Hey, Night Shift....I know you are not totally in love with the tank, but I honestly think that this might just be one of your best dioramas so far. The whole piece is very pleasing to the eye, well balanced and well executed.
Dear Uncle Night Shift, I fell off a ladder last month and broke both of my heels. I had just gotten an Eduard photoetched detail set for my Wespe. Alas, my poor Wespe and all of my other projects languish on my desk while I bang and scratch my walls up in my wheelchair. I appreciate your videos so I can do my projects vicariously through you, especially since I know you are going through a similar ordeal. Cheers!
The S.35 is one of my favorite tanks ever. You did it justice with this diorama. And with your injury, this is quite an achievement. Well done! I hope you'll get well soon.
Love that you used a French tank. They are rarely used. Excellent work! I was building tank dioramas back in the early ‘80s. Your work is truly impressive.
This is such a joy to watch, I love it. As for the tank; personally I love the quirkier tanks and it's a nice break from the standard Shermans and Tigers. Might I even suggest you do a Italian Tankette diorama or something? Get well soon and I can't wait for the Jagdpanther!
It takes a lot of confidence and skill laying out some beautiful terrain, only to paint it all black and re-spray it all...! Great video and best modelling channel on the net.
I know you said you weren't passionate about the tank, but because it's rare to see these types of vehicles modeled, it really screams early war and serves as an eerie reminder of a very hard time. Really well done really nice job, and a great diorama. Sorry to hear about your broken leg, hope it heals great!
i liked how you handled the tank. showed it respect and dressed it up, gave it a crew and scenery to distract... i mean... for it to hide in. best wishes on them legs.
This dio is so full of life! It’s truly a bit of history come to life. And the tank rocks! I like that you tried something so different, and I think it payed off.
I freaking love this weird snail of a French tank! Nice work with this diorama, very convincing ... it really came to life :) And hey, no problems with skipping a week ... we all want you to keep existing ;)
I actually like the tank in this diorama. I like it because it is not a commonly done tank. It's different and a welcome change. Well done and keep up the great work.
That’s a fantastic result and having the tank in its environment really improves its appearance. Everything about it is quality. I still have heart palpitations when you black base the diorama ! I’ve really enjoyed your podcast contributions recently too. Take care with that leg. Don’t be tempted to do too much. It must heal correctly now or it will trouble you in the future. Please rest! Take care, Ian
Uncle Night Shift - Thanks for all you do, and most of all take some time to recover and for yourself. You do a great job on these videos, and the commentary even more so. Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best. Cheers from Arizona US
Every week I go through the same cycle of gradually getting bored of modelling, and then going into overdrive from excitement every time NightShift uploads.
Your comment at 2:08 was unexpected and gave me a nice chuckle. Up the irons! And as always, a lovely piece of work. Hope your leg is much better now. Cheers!
I still find it crazy that you create the ground work and make it look super realistic with the soil, tracks, grass, dirt, stones, etc. And then you paint it all black and paint over it. It looks so real and lifelike before you paint it. XD
Fantastic groundwork. I'm from the model train school where natural materials are used unmolested. Your techniques really breathe life into the scene and tie your models cleanly into the diorama. I'm consistently impressed with your approach and results and have begun incorporating said into my own efforts Thanks for the inspiration.
I actually enjoy your approach towards priming and painting the ground. Most of the dioramas, where effects (grass, mud, stones etc.) are not adjusted, look oversaturated, unnatural and kinda off. Your dioramas look uniform and consistent. You leave nothing uncontrolled and deafault. Now I learned you do it that way and honestly whenever you are doing any kind of scenery, adding grass, stones, mud, sand or whatever - no matter how the colour match the real thing, I try to picture it in my head like black and white texture, because I'm curious of how will you paint it at the end. Great work, great inspiration. Somehow because of your vids I'm getting into modeling. Thanks for that!
Fantastic result! Maybe one of your most radical and far reaching transformations, going from a weird looking tank after the first couple of coats into something that looks completely believable and realistic. Exceptional pre-visualisation of the scene.
