Eric how's the reliability been? What boost and hp. Got pistons? I have an m5 and e30 with an s62.. somethings getting supercharged haha, Any tips to keep everything running smoothly? What kind of problems have you had?
@@slick408 Reliability is great, car has never left me stranded. About 11 psi boost with the 2.95 pulley and I'm not exactly sure were I am with power, but based on the car putting down 590 hp at the wheel a few years back before a lot of the fine tuning was done, I would put money on it being somewhere in the neighborhood of 650-700 WHP. I'm running the RK Autowerks V3 Vortech intercooled supercharger setup. Stock internals but just about everything you can bolt on has been done to my car. Make sure to change the rod bearings and if you run over 600 whp, plan on upgrading the transmission as the 2nd gear in the stock Getrag trans will not hold the power. Although your e30 with the s62 is lighter so it may be OK. No major problems as long as you run really good fuel, do all the supporting modifications including methanol injection, large radiator and big electric brushless fan. These engines love to breath and I've found slight things you can do which frees up a lot of power which include having a cone air filter installed directly on the back of the supercharger. I had an elbow on mine and we took it off during a dyno tune and gained 25 WHP just from removing the elbow. Also, I had a complete Supersprint exhaust system with CAT delete, but found there were a lot of kinks in the pipe system causing resistance and that building a custom 3" mandrel bent exhaust system behind the Supersprint headers with racing resonators freed up A LOT of power above 5000 rpm. I did a Tremec T-56 Magnum XL transmission swap with a SPEC Mini Twin disc clutch that weighs in at a little over 14lbs. I think the factory clutch and flywheel setup is around 45lbs and the super light clutch and flywheel really makes a huge difference in the car's response and power to the ground. It frees up a ton of weight off the rotating mass of the engine and transfers it directly to the back wheels.. The car revs like an Indy car and is extremely responsive, an absolute beast to drive. I plan to have the car re-tuned by Frank Smith soon and will post dyno numbers. I should do an in depth video on my car, I can't believe this video has over 1.8M views!
@Nab If I drive easy, I see about 22 mpg around town and 36 mpg at 75-80 mph. The open exhaust with cat delete helps the engine breath and the supercharger increases volumetric efficiency so I've actually increased efficiency at highway speeds. Once you lay into the boost, she drinks a lot.
