Thanks! We’ll feature it in-use in a video sometime soon (might be doing that while we are in St Helena).

Thanks! Give a follow and keep an eye out showing it in use. It’s even 3D capable, but getting DLP-Link 3D glasses in South Africa was a no-go.

I've honestly wondered why we don't see a setup like this more often as a factory option. I've got a cat that I designed in fusion360 (what a massive pita that was...) and it has a 100" screen in basically the same location (except it comes down lower with counters on either side instead of how the 444 is laid out) because I am a fiend for the big screen when watching movies.
And yeah, finding a projector with a throw ratio for that large a screen was painful. I ended up designing it with an ultra short throw mounted upside down on the cabin top, lol.

Yeah, the projector seemed like an obvious solution to me. For their part, Vision was happy to make it happen and I think they may end up doing a few more, now that some other hull owners have seen this. I thought about the UST projector, but I really wanted to be able to play on the fabric screen outside too, so I spent way to much to get a projector with that throw ratio. On the plus side, it is more of a commercial / large space offering, so it is IP6x, if I’m remembering that correctly, which is dust sealed, so I’m hoping it will take longer for the salt air to kill it.

@@OnANewTack That's nice having a decent IP rating on it. I didn't even know they made projectors with IP ratings.

So....we should just take your word for it ? Close the windows & turn it on. I think it would work well calmly at anchor, but the vibrations would affect focus with any rocking or a genny running, never mind a motor. Prove me wrong, plse.

To be honest, we haven’t tried while underway, but we will do a video to show it in use. It’s just a little hard now being underway with crew and it does block the cockpit door. I’m going to do a follow up video with our entire entertainment solution and seems like a perfect opening to show the projector in use! I will say, I think it will work just fine. There is almost no vibration or play in the mount. It is very substantial, welded aluminum plate, but I can’t think of a better video then starting on a movie playing and pan out to rocking motion. Excited to find out!

@@OnANewTack First, sorry for the snarky tone; just frustrated to not know if such a great idea works. I think there must be some hard limit or we would have seen it on the smaller super yachts where space & weight are still an issue, but $$ is not. I love yacht porn -the $$$$ yacht tours on YT- & can't say that I have. Thx for the response. Just subscribed.

@@Dogasaurus no worries Richard, I choose to read all comments as positive/helpful and know that comments (like texts) can come across negative or short when that wasn’t the intention. It always works out just fine and hey look we got another subscriber, so all good!! Thanks and valid point and fair challenge. I’m not sure why it’s not done more; we have been super happy with it.

Just about to release a follow-up with it in use under way. Let me know what you think!