Great dio, Uncle Nightshift. Nice once again to see the final result of weeks of work - with a broken leg! Hope you'll soon be able to walk around again. Take care
Each time I view a video I find myself wrapped up in your talent and completely awe struck . Keep up your amazing work "ma friend" piece be with you and get well soon. ✌🇨🇦✌
I see nine dislikes.....how can anyone not like this man??? Great modeller, great sense of humour and very honest and humble!! As always a brilliant finish. It has been great to follow ang given me plenty of idea. Very well done again
I spend $10,000 bucks on washes...pigments...etc...mine look like crap...You...$ 6 bucks glue, dirt and water and it's a freakN masterpiece ...Awesome work...yet again....
I've absolutely loved this series, especially with the unusually colorful French camo, but I got thinking, this would have to be a "what if" diorama surely, if I've understood it correctly and it is set in Belgium, as Allied forces weren't allowed in the country and had to rush in when the Germans invaded. The French, or British, had hoped to stage troops in Belgium to avoid another trench war on home soil, but the Belgians refused the notion wanting to remain neutral; a big part of the success of German blitzkrieg was the mass of Belgian refugees moving West as the Allied forces rushed East, slowing them down.
Indeed. Later on the allied forces holding the second Belgian defense line here where I am , decided after 4 days to join the Belgian refugees and move to Dunkerque, they were probably slowed down in their advance to the sea.
I look forward every Friday to hearing, "My friends..." A great diorama with a tank I really dislike, which shows how much I really like the final result. Best wishes for a continued successful recovery!
Just because I might not enjoy the subject matter of the diorama it doesn’t take away from the execution, and that in turn lets me appreciate the subject in a way I wouldn’t have if it was a stand alone subject. Bravo your dioramas and figures are getting better every time, thank you for sharing your process and all this with a broken leg. Hope you are feeling better, loved all your podcast interviews and next time maybe try something blindfolded and we’ll see another masterpiece.
Thanks, Oncle Night Shift, for all the thought and work you put into your projects - and for sharing them with us. I'm a "Hobblit" myself, for now, and I hope that it's not that way too much longer.
Always look forward to Fridays & another Uncle Night Shift video. 😎 The diorama turned out fabulous. Those paper plants at the end look so good...especially the ivy. As someone who spent 8 months in a full length leg cast...I feel you. Continued success with your healing process.
You seem to have a really unique approach to your dioramas. I don't think I've ever seen anyone prime and paint the whole thing. I model trains, but I get a lot of great ideas from your videos. You do fantastic work.
This is one of the best, most 'uncommon' diorama I ever saw. Not overdone, well detailed and executed with nice contrasts. Verry interesting! And as a Belgian, I can tell the vegetation and earth colours are verry accurate! Even the road sign. Well done 'ma frind' 👍🏻
for a duck, its a pretty solid outcome. gotta say though, that whole english lawn thing you mentioned might be cool, maybe something on parade or on display at bovington, or maybe if you fancy some thing a bit more claustrophobic maybe in a factory in primer or with its turret pulled in a camp being maintenanced. Can't wait for whatevers next regardless.
Awesome diorama. Please be careful with your leg and I wish that your leg heals well in the end and also strong again. Looking forward to your next project.
It's a very colorful and great looking diorama. I love Your work! I wish You would make a heavily used/weathered aircraft diorama... That would be something different too. Blending aircraft and tank modeling together :)
The end result is stunning! really enjoying the builds and how they all come together with the diorama . Wishing you a continued, swift and full recovery.
Well, I'm trying to really keep the show weekly if I call it a "weekly show" :) But there's been a lot of stuff lately and the next project is going to be HUGE, so it takes more time to get it ready :)
I think this my favourite Dio that you've done so far. The addition of the paper plants really added that extra touch. Great work. Hope your recovery goes well. The hills will still be there when your ready. 🤟
I really enjoyed the entire series, I hope your back walking again soon!
Hey I follow your channel too Nigel! How crazy is that?
@@gymnosophist7471 Cool!
Nigel Saunders, The Bonsai Zone yeah I’m only a bonsai novice but you have been an inspiration and a great help!
Hey, Night Shift....I know you are not totally in love with the tank, but I honestly think that this might just be one of your best dioramas so far. The whole piece is very pleasing to the eye, well balanced and well executed.
