WHAT!!!!!! SO EXCITED 😊
Hop in the premiere - i t's about t o start, live chat too
I have hmmmmed and arrrrred over that for flipping ages. Now I know thank you Tracey
You’re welcome Coyo
Incredible! I can’t see the difference between the two. The glitter is lovely. Can’t wait to see more experiments soon.
Part 2 will premiere on Saturday, and there will be a part 3 so do let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to test with it
Being in a cool environment means the PU will take longer to be able to heat up, purely because the environment will be sucking the heat from it. Could be problematic with the bubbles and such.
Summer in 'the sunshine state' of Queensland Australia, and my PU gets almost painfully hot and sets in like 2 minutes. I've had to stop using it on hot days because it won't cure white, it's been curing yellow or milky rather than solid, so I'm guessing the heat is making its that I cannot stir it as much as I need to, and the one time I forced myself to mix longer than I wanted too, it set in the cup. I mix for about 30 seconds in careful swipes and stirs, the cloudiness goes away easily but it gets sooo hot. So please be careful when your temps change because it will more than likely be affected!
Yeh I’m lucky in the Uk as it rarely goes over 30: and in winter out house heating is set to 19 or 20 which seems to make it very happy. In summer I’ll get a load of fans tuning to cool the room before I risk using it
Sorry I missed your premiere Ms. Tracey, I got busy doing something.
So basically as it stands now there's no real advantage over clear PU compared to Epoxy based on time and cost comparisons as of now.
1 hour for PU vs 2 to 4 hours for regular Epoxy depending on the brand isn't too big of a change unless someone just has to have an hour turn around.
Cost wise not an advantage for PU either so no real benefit there.
Then there's other considerations as well hardness level, long term clarity in general not just UV yellowing, there's probably other things but I lost my train of thought 😂
Anyway thank you so much for making this video you are awesome!!!!
That is how it seems to me at the moment yes. I'll continue experimenting though, and if a new version comes out that cures faster - then that's a biggie. Right now it's a very good alternative to the fast cure resins - especially for those who don't have het mats or curing machines. I'll be testing the UV resistance, and also putting it outside in the frost and snow and comparing that too. One thing I have just discovered - PU is aquarium safe....... you can imagine where my thought process is going now......
@@miniscenesgb aquarium safe IS a plus.
I'd like to make things like THAT! Thanks for telling me.
Thanks again Ms. Tracey 😀
@@TwistedAnomalyArts I'll test it on a tank with just snails soon :)
I found myself nodding whilst you were talking at the end of the video as if you were talking to me directly 🤣🤣🤣. I would looove some clear PU. Defo more interested if it could be for deeper moulds. ❤❤❤ just realised it was a direct chat video 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I missed it 😢
Yes the depth is a thing. I'll test if we can layer it soon and also how deep we actually can get away with. They recommend max 15mm, but that's a recommendation - I bet we can push it a bit further. Be interesting to see what Just4YouOnline come up with. Be great if we get different depth ones like they do with Epoxy
Amazing PU experimenting video,Ms Tracey. Its great to see you sharing your experimenting working with it,and it looks pretty awesome. The keychains and clouds look beautiful 😍💜
Thank you so much!
I was really hoping that the clear PU would set up as fast as the white. That was really why I wanted it.😅. Maybe J4U will cure faster🤞. 😍
I’ll let you know as soon as I hear more. 1 hour is good but with 2 hour epoxy out there, it’d be a much bigger game changer if this stuff was as fast as the white
That's amazing. is the number of the video a mistype or are you hiding 20 videos?
Haha good spot, I’ll fix that when I get online properly later
This is a huge plus! Looking forward to seeing how the dragon pour comes out. 💗
Yes :) The dragon will have to wait till the new year though when I have a bigger supply of PU
@@miniscenesgb I understand.
My goodness that’s fantastic news! Thanks for letting us know.
Any time!
Hi Tracey this is exciting 🎉thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
Yes, so looking forward to J4U releasing theirs
Thanks for letting us know about this new product. The PU could be better as a topcoat, for all of us who don't have curing machines. ❤❤❤
After testing the clouds for UV light, will you put them outside to test whether the weather changes them! 😂
I didn’t plan to as it’s hard frost and snow here, but I can if you want, I can try it as a top coat too. Do you mean on top of epoxy? I use 2 hour cure epoxy or UV usually but I can test this too. I’ll add that to the list 😊
When you tap them with your nail...the epoxy sounds more dense somehow...and the PU more plasticy like you said. Very interesting!! 😊
Yes, I wasn't sure if the sound difference would come over on film, but there is a small difference. I don't think I've seen videos where that difference is shown, it intrigued me
Clear PU resin--game changer for sure!!
It really does seem to be
I saw a video working on skateboard wheels. I was thinking wait is he using a clear PU Resin? You have confirmed I wasn't losing my mind
Yep, clear PU😍 I’m dying to see what Just4 YouOnline release like this, especially as they will ship worldwide
WOW I could not use it here right now, it’s over 50°c right now at almost 1pm in the shade it’s 46°c so that would be a winter time use for me here in the Aussie Outback.
