue's miniature is within 1 space of Solomon when he resolves a test of that type. Both bonuses can be VERY important to his success!
I looked through the errata and it was t too bad especially the story we are doing. I’m not surprised there is an errata there were some noticeable mistakes, but not game breaking. 😃😃👍
@@Vlad65WFPReviews I mean, I certainly agree with you that proof reading is important, as an English teacher (and an amateur copy-editor for my wife's writing). That being said, errors in games has been a thing forever, right? I remember it in old war games and roleplaying supplements I played from the 80s. The difference now is they can post a list of them on a website or in a PDF much more easily :). So I don't think the problem has gotten worse in the industry as a whole. Some companies just do their checking less well than others. Like Sleeping Gods has a TON of text, and while I found some minor spelling and grammar errors, there were barely any mechanical errors in the text. - Mike
@@OneStopCoopShop I'm retired but my work often involved writing, editing and proofreading so accuracy is important to me; I avoid making "definitive" statements without hard data or facts, but based on my experiences and comments from others I believe there are more typos, errors and omissions in all writing and communication than there were 20 or 30 years ago. Briefly, I think it comes from a combination of factors. One, is the computer game/program model in which "finished" products don't have to be perfect when sold as they can be fixed in future updates. Two, is greater pressure to rush books and games to market in a era when dozens of new products hit the market every week. Three, these factors and the transient nature of texted communications - in which errors seem transient and of less consequence - makes people feel that text/written accuracy isn't that big a deal. And yes, let's add your point about the massive amount of text being generated today. So, more text and somewhat less fretting about accuracy - I do believe that's the formula for more errors in all written text today - at least in my view.
@@Vlad65WFPReviews you make great points, and yeah, I think the video game model of "finishing it later" has leeched into other industries as well, to all of our detriment :(

About to start this, I assume you recommend playing with all 4 instead of Providence? I'm not worried about space or managing 4.
This is Mike, not Bairnt, but I’m torn. I think running all 4 is more interesting, but also more fiddly and annoying. Providence worked well by itself
@@OneStopCoopShop Thank Mike. I'm trying all 4 now. I may replay a story with just Providence to see how I like her.
thanks
Just for your information, Bordeaux pronunciation is more "bordo" (or a combination of Bored + Dough). "eau" in French is the same as the "o" sound.
Wait, how did Bairnt pronounce it? I would love to know :)
Bor-Dukes? ;)
@@OneStopCoopShop he was not that far :D. But it was kinda like 2 sounds instead of one, like if he was trying to make a sound for the U
@@Thagor95 dang it! That's not nearly as fun :)
But thanks for the catch!
Merci.
How do you rate this game against tainted grail?
For me Tainted grail wins hands down over Solomon Kane but there are some differences. 😃😃👍

problem is error-strewn rules and games are getting far far too common - there used to be something called "proof readers" - it was a useful practice