I am gonna have to watch the tank-building vid now as I think the tank is very cool and something a little different !! Great build and vid - thanks
My man this is what I needed after a long day of school
Dear Uncle Night Shift,
I fell off a ladder last month and broke both of my heels.
Cheers!
Damn, I'm so sorry to hear that! Stay strong and positive and those weeks will fly by much quicker!
The S.35 is one of my favorite tanks ever. You did it justice with this diorama. And with your injury, this is quite an achievement. Well done! I hope you'll get well soon.
It was my favourite to play in an old game called world war 2 online.
I thought the tank was cool personally. It's nice to see a subject that's not been done to death. The diorama ended up looking fantastic!
There is nothing better than watching Uncle Nighshift build a diorama, while building a diorama.
Get well soon Uncle Night Shift!!!
Beautiful atmospheric diorama. Makes you wonder what they are looking at. Can't be easy when constantly uncomfortable.
Nice one friend, a night shift video every week sure does cheer me up from nearly every situation!
I found that using peat moss in addition to the ground medium adds a fabulous texture that really picks up with dry brushing.
Waking up on a Saturday a few hours before work and watching these are the best thing to wake up to
I liked the entire project. Glad you're healing.
Thank you for showcasing the Somua S35, not a lot of people would work with old french tanks. Bravo
Idk why people didnt like the tank, its so interesting and it looks very distinct. Incredible result as always uncle nightshift😁
After watching many of your videos I'm now convinced of painting static grass. I also love the progress you make with painting figures!
Im blown away by the whole diorama, but personally the milestone marker looks crazy good!!!
That grass shaker thing is fascinating. Very clever
Glad to hear that you're coming along.
Absolutely stunning. Priming the whole base blew my mind. It's art.
This diorama actual makes the tank look great. You did a great job on it. Do what ever you need to do to heal up and get better.
Glad you're starting to feel better. Take your time. Looking forward to your next project.
The diorama brought all the elements together so well! Love all the attention to detail, especially the little ivy on the wall!
Your modeling skills are amazing and your humor is not that far behind.
The Mile Marker's a Work Of Art By ITSELF !!!
I actually like the tank in this diorama. I like it because it is not a commonly done tank. It's different and a welcome change. Well done and keep up the great work.
what is there not to love about the tank? i love the pre war tanks, and this French one is perfect. truly amazing
I love the feature of painting larger stones in different colours individually. This looks great!
Hey Night Shift, these videos on building scale model dioramas are absolutely accurate and inspiring for me so that I could build dioramas of my own.
Cheers from Arizona US
Like the grass before and after painting it.
Every week I go through the same cycle of gradually getting bored of modelling, and then going into overdrive from excitement every time NightShift uploads.
It's so pleasant when you get home tired and you hear the:"My Friends" :)
XD
I live for this channel...both times

I really enjoyed the tank, especially the camo, figures were great too, and the final result is fantastic.
I love those French Tanks! And you've marvelous job! Get well soon, you naughty boy!!!
The tank is fine ,nice to see something not so common.
Keep up the good work
The diorama looks scrumptious
Not sure why but this is definitely one of my favourite Dioramas from night shift
Fantastic diorama. Its rare you see a duck in its natural environment like this.
I personally really like the oddball armor - especially that paint scheme! Great job, especially under your current physical limitations 👍
Take care
Nah man that tank is amazing, well done! And of course the diorama is amazing too. Hopefully you are well soon.
Each time I view a video I find myself wrapped up in your talent and completely awe struck . Keep up your amazing work "ma friend" piece be with you and get well soon. ✌🇨🇦✌
I love this tank its so refreshing with this colorful paint sceme
I see nine dislikes.....how can anyone not like this man??? Great modeller, great sense of humour and very honest and humble!! As always a brilliant finish. It has been great to follow ang given me plenty of idea. Very well done again
Is it just me or was this the funniest Night Shift yet? That Iron Maiden fan line killed me
I spend $10,000 bucks on washes...pigments...etc...mine look like crap...You...$ 6 bucks glue, dirt and water and it's a freakN masterpiece ...Awesome work...yet again....