If it’s lighter then it’s great for earrings.
You should get a timer for the UV lamp, just turn it on and let the timer turn it on and off for you.
The lamp has a timer if I want but I’m in there all day so I just turn it on and off every so often lol
This is a total time saver!
Yes 😊
Very cool tutorial. And I’m sure all of us would love a resin that doesn’t break our bank accounts. Can’t wait to see what else you pour with this and highly curious about the dragon pour. ❤❤❤ your tutorials and this one I’ll be watching for updates. 🥰
I'll keep you posted :)
Quite. Game changer, for sure! I think the glitter helped hid bubbles, but I usually glitter most things anyway. Thank you so much for letting us know this is out there and that it works!!
Glad it was helpful!
SWEET Yet disappointed they don’t ship to the states 😢 hopefully soon
that's why I put the news update at the end - that firm ship worldwide :)
Yay, great find! You need one of these IR thermometers so you don't have to touch it. What was the difference in cost with pu versus epoxy?
Nah that would mean numbers lol. Price wise roughly similar to epoxy from what I’ve seen so far
Good morning Ms Tracey, watched it early morning, I must say this turned out super cute, love that cute cloud, and it is amazingly clear and the keychain also is so adorable 😍. Thank you always for sharing your experiences, reviews that help crafters to select right choices💜💜💜
Good morning! Glad you liked it, it’s great stuff
They both look extremely alike for sure❤❤❤❤
This will be great for jewellery makers. How does the PU Differ in terms of cost? 🤓
The link is in the video description so you can check out the cost. Seems similar to epoxy I think so far
@@miniscenesgb fabulous, thank you. I’ll take a look
I am in US and when I entered the product description into AMAZON here, this it came up with a similar product
Good to know Deb. Once Just4YouOnline launch theirs it'll be shipable worldwide. Do you have the link for it on Amazon USA pls? I'll add it to the video description so others can find it too
@@miniscenesgb I keep trying to give you the Amazon link, and it keeps going away.
@@debbrady497 that's a pain - want to try in Discord maybe? My discord link is traceyminiscenes
@@miniscenesgb I’m not sure how to get into Discord, but I posted it in your community tab as a reply to your info on the clear PU resin
Exciting news. Thanks for doing these tests, it will be interesting to see the results. Very Christmas season nails by the way!!!💅🎄❤️
Thank you! And glad you like my nails :)
Crazy!!
Yes!
Good video Tracey ! I’m going to check Amazon here in the states for that link ❤❤
It’s good stuff. If you find it for the US please share the link
Unfortunately, I can’t get PolyCraft here in the States, and resin can’t be shipped overseas. 😡
Yes, that’s why I was so excited to add new newsflash at the end of the video 😊 once that happens in the new year, sorted
Cool! Hopefully it will hit Canada soon.
Hope so :) If all else fails Just4YouOnline will be shipping worldwide as usual once they have it available too, though of course shipping cost is a factor s that is out of their control
😅😅😅 it's December around the world not just UK 🇬🇧
I was referring to the weather. That is what December in the UK looks like
cool stuff. Thanks
No problem!
I love using Dixie cups too 😂❤
handy aren't they
Amazing atuff! Definitely going to buy it!
Yes it's good. I'm not restocking till we see what Just4YouOnline come up with, so I'll let you know how that goes when I get it
I am so jealous!! I can't find any pu resin where I am.😢😢
Oh no! In the new year when J4U release theirs, they will ship worldwide, though shipping costs are beyond their control of course
Interesting. Just read the web page info. Doesn't ship to the US at this point.
Here is the info right off the website. One thing i noticed is the comment under Mixing instructions: do not use paper cups or wooden sticks to mix material.
Polycraft OptiCast 1000 is a two component polyurethane system which is water clear when cured. Polycraft OptiCast 1000 is ideal for rapid prototyping, embedding or any type of clear casting.
Mould Preparation
Before use ensure that the master model from which the mould is made has the exact finish that is required in the cast or finished units, i.e. for optimum clarity polish the master model to a very high sheen. Ensure that the mould is clean and dry. If the mould is made from metal or resin, use a release agent. Condensation cured silicone rubber should not be used with OptiCast 1000. It may be necessary to preheat the mould to 40°C in order to prevent shrinkage at the corners and sides of the casting.
Resin Preparation
Open both A and B containers and examine for any signs of crystallisation, place in the oven at 45 - 60°C if any crystals are observed. Ensure that both components
are between 20 - 25°C before mixing. If using pigments, add the pigment to the part A.
Mixing instructions
Do not use paper cups or wooden mixing sticks as these may introduce moisture to the mix which may cause excess air in the cast or cure inhibition. Mix the two components at the correct ratio, mixing carefully to avoid air inclusion and making sure the material at the sides and bottom of the mix vessel is well stirred into the middle. The material may become cloudy in appearance for a few minutes. Pour the material into the mould, ideally onto the sides and in one place to reduce air bubbles
Curing
If the casting has thin sections, it is advisable either to use preheated moulds (see “Mould Preparation” above), or to post cure the castings after gelation in an oven at 40 - 50°C for 3 hours. Allow the casting to cure for at least 48 hours before machining or polishing. To avoid distortion ensure that the material does not reach temperatures above 60°C during machining or polishing.
