Hi Ben, I would place either the star apple or soursop in the ground where the Panama berry was, protect over winter. Lucuma is too slow, leave it in the pot. Both banana racks look ready to bring down and ripen indoors Your trees are a month ahead of mine in growth, maximums here are still in the teens most days!
Thanks George, yeah I’ve been watching your videos, surprised how long it’s stayed cool for you this year. Starting to warm up a bit now hopefully. I just up potted the soursop not long ago so will give it time to recover. Star apple is a possibility but they can get huge and it’s right next to the shed. Then someone today said they might have a marcotted longan for me! Too many options!
Thanks for the tour ben. If it was me I would be taking a chance with one of the exotics, That spot seems to have plenty of protection. Everything’s looking good.
It’s a good warm protected spot in the garden. Could be worth trying an exotic, my strategy has been to grow them up a bit till they’re bigger and stronger before doing that, could be an option though.
Place is looking great. Id go with the peanut butter fruit. It really won me over last year. It fruited for a really long time, and not all at once. I must have been picking them early at first because they are really great. Let them get completely dark red, and its like a fatty savoury jam. Hopefully you get to try them but if not, I dont think you can go wrong with one.
I’m in Perth and have a lemon drop, they don’t like direct sun when young even in winter. Mines in dappled morning sun and is doing well. I killed my first one by planting out in direct sun. Peanut butter fruit is a nice looking plant but I think you would probably find it similar to the Panama berry as in its a small novelty fruit.
Hey Ben i have been to a guys house up the sunshine coast that had a solo fruiting lucuma. I have 2 seedlings from him, 1 seedling from another source and the grafted one from daleys. Hopefully one fruits for me!
I'd simply go with another panama berry as the kids probably love the fruit, especially as they grow so fast and fruit so quickly , otherwise its going to have to be a starfruit OR starapple. Dont bother with the peanut butter fruit there, its more of a novelty fruit 😁
Yes a few people have said that about peanut butter fruit! I’ve cut the Panama berry down to the stump now and I’ll leave it for a bit to see whether it shoots back before I choose something
everything is doing well ,
Great round up tour thanks Ben, looking good for the approach of Summer

Thanks for your thoughts! I’ll hopefully get some fruit this year to try and then make a call.

That could be it. Good to know your views about the peanut butter fruit. I think it will stay in the pot.

Nice one, did I you like the fruit? I’ve only had the ice cream many years ago in Peru. What varieties you got, mine is a montalban seedling.

Your collection looks very healthy. I think Herrania like almost full shade. Where did you get the Montalban lucuma from?