I learn so much from watching these videos - on top of that they are fun to watch!
A simple but beautiful diorama. That milestone and the tree root are fantastic.
Get well soon and make more such beautiful dioramas.
I'd never know you weren't inspired for this build, Martin! Hope you recover quickly!
I've absolutely loved this series, especially with the unusually colorful French camo, but I got thinking, this would have to be a "what if" diorama surely, if I've understood it correctly and it is set in Belgium, as Allied forces weren't allowed in the country and had to rush in when the Germans invaded. Yes that is what I was wondering. Maybe Mr. Shift could add a 1 to the front of the kms on the mile marker then it would be all good.
Indeed.
Later on the allied forces holding the second Belgian defense line here where I am , decided after 4 days to join the Belgian refugees and move to Dunkerque, they were probably slowed down in their advance to the sea.
That mile marker was badass keep up the good work on your way to master modeling
Always great when Friday rolls around. This turned out great!
I look forward every Friday to hearing, "My friends..." A great diorama with a tank I really dislike, which shows how much I really like the final result. Best wishes for a continued successful recovery!
Another AWESOME diorama...broken leg or not, you are a very talented modeler sir!!! Get well soon!!!
I LOVED IT, AND LOVED IT, AND LOVED IT, AND LOVED IT. GUESS WHAT I LOVED IT.
Last few days I been catching up with you content. I enjoyed this series, you gave me the motivation to complete what I started.
Fantastic diorama, I love the Fench tank and crew! Hope you getter better soon. Cheers… from France 😉🇫🇷
the tank is cool is great, that you search for different themes not just the joy of the Gestalt. now I do the same with the static grass. GReat job!!!
Hello from a polish guy in belgium
Just because I might not enjoy the subject matter of the diorama it doesn’t take away from the execution, and that in turn lets me appreciate the subject in a way I wouldn’t have if it was a stand alone subject. Bravo your dioramas and figures are getting better every time, thank you for sharing your process and all this with a broken leg. Hope you are feeling better, loved all your podcast interviews and next time maybe try something blindfolded and we’ll see another masterpiece.
Thank you for doing this tank! I absolutely adore French ww2 tanks and it was really enjoyable watching you work on it!
Mr Nightshift. Great to see you back to the old days of adding abit of comedy to your videos, iron maiden fan😂😂. Amazing diorama yet again.
another kick-ass build! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Great work. I love your method of extracting the scene coloring from the black primer - fantastic idea. This is your best diorama so far.

You seem to have a really unique approach to your dioramas. I don't think I've ever seen anyone prime and paint the whole thing. I model trains, but I get a lot of great ideas from your videos. You do fantastic work.
Wow. Another incredible result. I have to admit, I didn't like the tank at first. But the final diorama has won me over.
To be fair I wasn't extremely stoked about the tank either, but the vision of this diorama kept pushing me forward :)
@@NightShiftScaleModels that's why I keep watching. You have an amazing artistic vision. Thanks and hope you heal up soon.
Fantastic diorama. I enjoyed watching the process. Get well soon, hopefully everything is healing properly.

I am probably in the minority here, but I realy like that tank. Wonderfull work on everything, so inspiring.
Nightshift inventing sanding-less sanding by not actually sanding by...using a sanding motion for... Yes!
Awesome diorama. Please be careful with your leg and I wish that your leg heals well in the end and also strong again. Looking forward to your next project.
I know you said that you weren't super passionate about the tank in this one, but I think it turned out really excellent.
Dear Martin, Outstanding. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Best Wishes Johnny
Awesome job, as always, Martin! You're raising the bar for all of us! I hope your recovery continues smoothly!
Rad as always. You took one a Ugly Tank and made an amazing diorama. Feel like your there. Thanks for sharing
Awesome job as always. You rose above the pain and interest level to produce a killer series and diorama. Lots of great tips here.
Saying "Missing a week" makes it sound like a really bad thing dude. You're taking a break. Important and totally valid whatever the reasons for it.
Well, I'm trying to really keep the show weekly if I call it a "weekly show" :) But there's been a lot of stuff lately and the next project is going to be HUGE, so it takes more time to get it ready :)
