There's still a difference in storytelling between 'so you say this happened' and 'he said this happened' or just immediately translating what the other person is saying.
To be clear, I'm critiquing what Pikachu is saying in regards to the translation of Murkrow, not the fact he's translating

Am I the only one who thought Pikachu would be revealed to be the kid’s father? I’m going by this video, haven’t played the game myself, but at one point I thought ‘They better not...’
Same, would explain why that same Pikachu is unable to use pokémon moves. Something similar happened in PMD2, where your starter pokémon was previously a human but retained the ability to use dimensional scream, although they were capable of using moves.
It's more or so of the dead father being in charge pikachu's body.
My guess pikachu wanted to save him and it's the best they got in doing so. Could also explain why he doesn't use any moves since it's his dad the whole time.
That or pikachu has to have a clean slate with only memories of the case since it is linked to the promise he made to mewtwo.

Later on in the ship case, you'd see that one of the items was going to be a violin. Also, he felt like he was going to be fired anyway, so he was going to cause mayhem to escape later on. Just want to point that out.

They gave us many hints at what MIGHT had happened and what Deal the REAL Pikachu could had made with Mewtwo which somehow caused it to become Detective Pikachu... Maybe the Answer is in the game and we are supposed to put the pieces together?

I love how the weirdest video game became the greatest video game movie.
Im 100% shure that his dad is the pikachu he is with. The crash made him switch bodies. That's my hypothesis from what was showed in the game.

Mewtwo played a Part in this. The REAL Pikachu made a Deal with Mewtwo to save Harry in exchange for his Cells which caused the Pikachu to change and be more like Henry (drinking coffee, eating sweets, ... flirting with Ladies.. wait.. this means that Tims Dads cheated on his wife or liked to flirt with other women even though he was in a relationship? Or is it just something that Pikachu does as a negative side effect?).
But I just don't know what his last lines with Mewtwo could mean...

Concept: make an interesting game about investigating child-friendly cases with a pikachu and a teenager as the only person to understand him as the main roles and be basically "kiddy-Phoenix Wright" with a playboy as head investigator.
Execution storywise: A fair attempt, but about as interesting and polished as a cheap 3D-animated Tv show. All i needed would have been pikachu drinking some gin-tonic after a successfully made case. he probably did it offscreen tho.
The worst part is, I'll never stop thinking about Brawl Taunts with that FUCKING OUT OF PLACE PIKACHU VOICE!

@Connor Dean because it's the first spinoff Pokemon movie besides the Ranger one. Also, this could mean that a movie based on the old Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games are possible. Hell, Red/Blue Rescue Team even has the full script written already.

Weirdly would not be the first time I’ve seen the dad being the partner the whole time, with some convoluted reason why he is not in his normal body. Kinda a boring anime i saw this in in hindsight, and that a weird twist.

I have a theory (albiet one with no real evidence) that the Last Story of Shadow the Hedgehog was a last minute addition to the game. I feel like the team made the multiple ending thing to allow people to do whatever they wanted with Shadow and they assumed there was no plans to ever use him again in the main series. However late in development they found out Shadow would be in '06 and that they needed to make a canonical ending, so they rushed the last story together. It would explain why all the marketing focused on the player choosing Shadow's alligence, several of Devil Doom's animations are recycled from Metal Overlord, and why Shadow's super form looks so ugly. The lack of time to program and beta test is likely the reason it takes so long for Eggman to chime in

Max stole Carina's violin so that he could *possibly* sell it at the black market on the ship to pay his debts should he lose his job due to low popularity.
If you talk to one of the anonymous women, she said she was looking forward to getting her hands on "The Famous Carina's Violin."
There was suppose to be a bidding for Carina's violin and since she is famous, that adds more value to her violin. Since the stolen items are at least over billions of dollars, Max would have more than plenty of money to pay his debts and plenty of time to find a new job.
That wasn't the case because he wasn't going to be let go. This only puts his reputation at risk should anyone found out he stole Carina's violin. He had no reason to steal it, but he thought he did because he thought he was gonna lose his job and not be able to pay his debts.
But who am I to justify his actions? A sin is a sin. I know.
And he wasn't the one who planned the accident to smash the fake, that was Keith's doing and he did it with the intent of killing Tim and Pikachu.

He thought that he would be let go and left in debt, so he stole the expensive violin to sell on the black market which is referenced later in the game. The real sin is, "Say his plan plan had worked, how would he be able to prove that the violin is genuine? It can't be the message because even he didn't know about it when he stole it."

That's like saying Mufasa's death in Lion King is too much for the viewers to handle even though it's a family-friendly film. In fact, Poke'mon Sun and Moon had an NPC who was grieving over her husband's loss due to an 'accident'. Poke'mon has been dark like this plenty of times, even the anime (which I hate with all my guts).
