Awesome design scheme! I manage an aquarium shop in North Carolina and today a customer came in wearing a Frank shirt! She said she's been a big fan of your's for a while now and was envious that you and I met during Reefapalooza 2015 in NYC haha.

I don't how you do it - I wasn't a fish person, I probably won't ever get any fish BUT I love your videos and have learnt so much about fish and definitely have a new found appreciation for them.
On a sad note, I lost my Mom a few days ago and watching your videos is just about the only thing keeping me sane and together. Distraction in the form of Joey videos are the best anxiety, depression, grief suppressants..
And I just wanted to thank you for your hard work u put into these videos. ❤

You want to fill it up before you staple the edge of the liner, as the weight of the water will push all the corners in

  • @62paintballer
    @62paintballer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I would suggest adding faux stacked rock house siding for the sides of the pond! It would add more to the cost, I know. But, I feel like it would dress it up nicely in the cheapest and easiest way!

Hey Joey i tried building a plywood aquarium (500 gallon) after seeing ur how to video on it and it was great for 2 months but then the glass just came off and the entire house was flooded with 500 gallons of water. So my parents are kinda scared now when ever u drop a new vid😂😂
This was a while ago and the tank was just sitting there but this pond build of yours inspired me to make a pond out of it and i really wanted to keep black diamonds in it. I used to hate sting rays but because of ur videos i now love them. (I probably am gonna have to sell my ps4 to get them though )

Instead of just painting the outside black did you think about doing a 3D kinda outside to make it look like a mound or something more natural? could use Plaster wrapping and use balloons to make rocks and maybe even embed real sticks into the side and esc, almost like your Aqua decor backgrounds. Also would probably help installation also.

    G'day Joey,
A great way you can heat ponds like these is to run pipe work around core (between planks).. on a closed circuit with pipes running into large olive drum with only 1 heater.. if out doors you can bury drum in ground for better insulation..
Then you should insulate between the ribs with expanda foam before covering with ply..
Or you can run a radiator base system on bottom... only issue is this takes longer to heat and cool..
FYI I have done a build like this in the past and found coil heating ( around sides within bracing).. is the most efficient for heating and cooling...
    Great build

  • @The.MrFish

Could run threaded rods through each corner instead of using bolts fairly cheaply and it would help spread the load on the corners.

After watching your video asking for the definition of an at home pond and thinking about it, imo i believe an indoor pond requires 4 things.
    1. Semi low to the ground so the main viewing window is the top
    2. Open top
    3. A variety of wildlife and plant life
    4. Natural filtration

Don’t buy the white foam I have about 2” of it under mine and the water is still almost ice cold in the winter. Use the pink foam it’s cheaper better made and comes in larger sizes. Try 3” high which should compress a little still giving you a little over 2”.

It's a shame with a lids on to stop humidity it will become an uninteresting box in the corner. Especially once the corrugated roofing sheets are on.
It's just the cheapest possible indoor monster tank to build.
    Ponds dont have lids.

Without wanting to sound like a negative nancy, I think making this with right angles is a big mistake.
I pictured this as having a bowed front, which would make it more of a pond and less like a closed-in tank.
I hope I’m ultimately wrong, but I feel that aesthetically, this is going to stand out as an eyesore in your otherwise beautiful gallery.

I don't know if I am allowed to mention other channels in the comment section ( my apologies Joey if this is not allowed) but there is a youtuber 'myaquaticdiary' who owns a breathtaking collection of GIANTS ... and hopefully, this will help you regarding the pond stocking (and am also betting on you getting inspired from his videos to make your own 5000+ gallons pond or aquarium :P )
