David, I began watching your videos a month or so ago because of your 1/72nd scale armor pieces like this diorama, but I have stayed and am slowly making my way through all your videos because your skills, attention to detail and running narratives remind me so much of my father, a master modeler who passed away two years ago. When I became old enough to start building my own models he taught me how to use an airbrush and how to make modifications to the--mostly Revell--aircraft models I began building. I never attained his degree of mastery--as a adult he focused on HO/00 1/87th scale trains--but we shared many hours together enjoying our hobby. I feel a certain sadness watching your videos because I cannot share your work with him, but I also happy knowing that he would appreciate your work and would have enjoyed watching the videos. What a cracking little diorama this is ! Especially considering it is in 1/72nd scale - there is just so much detail in it, and the idea of showing the enemy underneath in the tunnels is a total brainwave, just brilliant mate. I think the painting is also worthy of mentioning, to put so much detail on to so small a figure is wonderfully skilled. Anyway, great video, great diorama, well done.
Dude, you even nailed the music. 👍👍 FYI: they used sharpened bamboo, not metal stakes. They used to wipe the stakes with human fesses to make the victim sick if the trap didn’t outright kill them. Another great build.
Awesome Vietnam Diorama !!!!!!!! My Father was in the Vietnam War an he told me a lot about the jungle an the vegetation their. He told me a lot about the Black Palm bush , were if you didn't have your gloves on it would cut right through your hand like a knife.

I love this video and the work that you have done with the environment on your diorama and the figures are very amazing and the vehicle and what you have done with something that is in such a small scale I must say that you have done a great job and a work of art 🎨 and keep up the good work
Had an idea for what might be a cool yet tricky detail: cast tiny, clear resin “light bulbs” with one end of fiber optic embedded in them. Paint the exposed fiber black/brown to look like electric cords. Then string them in the underground bunker and bundle and connect the free ends to an led source. VC tunnels had lots of “rooms,” with at least one that had a generator to power lights and other equipment.
ALL that in such a small space - great work! Attention to detail is excellent, love the idea of the VC tunnels. Also, landscaping is very convincing. Well done 👍
Hey, a follower from France here. I really love your work, especially your minature's style (as I mostly paint figures myself). I was wondering, are you planning on doing a more "in depth" video about painting figures ? I think a lot of people would learn painting tricks, as it appears you are able to paint them very fast yet make them outstanding too. Great work !
Awesome work as usual! Love all the little details, including the enemy fox holes and after some simple modifications the paper leaves look great. As an observation; if you want to add fallen logs and sticks in future dioramas, you might have an easier time gluing them down first before adding your static grass. This is what I do when detailing the bases and making terrain for my miniatures/tabletop wargames; they're easier to glue down early on, and you can easily control the amount of glue and static grass around it.
In Vietnam, coconut trees always grow along rivers. VietCong soldier never built a tunnel near the rivers. My grandfather was a Viet Cong soldier, he taught me a lot of things about how to dig a tunnel.
You're work is absolute genius(great artist). Would you consider getting stronger lenses so your work could be appreciated by even more. Been a hobby for 60yrs.
As a Vietnamese I am quite impressed with the details of your diorama! One thing turns me down a bit is your tree models. Sorry but I must say that in Vietnam we don't have any trees with leaves like that in your model. My suggestions: if you wanna make your model more "Vietnam" then plant some banana trees or cooconut trees (tall straight trunks unlike your twigs). Once again, congrats on your new masterpiece! Hope you can create more for us to watch! 👍👍👍
I used to own those same model kits when I was a teenager and I hope that I can still be able to get them at a hobby store because trying to get them on the internet can be very hard and expensive and I do love to find a hobby store in my area that has those model kits available
I like the C-wire on the front. We actually did that with C-wire tied to the hood of our humvees. Easy to role out, doesn't get snagged all over your gear.
One more detail.. using either air dry clay or milliput, it would be nice to see one of those snakes we see in all jungle war scenes. Great work as usual.
Vietnam is nice because we have almost every kind of terrain in our country, except for desert. We have colder highlands as well as dense tropic jungle, so you have plenty of freedom and choice when making a diorama about Vietnam.
If you enjoyed that, you should attempt a "hillbilly" gun truck. lots of opportunity to get creative and use stuff from your bits box and maybe even some scratch building?
PLASMO, I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement regarding lack of imagination! For such a tiny scene you packed in a wealth of detail. I thought the crossview of the tunnel was amazing as well. Keep up the fantastic work.

I just realized that watching David build one of these dioramas is a lot like watching Bob Ross paint a picture. If you don't know who Bob Ross was, look up the Wiki on him and then search for him on YT and watch one of his videos.
Hey you could pait the balsa wood frame with white or light gray paint. It would give some contrast to the bunker and booby trap and make it easier to see them.
Super cool diorama :) The only thing I would personaly change is the black color of the wood plates. In my opinion it would look nicer if you give them an earth texture or paint in the soil layers

You8 did a GREAT job on this entire diorama. M113, figures and ground cover are all EXCELLENT especially given the small scale you chose to use.

@@sarulaplays6861 I was told to lightly airbrush the grass in spots with a light shade to give it the yellowish look on the tips.

Looks great, but one thing you need to add is the tall grass getting pushed down by the front of the 113, and pushed down grass behind it.
