A year ago, I was watching Pokemon Sun and Moon, the last episode of the show, I got inspired by all of the character's dreams to improve their lives and make the most of the time they've got by doing what they loved, that was the last daylight saving time, I feel like this is a renewal time for me because I have slowed down in some areas where my consistency was sharp, this video showed up on the day I was going to make my biggest change, which is today, I have lots I want to do with my life and I can't keep myself held back any longer, I have companies I want to create, medals I want to win, lives I want to improve, I'm making it my OWN LIFE POINT to change so I can change the world the way I want, no more holding myself back, it's do or die!

I guess there are differences between cultures and individuals. For me, having someone to whom I have to show my progress, be accountable to, makes me feel like I'm doing it just to tell that other person, not for the sake of myself. Thus I'm more likely to lie or manipulate the truth when being accountable to someone else, whereas I could not do that to myself.

This is THE BEST advice about discipline and consistency I ever seen. I've been applying it for 2 years now, and it rarely failed me. It works better if the person you are making yourself accountable to, is someone who you greatly admire and look up to, rather than someone who you love and feel comfortable with. There is actually a big difference, that not everyone is willing to admit it. Good luck everyone 👍

Embarrassing - when I think of excuses to articulate - that really don't put me in a good view! MUCH easier to tell yourself that something 'got in the way'. (that's my favourite I'm afraid) Accountability Partners : I'm going to think about how to get that going for me. Mmm, has to be someone whose opinion I value....
When I am consistent, it's WONDERFUL - and I feel sooo much better - so anything that can help is very appreciated. Thank you for this -for me - so timeous advice. ******

Hm... I understand, but some advices here goes on the contrary of certain rules I've seen in "48 Laws of Power" rules...
Most of the time, you must keep your goals and aspirations secrets, and not talking certain things to people at all, keep them to yourself, because you never know, your today's friend or partner or even spouse, can be your enemy of tomorrow, and also, you must be confident enough to be able to rely on yourself and not depend on others to check you.
Accountability is a great concept or quality, even more when you are to yourself and don't need other.
Me ? I speak in front of the mirror, and talk to myself harsh when I said I'd do something and finally happen to didnt.
But thats just me though, since most on the time I must only rely on myself.

    • @famminak852
      @famminak852 2 ปีที่แล้ว

cmiiw but for me I apply that particular Law of Power you mentioned at a work/professional environment. I do work towards my 'goal' in discreet. The accountability partner I saw in this video for me is more like my boyfriend, my family, or my (trusted) colleague, basically someone that I am okay to be vulnerable with. And also depend on how I much I trust that person and what KIND of goal. The goal in the video would be something like wake up without snoozing or exercising or stop watching youtube something that we tend to procrastinate the most

When I was living alone I was able to be very consistent - I was working on business development I was running for 2 years and cycling for 5. But then I've started relationships and married. Since then my ability to be consistent wore off dramatically. However, according to this video, it should have improved. What's happening? No, my wife isn't a slacker, if anything she's more disciplined than me.

I think I also have one which I don't see in other videos.
So if you start an activity that you know you do to procrastinate, you need to assign a reason to it, or if you can't then you mustn't follow through with it.
For example when you open up your phone and tap on youtube, ask yourself why you do it? If it's not a very sound reason, put down the phone and place it somewhere far from you, and do your task that you have to complete

how about being your own accountability partner? i am shocked that no one mentioned this in the comments.
as a person who has self-image issues, anxiety and depression, i have a problem of heavily relying on other people's encouragement and validation to get anything done. however, when my support system is unavailable or simply absent, unwilling, or inconsistent themselves, i have no motivation to better myself or get to work. i am lost, i am alone.
therefore, i have decided that i should respect myself and my progress first and more than any other person in my life can so that i don't give my 100% per cent on things i cannot fully control, like other people's attention and encouragement towards me.
i find it much healthier to work on the reasons WHY you proscrastinate and self-sabotage before making other people your rock. this would save a lot of disappointment and fix some behavioral patterns that cause the trouble in the first place. THEN you can find a support system and make other people your rock.
interesting video, but i think you missed a huge point.

You make a really good point. For someone to be a valuable accountability partner, they need to be both invested in you and your goals, and also have the skills and capacity to hold you accountable. Finding someone that ticks all of those boxes can be really hard, but it's SO worth it.
And the more power to you for trying to be your own accountability partner right now. I had to do that, but going it alone made the journey take so much longer. Know that there are people and coaches out there that specialize in showing up for you, so you can finally show up for yourself. 😊

You would need a consistent type of accountability partner for them to care enough to follow up to make sure you achieved your goal. That’s a big task to put on a friend. I can only see this working if the person is paid (like a personal trainer or business coach).

  • @CassieWinter

Having an accountability partner can indeed be transformative for your productivity. It's really important to keep in mind, however, that not everyone benefits from external accountability. If you do benefit from external accountability, it's then really important to pick a partner who is invested in your and your goals, and has both the skills and the capacity to hold you accountable.

ugh... I have conditioned myself not to care about fitting in... and having someone to help me be accountable doesn't work..cause I don't care what they think!! and I am highly independent and issolate... I think my struggles run deeper than the average.

I like the video, but I would never do that, I would never put myself in a position of being accountable to others. I know that works well for many, but I do not want to be held accountable to anyone else but myself. If I can't get it done then it just won't get done. I'm a very independent person. There are drawbacks to being accountable to other people.

I agree. I personally don’t think having an accountable would be a sustainable way in a long run. I think it’d be much better if one can find an approach to become their own accountable self.

I'm not a huge fan of the video in its current form. It has some good advice but could (and should) be built on.
The technique is extremely effective if you want to achieve your goals, but misusing it can put you in a place where you're depending on accountability to get anything done, it's also very fear-driven which is simply not a great or healthy way to go around things in the long-term. What I'd recommend doing is implementing some accountability mechanisms in your life, but refining this technique not to be fear-driven but one that helps create a better YOU (not your achievements), build up the discipline and personality of a person who does their best for himself and the world - or whatever are your motivations - not for any external validation.

ah, tfw i can do 30 day challenges, but my depression gives 0 fucks if i wanna do something long term or not, no matter what consequences, to suicidal thoughts as endgoal >.<
like i dont give a fuck on who i let down and with what... only thing that helps is positive reinforcement of seeing myself improve in art and showing others and myself what i made and looking back on it. but even that doesnt help me being consistent, just keeps me coming back for a new spree... i cant daily draw for 2hr... starting is the hardest thing, and even when i started i need things to draw that engage me a bit. which ehh... most of the time i dont know what to even draw because my skills arent at a level where i can produce things that look like the ideas in my head which just is demotivating instead. pff ill get there eventually, everytime i draw for a while i get better so it should fix itself
