It's because of the market, and performance. When I'm going to be buying a new high high performance car, like a ferrari or Lamborghini, I want the highest performance i can get, really any automatic nowadays (especially a dct or tct) will be faster all around and smoother than any manual transmission or the best manual driver. It makes sense to have a manual option for sports cars, like the mustang gt, or Subaru brz, bc it'll be fun, practical, and people will actually buy it.
This is the first and only sportscar I've ever driven, so I don't have much to compare it to, but god what a machine it is. The sound is amazing and it handled great! Still holds a special place in my heart and I hope to ever be able to afford one before we are no longer allowed to drive them. Maybe electric is the future, but I will surely miss this.....

You can tell how much of a handful this car is to drive by the way he’s wrestling with the steering wheel on the corners and when the car breaks traction. Beginner drivers need to stop underestimating cars. I’m just glad AutoTopNL’s drivers are professionals and we don’t have to worry about accidents on this channel.

I honestly love and prefer this R8 generation than the new one, especially the V8. It is not tremendously fast, probably remapped BiTDI will beat it, but damn it has a soul and a character! Not that the V10 is bad, but V8 is pure emotion. Unpopular opinion, but I don't like show offs, I like cars that remind me of emotion.

It's crazy to think how much horsepower has gone up over the years. The new RS 3 makes almost as much horsepower as the old R8. And the new RS 5 makes more. The current R8 makes almost double the horsepower as the old R8.

I had the good fortune of driving a first GEN R8 coupe, and also found it very balanced and easy to oversteer in, at will 👌.
Anybody who compares this car's 0-60 time to a Golf R is NOT a car guy.
And this is why manuals will always be better.
