Why Women Collectives Benefit Everyone: Meet The Baobab Collective

  • Women in Ghana are working together to make a living off trees. When we visited our reforestation project there, we met the Baobab Collective.
The baobab fruit is a superfood that grows on trees. To process it, the women crack open the fruit, grind it into powder, and mix it with flour to make food. When mixed with water, it can be drank as a medicine.
Living in a rural area means that these women depend on trees for food. Now that they have formed a collective, they can prepare enough baobab to sell and save money. This means that their husbands now rely on them to support the household. These women now care for each other through tough times.
Thanks for watching! Oh, and did you know we just launched brand new designs on our online shop? The sales from each t-shirt funds the planting of 20 trees at one of our reforestation sites: ecosia.teemill.com/
Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees. Every month we invest at least 80% of our surplus in tree planting projects all over the world.
Make Ecosia your default search engine to plant trees while you search the web: info.ecosia.org/#install
Ecosia is available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE, and many more.
You can also download Ecosia on your mobile:
    ecosia.co/ecosiaformobile
Stay updated on how Ecosia is helping reforest the planet by visiting our blog: blog.ecosia.org, on Instagram (@ecosia), on Facebook (@Ecosia) or by subscribing to our newsletter (ecosia.co/newsletter).

Oui et on devrait dire à plus de gens autour de nous d'utiliser Ecosia comme moteur de recherches. Pour qu'en France, plus de gens soutiennent la cause.
Les français feraient enfin quelque chose d'utile au lieu de casser leur patrimoine.

They are in Ghana, so it's possibly either of Akan or Dagbanli as they are the two most widely spoken native dialects. However, there are others and I can't speak any of them.

I don't think ecosia will ever become the dominant search engine, sadly. There are over 20 search engines. There is too much competition.

  • @mathematics5573

Those large trees are older than ecosia. Where are the newly planted trees and the trees that are 5 years old?

I'd rather see videos of seedlings growing in nurserys, and panoramic film of landscape planted up with 100s and 1000s of saplings. I want to see GREEN GREEN GREEN.
