    Martin, when you were painting the doors and windows, I had an idea. If you were to pint a base coat, (the original paint when the barn was new), you could then use your "Chipping Technique" to have a newer paint on top, but the old paint showing through in places, especially where hands interact with the doors in the usual places, like around the locks and where the farmer pushes the doors closed. In this way, it would be just like painting a tank where the paint was scuffed by walking on it, etc.

  • @darkwood777
    @darkwood777 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You did a wonderful job. Just amazing. I have two small suggestions. First one is that I would darken the areas that are going to be touched a great deal by the farmers. This darkening comes from years of dirty wet hands touching the wood. So darken around the door latches and along the door frames of the entrance side of the doors at the height of hands. If the latches are the type that hang down when unlatched, there should be a semicircular wear mark to show this. The second suggestion is that there should be dirt splatter around the perimeter coming from the ground due to rain. The contrast of the splatter band would be darker after a rain, and lighter after time drying in the sun, but there should be something here around the base of the building to show the accumulation of dirt over the years. Maybe more so on the side with the roof eave where rain runs off.

      @@lordzombey1337 I see, finding a good foam can be tricky. It has to be the densest foam you can find. For example, I bought a large slab of Styrodur 2800C the other day and while it looked okay at a first glance, it's too coarse, but it could work with some extra effort. The higher the number, the denser the foam is gonna be.
