How do you fight aircraft like the Spitfire or J2M in vehicles like the P-51 or P-47? From my experience, people always say "Oh lol, just extend away" but never say "Then do this to reengage." I don't care about "extending away" so much for the entire match when I literally have no one else on my team because they died near instantaneously and I'm the only one left having to fight off a J2M or Bf-109 with whatever I have.
Idk about J2Ms, but with Spitfires I think you got it pretty much right, you gotta extend away. More specifically I get them to follow me and pick up speed at a slight angle, enough for them to take the bait and chase me, but not enough for them to catch me. This is a balancing act. Once you start outrunning them you can slowly level out and keep running. If you're in a situation where you're flying a P51 and they're behind you in a Spitfire, both going about 600-700 kph, at the same altitude, then they will lose speed (and energy) much faster. This is because your plane deals better with high speeds. You can even do a very slight, 5-10 degree climb then to deepen your advantage. You reengage once it's safe to turn around (he's more than ~2km away) and you have enough energy to deal with him (you're higher alt and going faster). Once you're back above the Spitfire you can start to boom and zoom, as you would if you started the game above him. If he's on course to do a head on attack you easily dodge it and keep running, he'll do a 180 losing even more energy. Careful not to over commit the dives or you will end up below and close to him. This is not a very exciting method, but I find it pretty reliable when dealing with Spitfires in P51C/D. It's pretty much just playing the long game. In a fast plane like P51/47 you can use the same technique when there's a couple of fighters on you - a few will definitely break off if you give them a long enough chase while extending the gap between you and them. I hope this helps you out. Basically just remember, that he loses more energy than you at high speeds and that you should not burn that energy in tight turns against him.
@@verq2909 I like the tips, but my thing is that they will commit to the climb even at the loss of speed, which is good for me in theory, but the issue is that they are now at the same alt as me, slower-sure, but I ultimately have to force super dangerous headons and unlike the P-47 whose wings support itself at high altitude, the P-51 doesn't, so trying to roll back makes me bleed speed like crazy and I end up having trouble gaining it back.
I dont know why I called the spitfire unrecognizable. dyslexia ig. I had most recognizable in the script
In an American prop, the j2m2 out climbs you, out turns you . The only think you can do is run away and force head ons.
The spitfire vc/trop is one the best that if people engage with you
Nice video, i haven't glown the Spitfire mk 9 yet but i am nearly there for getting the Mk 5b/Trop, any advice for that Spitfire?
It just isn’t that good. You’re gonna rely on firepower
