I kinda get why Rob started to distance himself. And I respect that. It's none of our business why.
I don't understand why some people consider it disrespectful that not much is said about Rob. The way it was handled, it was respectful enough to just briefly state the fact and say 1-2 sentences about it.
I think the only thing that bothers some critics is the fact that their curiosity is not sufficiently satisfied. It's not enough for you to be told that Rob has simply distanced himself from the band over the years and no longer wants to. NO!!! A scandal, an argument would be much more entertaining. You could work through it much better.
To such sensationalist people.... Some things are simply none of our business, not even as fans. Some things are private. And sometimes there is simply nothing more than what is said.

Thank god. Someone mentioned it for what it is. I’m an old school LP fan as well. And I already know deep that that Rob feels LP died with Chester. And he’s one of the original 3 founding members. He absolutely knows what he’s doing. And he probably doesn’t approve this move by the band. And as much as I love Mike, the way he brushed off Rob’s departure by saying “He distanced himself from the band” is a clear sign that it wasn’t on the best of terms..If it was my band mate of 20 years for arguably one of the biggest names in music, I would give him more respect than that.

I'm really gonna miss him. He was my favorite. Not just as a musician, he had such a cool, chill vibe about him. I hope he gets to surf everyday and I wish him all the good things in life.
Chester is gone, Rob is gone, Brad isn't touring, so we've got Shinoda and Hahn, it's similar to how I feel about the Pantera reunion, call it something else, because it's not LP without Chester, let alone half of the rest of the band being gone.

I struggle with accepting new members to bands I've followed for years. I end up only listening to their old material and never transition to their new stuff. Happy for them to be back doing their things nonetheless.
I mean no disrespect but I dont wanna hear ANYONE sing Chesters songs but CHESTER. Now the Drummer Rob gone err..... I'll cop the new album but hold my LP back catalogue dear to my heart.
i feel its the same as with John Deacon of queen when freddie mercury died. he felt queen was done and dusted and no point to continue as freddie was the voice and soul of that band so he distanced himself. i could be wrong but i feel Rob probably feels the band died with chester and while its nice to try come back, lets be real. it doesnt feel the same anymore without chester. If they are going to come back they should work on new music and let it go because i also feel many of chesters songs she struggled with and tried way too hard to hit those notes and you could tell it doesnt fit her.
To be fair they've only released one song with her so far so that livestream would be kind of point less if it was just one song. So I cut her some slack for singing those other songs but once they start releasing more material with her then it's fair to judge her singing Chester's songs because she would have her own unique songs with the band later on. That's just my opinion though.
I didn't feel anything like that about her. I'll even go on with: her singing was better than late Chester's.
I noticed she struggled with some of the songs to, but thats understandable. Those songs weren't made with her range in mind. With time, she can give her own spin to them. I'm convinced she's the right pick for LP in this new era, the new song proves that.

Until Rob makes his own statement even the band themselves shouldn't talk about why he left or tried to distance himself from them. Mike said he just distanced himself. Rob could day otherwise.
If Mike didn't say what he said, a bunch of people would be speculating that it was a messy break up and that they hate each other. Fans would be mad at one of them or both of them for them if nothing was said.

We can take things at face value at this moment in time, and still like and respect everyone involved. If things change later, then you cross that bridge when you get there.

When Zack left RATM, Tom, Brad and Tim formed Audioslave with Chris. I think they know RATM will never work without Zack. And Audioslave became a great band. Linkin Park is Chester. Whether you agree or not. I think the best move was to create something new rather than staying behind Chester' shadow.

Chester was a real one. He held LP together with #2 Shinoda. Everyone knew their place, and they all shined. I don't mind a woman replacing Chester for a second go. She's got good pipes, but is she a real one? Not lookin like with the controversy stuff happening. It's the small quiet things like respect that made people love LP, not the flashy laser shows. If #2 understood that LP could have gone a lot further.
Everyone who says Rob left because of her need to do some research he left ages ago and told them he wanted distant himself from the band, and started showing up less and and keeping contact Mike even mentions and respected him for it.
Mike Shinoda wants the money. Imagine Paul McCartney saying "John is gone, but The Beatles must continue. Oh, yeah, Ringo did not want to return, but my friend will take his place." FU, Shinoda.
Rob is a great drummer
Changing drummer's isn't as noticeable as a new singer. Singer changes will always divide fans. None of LP wanted this situation. They're just adapting to stay together . . .
I hope Rob comes back someday to Linkin Park but he has his reasons for not rejoining the guys people change and maybe he's still grieving over Chester's death but I hope he is happy with whatever he decides to do now

Honestly, they might as well call themselves something else, it's no longer Linkin Park. I know LP started without Chester, but nobody knew them without him. If you can pull off something like acdc and they sound the same, it can work. But once you change the sound mainly lead vocals, it's no longer the same band. I wish them the best of luck, but this isn't my LP.

this "new linkin park" is XERO. the actual original band before linkin park(founded by MS, JH and BD). rob bourdon was linkin park's DRUMMER. the same with chester bennington, he was LINKIN PARK's vocalist.
you can consider this new female vocalist is a XERO vocalist. this new "installment" should come out with the name of XERO so it would make whole lot of sense.

I'm glad people get to hear a new take on Linkin Park but it's just not for me Chester is too hard too replace and they flopped big time her voice didn't sound good at all from what I've heard so far its butchering at its finest. Hard pass!
