Glycolysis - Biochemistry

  • This biochemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into glycolysis which can be divided into two phases - the investment phase and the pay off phase. Glycosis converts glucose into 2 molecules of pyruvate and produces high energy molecules such as ATP and NADH in the process. It discusses the nomenclature of the molecules and enzymes involved in each step. Enzymes mentioned include the kinase enzyme, isomerase, PFK-1, aldolase, enolase, and mutase enzymes.

    This video was INCREDIBLE.
    Just one little thing phosphoenol pyruvate in step 9 had an extra H. Just drop a little marker should be fine.

      If you add an extra H it will be pyruvic acid instead of pyruvate; thus, the lecture is on point, my brother.

    • @Chris-pt6hh
      @Chris-pt6hh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@king-yq5xj The extra H for an acid would create -COOH group from the -COO, not the impossible spot it is in this video. (in reality, in pH 7 environments, these would all be acids instead)

    • @sandhyatelluri2346

    What I love about this video is how it really explains and expands the chemical reactions. This way, I know what reaction is happening each step of the pathway and for someone like me who's always asking the question why? Why is this happening? This video is the best friend I needed to understand glycolysis. And there was little distraction so I was able to focus. And you didn't rush the process. You took it step by step and I wasn't confused at any point. Thank you so much! I really can't tell you how grateful I am.
