Just an explanation from the moment you killed Alva: Tyr was dragging that elfe so the four of them could walk in the light bridge. At some point it was said that the light bridges work with a crystal that all the elves carry. So the moment the elfe woke up again it cut its own hand and fell and the bridge that it was being created as they were walking dissapeared and Kratos and Atreus fell in the lake of souls

I also feel they pushed side missions more in Ragnarök than 2018. Not that that's a bad thing, don't get that wrong. Side mission lore and interactions are so damn good I loved every piece of dialog and the new interactions with different characters. Love this game Great reaction too.

Don't be so hard on yourself. During the week you are playing multiple different games, sometimes on multiple different gaming systems. GOW doesn't help with constant introduction on new special moves, some that require precise timing to be effective. Who thought you would be traveling through a desert on a sled pulled be cat-like creatures.
You picked the most difficult shield variation for this part of the game. The shield slam is slow, which is why you're missing a lot of the double blue rings