Yes, all of this is covered in the video
Thank you for taking the time to share all of that info.
Wow
Yeh, so much potential. More testing up in tomorrow's premiere, 9pm UK time
Hi, great video you made. Just wondering about the availability and cost of PU Resin v Epoxy Resin. For me personally the cost is one of the first things I look at as well as the quality of the Resin
The link is in the video description so you can check out the cost. Seems similar to epoxy I think so far
So what are the advantages, Tracey? How would it compare with UV resin which cures really fast with a UV light? Which is stronger and less likely to crack or shatter when dropped? If the PU is aquarium safe then is it food safe too?
Not good safe. I'm not doing a comparison to uv as it's completely different. You need full PPE and it's a 2 part mix. It's an epoxy alternative. The comparison is covered in this video.
I'm curious, what does that flat mold make? the result is incredible!
Just keychains :) It was a cheapie, rather nice though
Great video, will have to check if can be got in Australia ❤
You should! once it launches in the new year Just4YouOnine ship worldwide too
Nice trial, I'mma gonna want to give that a try for sure, I'm also wondering how colorants work in it, and IF colorants can work in it!
You read my mind 😎 video of initial experiments with colours made and editing today ready to premiere on Saturday, with live chat
@@miniscenesgb yay!
I think for a cheaper alternative it's defo one to use as resin can be super expensive.. and for smaller makes like keychains which is a game changer for me. Larger products or deeper its defo resin.
It's not cheaper unfortunately :( But so great for quick makes. I'm excited for when Just4YouOnline release similar int he new year. it'll make it more available worldwide
@miniscenesgb oh right I found it on somewhere and it wasn't expensive.. and the black and white to where Cheaper than the clear. Alot cheaper than my resin... and I've never bought from just for you online. I was interested in the 2.hour cure one but I died at postage cost lol so never bothered x
@@dandaresinme too lol😮
Wondering if I can get it in the US? How does it compare expense wise to epoxy resin?
Apparently someone has found it on Amazon US, I’ve asked for the link to be shared. I. The new year J4U will have it and ship worldwide too. Cost wise, seems similar to epoxy so far
Can someone explain what the difference is between Poly resin and Epoxy resin? Why would you chose one over the other? (Sorry, im a noob with resin)
Covered in this video ☺️ summary PU cures faster, and for anyone with severe allergy reactions to Epoxy it’s a possible alternative as it’s a totally different load of chemicals
hello. looking for a resin that cures with a softer surface texture. was wondering if polyurethane was possibly just that. but its still quite a hard surface the same as expoxy? thanks 😊
Yes rock hard
I still don't understand where the polyurethane resin is and where the regular one is.
How can I help? No one else has commented such, please let me know what you need
I've no experience with PU resin, but does it do well with mica or alcohol inks?
I've been testing that - video on colourings and such will be Saturday's premiere :)
Unfortunately, they don't ship to the US 😢
No, that's why I put the good news at the end of the video :)
If only JFY had a US stockist - shipping is too pricey
@@crow9669 yes I have the same problem shipping from US and other countries to the UK so I get ya. Maybe one day they will
Hi Tracey, I've got some of this, I've used black for a while, but I'll be interested to know whether the clear yellows, because their white and cream both yellow in the sun. What's your verdict? Great work.
More on this stuff tomorrow in my video premiere. I only filmed this first one in the last couple of days but UV so far no effect but then I've never had that issue with the white either. I'll keep testing. Going to try it outside with all our horrible winter weather too. I didn't know they did cream. It does say UV resistant but my advice is no resins that we use are outsideproof really. Be interesting to see what Just4YouOnline's version is like. Verdicts at the end of each video
@@miniscenesgb Thank you
Ooops it fell in my basket!
Haha! Enjoy. I'll keep you posted on J4U releasing their versions in the new year
It's going to fall in my basket too!
How do the prices compare?
The link is in the video description for the sales, I think it's much the same as epoxy. Will be interesting to see how prices look when Just4YouOnline release theirs in the new year but I am expecting it to be similar too
I can't find it in the US, just Europe 😢.
Yeh it's not always easy to find the fast cure clear one over here either, seems rather intermittently available
How much does it cost?
The links for purchases including price are in the video description for you :)
They don't sell it in the U.S.
Not that brand no
Stupid Question: What on gods green earth is that round bubbly looking mold suppose to be of? Lol Is it suppose to be a bubble mold? Or maybe a cloud mold? Sorry for my stupidity! Lol
As I mention in the video, its a cloud lol. I thought it's be good for seeing shine and bubble situation
does this PU resin smell ?
No idea, we need to wear a respirator when using it, same as with Epoxy resin.
lol nice paw print :)
I can’t even find the black here in the US, anyone out here that can advise me? Please 🫶🏼
See the nws update at the end of the video - that firm will ship worldwide . I'll let you all know when they launch it
@@miniscenesgb Thank you I did see that just wasn’t sure if there was any available currently. Again, thank you!! 🫶🏼
