So without going thru the headache or dropping the entire transmission, is there a way to someone just crack it open and spray parts cleaner in there to maybe drain the debris out? @BigBensCarsAndCycles so... I bought the 2012 Focus 2 weeks ago. The transmission was slipping and shuddering some. It wasn't real bad, but I wanted it to be as good as possible since it is going to someone who doesn't know a lot about cars and just needed some cheap transportation for a while. Well, my son has been driving it mostly(700 miles), so I was getting ready to work on it today, and I took it out for a drive. It didn't shudder. I had my wife drive it. No shudder. I went out for a ride with my son. He could make it shudder, but normal driving it was fine. I've decided to leave it alone unless it gets worse. Now, I have $1k in parts and tools. I'll have to go buy another one that actually needs a clutch.🤪
Go drive the car hard and it'll mitigate shudder for a while. But it'll be back. And shudder is pretty much characteristic on these and people have been living with it until a fork locks up.
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles I have a feeling that is what my son was doing. As I have been going over this car, it looks it may have sat for a little bit before I bought it. The car only has 80k miles, and some barely used parts look a little rusty. Maybe it just needed some hard driving, as you said.
